This is really a nice place,I have stayed here many times, all the staff are very nice. Beautiful view and dog friendly. My only complaint is the hot tub. It hasn't worked the last 3 times I've stayed here. On my visits I like to relax and look forward to use it. Maintance said it needs a new pump but they don't have the money to fix it. So they shouldn't advertise that they have one if it doesn't work. Like I said this is my only complaint. But if you want a hot tub, keep on going.

The staff were wonderful and very nice at this lodge. My fiancé and I enjoyed our stay here. There is a very nice pool and hottub (the jets could be better, but hey! We still enjoyed the hot water!!) The king room was very big and had a nice sofa. We stayed in a Balcony room. The views were beautiful! On our last night, it snowed! The maintenance crew had the parking lot cleared by early morning. We are very excited to come back and hike more.Rooms: Very spacious and great views from balcony room!Nearby activities: The historic museum was awesome! Greatly enjoyed walking through the history of coal mines and the wars. There were also some very cool Indian artifacts displayed. The hiking trails are more difficult than described in the map. Even the “easy” ones have very steep drops and climbs. Hiking boots with great tread required and would also use a hiking stick to help the climb. Paths are not very well maintained as it’s all through thick wooded areas. Every trail crosses through creeks wear waterproofFood & drinks: The onsite restaurant was very good. Lodge guests receive complimentary breakfast every morning until 9:30am. No bar/alcohol available.

I have stayed at this lodge at least a dozen times since it has opened, just over weekends to have fun with family/friends in the area.. this lodge was once the nicest hotel in the southern part of the state. Now it is very run down, unfortunately. It gets worse and worse every time I return. It is in need of some major updating/cleaning. First of all, the pool/hot tub area has been very dirty the last couple times I have visited in the last 2 years. The water doesn’t even smell of chlorine and isn’t as clear as it should be. Also there were food crumbs on the floor in the area and probably in the water as well. Second, the furniture in the lobbies is very outdated, I don’t think it’s been refreshed since opening. Looks dirty, very used. The beds are very uncomfortable and hard. Nice comforters/blankets are not provided in the rooms, just sheets and a hospital-like blanket. The breakfast is absolutely terrible. Down right disgusting at my most recent visit on 1/6-1/7 2024. The biscuits were hard, weren’t fresh. May have been leftover from the day before. The sausage links were overcooked and dry. Eggs were cold. Just gross.Come on Chief Logan Lodge, get back to being great again please! This lodge has amazing potential, it just needs som refreshing/updating and cleaning!Rooms: Needs updating. Very uncomfortable beds.Food & drinks: Gross.

I've been here many times with family, and honestly disappointed in how it's being managed and has been alowed to fall apart. The rooms furnature to lighting are distressed, and torn, the breakfast was lazy and not that great. They just threw doughnuts out not iced straight from packaging. I know this because it's the same stuff we use in schools, we at least warm and ice them though. The pool and hottub have been out the last few times I've been up as well. I understand that everyone's trying to save money. However, I feel this is all a management issue, no updating done in years, to the fact that maintaining doesn't have the proper funding to accurately fix things. Other wise the location and staff is absolutely amazing.

Everything was really clean and the staff was all so friendly. Would definitely stay there again if i ever go back to the area.Rooms: Very spacious, bigger than most motel rooms. Very clean and quiet. Had adjoining rooms and when the doors were shut I couldn't hear my people on the other side.Food & drinks: Breakfast was very good. Wished we would have had time to try the restaurant.

I can't really give an accurate reading or description of the chief Logan lodge because I have not actually been there I just have driven by it. However, what I have seen is beautiful.

Great location and the common areas are very nice, except hallways. They have box fans and dehumidifiers in the hallways to combat the mildew. My room smelled strongly of mildew too. Highly recommend new flooring and better ventilation. Staff is friendly and professional. Once the floors are replaced and the excessive humidity problem is corrected - this will be a great lodge! Again, great location & great people!

