We love House of Hounds and so does our pup! It’s a great place to take him when my fiancé and I both have long work days. He goes there for the day and he’s tired for the next two days. They do overnight boarding too, which we have not taken advantage of yet, but we plan to during our honeymoon after our wedding!

My dog is a drama queen and doesn’t like many places. She loved going to house of hounds to get groomed. But every time I make an appt which I wait months in advance for they cancel. They’re also a little bit more pricey than other groomers.Will not be returning.

We went out of town for an early birthday celebration and left our Beyla behind at HOH. This girl had us so worried when we got the call that she was being rushed to the Emergency Vet because they thought she had bloat. They took all the proper precautions when feeding her, but sometimes this can still happen. We suspect it was the anxiety from being away from home and her excitement from being in a place that she loves that caused it. We can't thank House of Hounds enough for keeping an eye on our girl and catching it so quickly. If this would have went unseen we would have lost our girl because it can be fatal in a short amount of time... Timing is everything with bloat. Thankfully knowledge and a watchful eye coupled with an amazing reaction time from the House of Hounds staff save Beyla's life. Doctors told us we were so lucky she was in excellent care from them because this would have been devastating. This is a big shout out to House of Hounds in Nitro and the South Charleston Emergency Vet for saving our girl's life!We cannot thank them enough for saving our girl's life!

I have been a loyal customer for about 6 or 7 years now. I take my 10lb shih tzu every 2 months. For the last 6 years or so it has always been about $50 to get him groomed. That was a bit on the high end, but they were always so good with my dog that I felt like the services were worth the money. The last 3 or 4 times they have increased rhe price every time. First it was $60. Then it was 70$. Then today I took him to be groomed and asked how much it would be and was told they had another price increase and it would be $85! When I asked why the price has been increased I was told it was because of the price of the shampoo. Exactly how much shampoo are you using for a 10lb dog?!?! I find this price increase outrageous. In the last 4 to 6 months your price had increased $35! The time before last, they sliced my babies paw open. The owner came out and talked to me and was very apologetic about the situation and said he'd call and check on my dog the next day, but he never called. Despite this situation I continued to take my dog there. Stuff happens I understand, but a 70% increase in price over the last 6 months is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sorry to say they have lost a loyal customer today.

Our dog has been going to House of Hounds since June and we’ve loved it. They were able to quickly get him in for his first day and all subsequent appointments have gone great. At other doggy daycares, he would get scared in the parking lot and try his hardest to not enter the building. When we pull up to House of Hounds, he gets excited and runs to the door. The house environment is so unique and valuable. The 24/7 supervision is incredibly valuable. Especially if your dog has separation anxiety, this is the place to be. I only wish they’d have the same level of service (overnight, weekends) in Charleston.

I recently took my 4 and a half month old puppy here for an evaluation so I could have a trusted place to take him while I was occasionally away for the day. My puppy is deaf and vision impaired, but the sweetest dog. He has never shown aggression towards other dogs and is always excited to be around anyone he meets. Everything was fine up until the visit and I was told to bring him in and they would conduct their “evaluation” of him. Once I returned, I was told my dog was not welcome back as they were worried for his safety because they have so many other dogs around. I was told another dog tried to “nip at his face” and he didn’t understand the social cues of that. I was also told his behavior was perfectly fine and he was very sweet and loving. So if my dog was not the problem I can’t understand why he isn’t welcome at this facility and why the aggressive dog is. He is a puppy and will learn to understand how to respond to other dogs around him.I took this entire encounter as a sign that the workers were not willing to work with my dog because he has special needs. It seemed that they didn’t care to have the time for him. He simply needs to be shown the area and touched for attention and they weren’t willing to give him the time of day. If pet care is your job, I don’t understand why it is difficult to show a little more attention to certain dogs that may need it. Instead, this place seemed to be more of a free-for-all because of the sheer amount of them and those dogs could not possibly be adequately supervised. I’ll gladly take my dog somewhere else for daycare so I know someone will take time to care for him and not treat him as a burden.If your dog has any type of special need, don’t even consider them.

I can't sing the praises of this place, and particularly the owner, enough! I boarded my cat Mango here for a week and a half. Mango tends to get very afraid around people and situations he doesn't know, as was the case here. A couple of days in and he wasn't eating or drinking. The owner went above and beyond, trying several different types of food to try to get him to eat and was preparing to take him to the vet or even his own home to help him calm down if necessary. It was so nice to be states away and to know that someone was doing their absolute best to make sure that my cat was ok. After trying some shredded chicken, Mango thankfully came around and all of the workers continued to help make him as comfortable as they could by sitting with him for hours over the course of that week and a half. They really and truly care about your pets here and will do just about anything they can to make them safe and comfortable.

I have 2 beagles and a husky which have been to groomers in California, Arizona and now West Virginia. This groomer is hands down my favorite based on how well they treat the animals. Would recommend them to anyone in search of a groomer or doggy day care.

Ever since we discovered this business we've been loyal fans. Their employees treat our dogs as though they were long lost family members. Our dogs are extremely attached to us, but when we taken them here, they get lead away to "doggy day camp"...and never look back. It's bitter sweet, they can't stand to be w/o us. But at HOH, they can't wait to go in. When driving there, our latest dog starts whining blocks away from their shop.As to the operation, I can't imagine them being more accommodating. Each location has a grooming section; we get our dog's nails trimmed while at day camp, perfectly convenient.Prices, and payment options, are more than reasonable and they make it easy with the hourly packages and other amenities. If you like to spoil your dog, at non-spoiling prices, HOH is the place.Since the pandemic they've started safety protocols that just make sense. Same great service, with a touch of social distancing. Nowadays, I can clearly tell if you're smiling behind a mask and this is one of the places that taught it to me.House Of Hounds, don't ever stop whatever training you're doing in the background to provide such great service. We will be long-time customers and with a little help from our other pet loving friends we'll keep you all in business for even longer.

