Rude staff. Non accommodating. Slow pace of play. No refunds or rain checks. Poor greens and fairways. Over priced for what you get. You could go to lake view or Mountain view for the same price and have a much better experience.

Awesome place. Very well maintained and great people. It took us 5 hrs to get there, but it was all worth it. Well mapped and easy to navigate. I got camo color gloves from their shop.... Looks incredible. Definitely recommended for enthusiasts and beginners.

I encourage everyone to come out and play this course. Lots of changes recently so if you’ve had a negative experience in the past, please give it another try. I truly believe you will notice the improvements in the course as well as staff.

We had a group of 4 decide to play the front 9 this morning. We were on time, all wearing appropriate attire. Now, three of us were very much beginners and we expected to play rather slow. The course was empty for the most part, except for about 2-3 other groups. These groups were all smaller than our own so we politely let them play through as they caught up. We kept the carts on the path, did not cause any disruptions, and were quiet throughout the game. On hole 7 a short brunette woman pulled up next to us and immediately starts berating all of us for playing too slow and “holding up the whole course”. No one was within three holes of us at the time. She even claimed “letting people play through doesn’t help, it just causes delays” which was comical considering the rules on the cart stated to let smaller groups play through. Also let me make clear, she did not nicely ask for us to speed up our pace of play, she yelled for several minutes in a rude and condescending tone and then followed us for the last holes to watch our every stroke. Absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional. I would rather take a driver to miniature golf then play another 9 here.

It's very apparent that the new Owners, Mark and Janice, have been working hard on improvements to the course. We played while visiting the area on vacation and were very glad we did! The greens run true and at a very nice speed. Fairways were in good shape and must drain well. We were surprised it was not cart path only given all the rain the three days prior. The Owners and staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful! It's wonderful to meet people that seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. We travel and play a lot of golf and have experienced many different personality types at various courses... the team at Mountaineer rocks!

Never giving money to this place again!!! If you want to be bothered by the owner and staff nitpicking everything while playing golf come here. Old man that takes your cart from you after you’re done was also rude.

I’ve been playing golf for around 10 years and have never had such a negative experience on a golf course. I was playing with three others who are all new to the game. We set a tee time and arrived on time. We replaced our divots and ball marks, were respectful of the course and let other groups play through as the rules clearly dictate. There were only two groups that caught up to us and both had two players vs our foursome. Naturally two players play faster than four even if both groups have the same skill set (we didn’t). Then on hole 7 a small brunette woman wearing a WVU hoodie and pajama pants drives up and scolds us for playing so slowly. She told us that we were holding up the entire course (again…2 groups played through and no one else was in sight) and that we needed to pick up our balls and leave. Then she backed off and said we, at least, needed to pick up the pace. She then shadowed us for the rest of the 9 holes. Were we playing slow? Absolutely. Were we holding anyone up? Absolutely not. Our only crime was offending her ego and massive inferiority complex. With the number of people playing golf diminishing, I would think the owners and management at Mountaineer Golf Course would have been thrilled to have four people spend their money there but apparently not. There are a lot of other golf courses in Morgantown. My advice: play somewhere else…anywhere else.

First time going to this course and was slightly disappointed. Course condition is fine, but no visible fairways make for an overall unenjoyable experience. Green condition however was very good. After 9 holes it started to pour rain. What was most disappointing is that they were unwilling to give any sort of rain check or refund after we were unable to play the back 9. Their course policy regarding this was disappointing to stay the least. Expensive visit to not be able to finish the course.

Golf course was great. My buddies and I had a great time. The issue is we played in a 5some about 4.5 hours best ball, let every person who came up behind us play through, only two people by the way, and this short brunette woman came out yelling at us as we pulled into the clubhouse after 18 holes. It didn’t sit well with me so I walked in to confront her about it and she just proceeded to yell some more. To boot all I said that triggered her was “ ya know, we were perfectly respectful of your golf course, let everyone play through that came up on us and were just out to have a good time”. Lol. As much as I love the course don’t think I’ll be returning. Look out for the little brunette. I think her name is Lisa 😂

Course is in the best shape it’s been in for a while. Course keeps getting progressively better. Driving range is rough but functional. My run in with the owner was good, solid guy. At the moment, I’d rather play 18 here rather than Lakeview

extremely rude staff (landscaper yelling at customers- while drinking), muddy course, rough/potholes on cart track, signs handmade out of cardboard

They are doing very well with this course under the new management. Well groomed, very well taken care of. Not too challenging with lots of straight par 4s. Very comfortable, relaxing course. As with anywhere here, the rough is real rough but at least you can find your ball. Grasses are a bit long right now, but good call as it is dead of summer. Keeps it all green and nice. No burnt greens. 4 stars only because the cart paths could really use some love. Not horrible, but pretty beat up. Keep up the great work guys. This course is coming along very well. I will be back!!

Would not recommend in the slightest. The owner has been extremely disrespectful on not only one but two occasions. Not to mention the golf course itself is not as well kept as literally any other course in Morgantown. Not worth coming here whatsoever, spend your money somewhere where the owner knows how to communicate in a respectful manner.