I was so disappointed in our stay at Chief Logan as compared to other state parks in WV. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable. The hallways are super hot and the fans in the halls aren't helping. I had to go on a wild goose chase for ice because the signage said there was an ice maker on the third floor and it was no where to be found. Also, the lodge is on the other side of the mountain from the rest of the park. There is a mountain with a 16% grade between the lodge and everything else. Even worse, to get to the lodge from the park, you must go down the entire mountain to the main road and then go back up the mountain to get to the lodge. I wouldn't recommend doing this in the dark or in bad weather. The restaurant was horrendous. Avoid it at all costs!

The lodge is a great place and in a beautiful area! The staff always go above and beyond for anything you may need help with. The food at the restaurant is really good! But the rooms could use a major upgrade. The beds are horrendous and honestly quite painful in the mornings. A good mattress upgrade could do the place some good.Rooms: Upgrade the furniture and the mattress!

Loved this place. Seen a little bug in bathroom and the beds are hard. Other than that we loved it.Rooms: Was clean but found a bug in the bathroom. I'm sure it was a tiny roach. I didn't see anything else. The beds were hard and not much to cover up with. Bring your own blankets!

I didn't get the room I paid for. I paid for a room with French doors. Didn't get that. I was charged 20$ to check in at 1 pm on the 12th day of August. And when I got there at 1:35 pm my room was still not ready. And when did the hotel stop putting blankets in bed. All i got was 2 top sheets and a hospital like blanket in between them. The room was not clean. I didn't even take a shower the morning of the 13th because there was still someone else's hair in the tub. Sorry that is just nastyWas I offered a refund of the discount. No. So that's my last trip to Logan Lodge.Rooms: Awful. Not what I paid 162$ for 1 night. Not the room I requested.

Loved my stay at Chief Logan Lodge. It was surprisingly quiet at night even though the Lodge had a lot of guests. Carla, the sweet lady who made my reservation, was just so nice and so helpful. She allowed me to make a change to the room I booked after I realized that it was equipped for those guests needing handicap related facilities. She assisted me in every way possible and her patience and kindness was much appreciated. I would definitely stay there again based on my experience. 😊

The service and location is amazing! The beds are a little hard and pillow aren't that good. Nice dinning room area and good food. We came on new years weekend and unfortunately the pool was down due to pipes breaking so that was a bummer. We was going to take the kids to the recreation center but it was closed due to New Years, but other than that it was a good stay. I would definitely recommend staying here for a get away.Nearby activities: The park lights for Christmas is a must see! Great views from the hotel. There was also a wedding so I took pics the next day to show the room. It can also be bigger.

Great stay at a great price and I'm very picky. I almost didn't stay here because of the bad reviews!! They're false!! I was exhausted, everything else was way too expensive, so when I saw the exit for Chief Logan Lodge off 119 I drove right by even though the view was so gorgeous with the fall colors because of the reviews. I only reconsidered because there's a Mexican restaurant in the next town and I must have Mexican food. My bed is enormous and comfortable. The climate system works well with constant fan (for others like me who need white noise). I have a gas fireplace in my king suite!! So delightful on a fall day. I can't speak about breakfast because I haven't had it yet but I don't understand people who rate a hotel based on breakfast or a hot tub. Why would you want to sit in a tub with strangers anyway?? And while we're on the subject the hot tub is out of order. I'm not sure if the restaurant is operating. I suggest you call and find out. But if you want to sleep this is a great choice and again, the setting is stunning. One small criticism: poor sound insulation. You hear hallway noise way too clearly. I think that hotels in general need to start taking sound insulation more seriously. But the decor in my room is very nice and seems recently updated. I'm actually going to add pix which I'm usually too lazy to do. If you're a normal person, stay here. If you want to reenact Hot Tub Time Machine, go elsewhere.