I took our golden lab/retriever for grooming and they did a great job. He is clean and cut and a very happy pup!The facility is very clean and spacious, and I was very pleased with the staff. They were very conscientious of his anxiety around other dogs and very accommodating.For everything they did: shave, bath, clean ears, cut toenails, brushed teeth the pricing is very reasonable as well. We are very happy with House of Hounds!

Staff is always friendly. Can tell they really care for your fur-children. As there is no other Doggy Daycare around, there is nothing comparable to this. When boarding, your animal gets to be where it wants to be and you know that it will be well taken care of. The prices are reasonable. Your animal can be groomed as well. Our dog Sandy loves coming here. She gets so excited when the door opens, and she is such a social dog that she is in heaven when we drop her off. Come back a few hours later and she is tuckered out for the rest of the day and into the next. Don't know what we would do without this place. She was also a shelter rescue who showed signs of being abused, but this place has really, really, REALLY helped her get to be the pupper she wants to be. The picture I have posted is our girl usually an hour after we get home.

My dog is an active big puppy who is spoiled and happy, and I like it that way. When I take her for a play day at the House of Hounds, she comes home exhausted. She plays hard all day. She is anxious to get inside the house when we go there. That makes me very comfortable leaving her there for a day or a week. Her sleeping accommodations are like home, and she has the run of the house, play area and company of other dogs. She loves it and so do I. I am grateful that a facility like this exists.I find the staff to be very professional, attentive and caring. They are great substitute moms while I'm away. I appreciate all of them!

My dogs absolutely love spending time here in daycare and always come home tired. We have used them for boarding in the past as well with great results. There are few places that i would trust with my animals but this is definitely one of them.

Beyla had another amazing stay with HOH for a few days. These guys are awesome! Everyone is so friendly and helpful!They literally saved Beyla's life with their fast action. It was during a previous stay when she suffered from bloat late one night. If it wasn't for the knowledgeable and fast acting employees at HOH we wouldn't have her today.If you've ever had a pup that could potentially suffer from bloat, you would know that every minute counts. Noticing the subtle changes in Beyla was the only thing that saved her life.WE LOVE THESE GUYS!

Our dog attends daycare and is boarded here when we go out of town. The staff is friendly, and it's evident that they truly care about our "baby" like she's one of their own. We have full confidence in the care they provide while she's with them, and we will miss this gem when we relocate this summer. After checking out several doggy daycare options in our soon-to-be larger city, we've realized that House of Hounds is truly one of a kind.

I cannot say enough good things about House of Hounds. They take excellent care of our dog. During a visit our dog fell ill (through no fault of H of H) and they were not able to reach us. They took our dog to the vet and sat in the waiting room for hours and cared for her as if she were their own dog. It is priceless to know that your pet will be cared for by conscientious, caring people.

Great place! My mom use to take her dog there to get his nails trimmed and he hated being touched by anyone. Every time she took him he did wonderful and let them do it without any problems. Highly recommend them to everyone.

So excited that House of Hounds has opened a Charleston location! Had my 2 dogs there on Monday for grooming. Great job! Reasonable prices. Very professional. My lab mix has skin/allergy issues. They did a deshedding treatment on her...it has helped tremendously! Sooo pleased with their services! Highly recommend them!

Picked Nova up yesterday from boarding. She was happy and tired, 2 signs she's had a good time. The staff is great, we got back a day early and they were able to move her bath up a day and I picked her up. Highly recommend both boarding and daycare.

I can't even begin to put into words how great House of Hounds has been for my dog Dillinger. I take him to day care every other day and he is literally in puppy heaven. The staff is very attentive and caring and I have absolutely no worries when I drop him off. He romps and plays all day with the other dogs and is one tired puppy when I pick him up. Such a happy place and I am thankful for HoH every day!

We have tried many groomers in the area for our Yorkie Piper and were never satisfied. The last groomer gave our Yorkie a Schnauzer cut!! We used to live in Nitro and our first two Yorkies went to House of Hounds so we decided to try them again We are extremely pleased! The staff is professional and friendly. Our groomer April came out from the back to understand exactly what we wanted and boy did she deliver!! They called us 15 minutes before Piper was ready which I felt was an awesome benefit since we now live in Hurricane.We went to the location in Nitro and will continue taking Piper there 🙂Thank you again HOH!!

Our girl Sadie has been a daycare, and boarding guest, at the House of Hounds in Nitro, West Virginia, for seven years. The facility is truly dog-friendly, and the staff and management genuinely care about all of the animals.We can leave our “rescue pup,” Ms. “Sadie,” when we travel, and Rest In Peace knowing that she is with other smaller dogs that are just as friendly as she.

called 2 weeks in advance for my toy poodle to get a simple short hair cut,price was to be 48.00 ended up being 55.00. now i had informed them we had to stay and wait cause we drove a distance to get there and appointment was for 930 am and was told id be right in and out when dog was done. got there no one was there-customers- and was told its gonna be 3 hours till he can get cut then was offered an express cut for 20.00 more i agreed but am mad as a hornets nest... tookem not even 30 minutes to cut him by that time a customer came in go figure. so i will not use them again poor service and bad wrong communication.

We LOVE House of Hounds! Dudley & Nuka Bear have tried all their services - daycare, overnight & grooming. Every aspect of this place is TOP NOTCH! The staff is amazing & obviously crazy about the dogs that are left in their care. When our dogs are groomed at HOH, they look awesome every.single.time! The only issue we have is that sometimes we cannot accesss the cameras - not sure if it's the browser or what is going on. Still, we wouldn't hesitate to give House of Hounds 5 STARS!!!