An honest review... This place is significantly better than it used to be 2-3 years ago. It's under new ownership and its obvious they are putting time, effort and money into making this place decent. With that being said... its still not there. The greens are a little furry but roll true and look nice, the fairways still need some work (mainly more water). Other reviews have mentioned the staff.. I agree, they do tend to have an attitude. Almost like they're doing you a favor by accepting your money to use the course. You also have a decent chance of getting stuck behind a group of "jagaloons" and having a round take 7 hours. There are no starters or rangers to speak of... its the wild wild west out there so be mentally prepared to wait 15 minutes on every tee box. Overall... I can't say I would recommend this course to any serious golfer but maybe in a year or two with continued effort it will get there.

Course was very busy, which is great to see on one of the first nice days of the year. I just hit balls on the driving range. However if the rest of the course is like the range then there's a problem. It's a compete mess. They must not know how to maintain grass. Also when I went into the clubhouse there were some drunkards talking *very loudly* to who I assume the greens keeper about how bad the greens are. Not a good sign. I heard that this year they were going to do a better job. Not a good start

I played this course today and I enjoyed playing a well maintained course. The staff is very professional and friendly. This was my first time here and I will be back. I recommend playing early in the morning. I hope to be able to participate in one of the tournaments hosted by this golf course. Keep up the good work!!!

We live on Mountainview and have memberships elsewhere, but have supported mountaineer loyally since the new ownership. They will no longer have our business after a disrespectful and insulting interaction by the owner. This is disappointing…

Driving range is a complete diaster. Nearly impossible to hit off the grass due to complete lack of maintenance and 6 out of the 7 mats that they have are torn to shreds.90% of the tee boxes are slanted and/or little to no grass.WAY too expensive on the weekends for the way the course is maintained. The front nine is fairly simple and can be fun but definitely not worth the near $40 price tag when you can go over to Cheat Lake and pay nearly $10-$15 less for a MUCH nicer/maintained course with GPS carts.Don't get me wrong, it's a fun course (minus hole 15) but they charge WAY too much.

Well it's an 18 hole course and we'll maintained. They have a nice size club house with plenty of go lucky staff that r always smiling. The greens r extremely fast but it makes for challenging puts. The prices r very competitive. The course overall is definitely a 9 out of 10 for me.

Absolute Dump. I am an average golfer and have been a member for two years. New ownership, may have best intentions, but their vision has ruined this average course. Greens are still awful, tee boxes are in mud and the fairway are not cut regularly. I've lost balls in the fairway and second cut is a hay field. It's obvious that this was purchased to build homes because no one can say this is a golf course any longer.

This course is a mess! The front nine isn't terrible, with much of it being straight away. The back nine as mentioned elsewhere in reviews is absolutely horrible! The younger staff at this course are its only redeeming quality. They are enthusiastic, helpful, and friendly. The older staff however are some of the worst people I've ever met. Not only are they unfriendly, but they are completely unhelpful when it comes to beginners picking up the game. I have been met with nothing but derision since picking up the game a few months ago. They have lost my tee time, and then said that I must have called the wrong place. Instead of an apology I was told to walk the back night, or wait half an hour. The older staff seem far more interested in drinking and not creating an enjoyable experience for their patrons. If you can afford to go to a public course in PA, or can go to Lakeview I would recommend doing so. This course and the older men who work there are in dire need of updating. Words alone cannot express how truly disappointing my experiences with this course and its proprietors have been! GO ELSEWHERE FOR GOOD GOLF AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE!!

Terrible management. Came at 6pm and asked if it was busy because I was playing solo in hopes of a few holes open. They tell me hasn't been too bad not busy.. 2nd hole already run into a slow group so i skip them, then get to the 4th hole and it's completely backed up next 3 holes.. Complete bulls**** by the manager.. i would've just hit the range if they were honest about how many groups were out there.

This is a great course for the money. Fall rates are $20 with a cart for 18. If your a big hitter you may get a little bored with the short holes. However they balance the distance out with very small greens that are all very hard to read.Overall the course is in ok shape. Biggest complaint are the tee boxes. They’re all in poor condition. Most of the fairways and greens are in average condition. For 20 bucks it’s a great value and I highly recommend the course unless your maybe a really hard core golfer used to country clubs.

I always visit Mountaineer Golf Course a ew times per month during the summer and early fall. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The course prices are some of the best in the area, so is the cost for a bucket of balls to hit at the driving range. It's a great place to grab a few friends and a few beers and have some fun.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Played in a benefit tournament. The lunch they prepared for the 18 teams was great. One negative; the tee off areas were extremely hard.

Whoever lives in that nasty clubhouse is very rude. If he’s the owner he is terrible at running a business. It’s very unkept and disgusting, way overpriced, anywhere near the ponds stink like sewer and the grass is way too tall for a golf course. All together an awful establishment.

Decent track for $. Tee boxes were rock and greens rolled true with a little hairy.