We have stayed in the lodge several times in the past. Many great experiences. However, today, we went there for lunch. They had a taco bar and salad bar… I must confess.. I do not write reviews for any restaurants. This is a first for me.The food was absolutely horrible! I would never recommend chief Logan lodge restaurant. And I will never eat in the lodge again.

this place is very dirty. i ate at the buffet and we saw our waitress once. food was dry and literally couldn’t eat our country fried steak. when we first walked in the whole staff crowded around us. they were very welcoming our waitress did seem to not want to be there. we are not eating here again it is not worth the money. the salad bar was the only edible thing. dessert was very dry and seemed like it was old. would not recommend to anyone.

Staff was wonderful and helpful! Haven’t stayed here for a while but this trip was great! Rooms were very comfortable, perfect stay! An added bonus is the EV charging stations. I parked and had a full charge by the morning. If your in an EV, this is the closest place other than Huntington and Charleston to charge and stay.

The Lodge came highly recommended. We were excited to be able to get reservations there. I'm from Ligan but live in Ohio.We were in town for the funeral of my cousin. He always spoke highly of the lodge and all the amenities. We had toured the cabins a couple of years back and were highly impressed. The Lodge is beautiful sitting on top of a mountain. The rooms were your average hotel rooms. The pool area was the norm. The one wing was decorated for photo opts, but it was very cold. The venue had no heat in most of the areas.Heat in the rooms, pool area, and two upstairs private rooms, which we used for a family to get together after the funeral. The dining room could not be used to sit and eat, so back to your rooms, you took your food, or you sat in a lobby down the hall.WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE LODGE STAFF!!!THEY WERE GREAT. THEY ALL PRETTY MUCH HAD HEAVY WINTER APPAREL ON BECAUSE THE HEAT WAS NOT WORKING.NO EMPLOYEE SHOULD HAVE TO WORK IN CONDITIONS LIKE THAT.Being on top of a mountain was bitterly cold along with the weather being - degrees for days along with the windchill factor. The state should have stepped up and sent in some heat torpedoes or something like that for the staff and guests.

We came to relax, swim in indoor pool, use hot tub, star gazing as well as relax around a fire at night & eat in lodge restaurant without more traveling. Unfortunately the hot tub was not working & very dirty. The indoor pool also so cloudy couldn’t see the bottom of the pool or drain making it unsafe & not healthy for swimming. We were told at front desk they were out of firewood for the advertised fire ring & they didn’t know when hot tub or pool would be corrected. We were also told the restaurant had just closed which was only open on Sundays for a buffet & not to reopen until Tuesday for dinner. Sadly we had to leave lodge area for food. We had specifically called & asked about the indoor pool & hot tub before making reservations. However the front desk ladies are very nice! They have been wonderful!!! They are a great asset to this lodge. The lodge itself is very nice! The cleaning staff very thorough & nice as well! Sad to have such nice facilities with wonderful amenities yet they can’t be used safely…. The chlorine, ph alkaline should be tested & kept correct on a daily at indoor pool & hot tub.

Here is what I know from a 1 night stay:For $103 per night, for 1 person (plus tax).Room: The room is clean and all, bathroom is clean. No views for the location, but as I am on the first floor I expected that. Pillows are not standard size, they are like kid sized pillows. Beds could be upgraded, it's like a cot on a frame basically. TV is okay, no TV guide and half the remote doesn't work. A/C works well though. Has a mini fridge and microwave, and coffee maker. (The basics)After the night: my back would feel better from sleeping on the floor. I've never felt worse after an 8 hour sleep.Pool/hot tub: Hot tub is not hot in the slightest, it was lukewarm at best. Pool was warmer than the hot tub.Food: I have to say the food I tried was almost inedible, basically McDonald's level. Almost everything was pre-bought still in packaging or was from the freezer. I had to get a guest to give me directions on where the food was. Had to go elsewhere.Location: very nice and scenic overall, has various trails around as well as a rec center nearby. Has a small gift shop with some okay items, too pricey for what you get.
