Took my dog in for an eye injury. They did a surgery talked like they knew what the hell they were doing. Unfortunately the next day the eye was bleeding badly we took her down to UVA. There the vet had a lot of questions about who did this surgery. She the called in ophthalmologist he was highly upset. The surgery was done wrong the stitches that were used were the wrong ones for the eye. My dog is having surgery again to remove the eye that could have been saved if a qualified doctor had seen her. It has been recommended to me to report them I plan on it. And letting my lawyer handle the rest. If you love your pet don’t take them here.

I can't say enough about New River Animal Hospital. I first began taking my German Shepherd Emmeline there a few short years ago. Emmeline received the very best of care. I lost her way too soon because she just had too many health issues.The day my husband and I took her there having to say goodbye to her was one of the worst days of my life. The staff and Doc went above and beyond for us that day. The caring they provide is a rarity. The gifts I got in remembrance of Emmeline when I picked up her ashes melted my heart. Now they take care of my cats and my newest addition River. I just want to say that I appreciate Doc and her staff more than words could ever express. Thank you for your exceptional service that truly comes from your heart.

I must say New River Animal Hospital is the best to have your pets treated. I had taken Jill, my cat to them this past week. I had expected the worst news but it was good news. Doc Connie said all her conditions could be treated. That is the best Christmas present I could hoped for. They are professional and outstanding in their field. I have been going there for years. You can trust them with your pets. When you are there they make you feel at home and they honestly care about your fur babies. Love the whole staff. Just absolutely wonderful! If you need a veterinarian for your fur babies go to the NRAH, it’s only a twenty minute drive from Daniels. It is worth your time and care.

Everyone at New River Animal Hospital are simply AMAZING! I was really concerned today about Zeus (my German Shepherd) grooming appointment, as he can be aggressive with people he doesn’t know. Jackie and Angie took their time with him, loved on him and said he was an angel 😇. Also must mention my boy looks soo handsome and smells amazing! Great job ladies! See you soon!

scum bags. charging 180 dollars just to bring my cat in before I can even get her treated, because it's an emergency. they don't care about pets. all they care about is money. the woman receptionist offered me no other options and just hung up on me. i will never bring my pets here again. I have forked out hundreds and hundreds of dollars to them in the past to help my cat. thanks to them my cat might die.UPDATE: my cat died from cardiac arrest because they care so much for animals that they DEMAND PAYMENT UPFRONT, AND WONT EVEN GIVE YOU AN OPTION TO PAY LATER. NOT EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU'RE NOT RICH DON'T COME HERE.NOTE BELOW THEY ARE TRYING TO JUSTIFY THEIR GREED WITH ZERO SYMPATHY OR COMPASSION. THEY ARE NOT HUMAN.

The staff at new river took care of my dog for almost 20 years. Through multiple emergency surgeries and other medical issues. She recently passed away from kidney failure and they were so kinds during the process of cremation. I will always trust them with my pets.

The staff at New River Animal Hospital are amazing. My cat, Keira, had been sneezing. I was thinking, “maybe she has a URI?” We have had her with us for 2 months and she up and started sneezing about 3 weeks ago. We took her in a few weeks ago and they found she didn’t have a URI at all, she had conjunctivitis which was making her tear up in one eye and instead of it coming out of her tear ducts it went into her throat and made her sneeze. They gave us some ointment and she’s been right as rain ever since. She’s back to her normal diva self and it is all thanks to the staff at New River. She’ll be going here from now on since we were looking for a primary care for her! Thanks so much to you all for caring for my Keira! 💕

I highly recommend bringing your critters to this animal hospital. They have treated my Cracker Jack (dachshund) just like he was theirs. Even sending a text to check on him.And they even came across the road, in the pouring rain to put out Buddy (lab) down, when it came time for that.

We waited a month for an appointment which the lady told us would cost $85 and then $25 for sedation if needed. We get there to be told it would be $236.. seriously. The lady said it’s because he’s an extra large dog which I told them when I booked the appt and because of heavy matting, which I also told the lady who gave us the estimate and then they said he needed to see the vet?!! Seriously.. yeah nope. They weren’t friendly either.

I really like this vet. My boy has been expertly cared for. However, after my first visit, I feel like it became a money racket. For some reason my perfectly healthy dog has now had to go to the vet five times since march. I have spent nearly $1,500 since March. One thing I dislike about this vet is that they do not explain pricing up front, they do not give thorough Aftercare instructions and they have cats running around their Lobby all the time that live there. Each time I have gone in I have explained to them how severely allergic to cats I am and could they please move the cats to another room, they're only responses I'm sorry honey.

We brought two of our furry family to New River. One part of the visit was good and the other not so great. The good part is our boxer mix had to have a toe removed due to infection. The surgery went very well and Athena is doing great. The other part was about our Arnie. We took him to the vet because he wasn’t doing well at all. We just didn’t realize how unwell our Arnie was. There was nothing the vet could do for our friend so we had to have him euthanized. The staff was very understanding and sympathetic. They made sure we got to spend time with our little Arnie before the euthanasia. Although it was a sad day, I wouldn’t have taken my puppies anywhere else. They have always given our furry friends the best of care whether it was a visit with the vet or a grooming appointment.

My dog does not get scared going here. He always enters with his tail wagging. He is a pretty smart dog and would not go anywhere he was being mistreated or he didn't like. We have brought several of our animals here for vaccinations and examination without issue. We bring our dog to be groomed here often. We boarded him here as well. No issues. I would recommend them.

I just wanted to thank everyone at New River for the exceptional care they have given my dog. We have had a lot going on the past couple months and the whole staff has been nothing but extremely helpful. They have went out of the way to answers any questions or concerns I have had. His treatment has been time consuming but they have been very helpful. There prices for visit, treatment and medicine has been great. I wouldn’t take my dog anywhere else.

I brought my Standard Schnauzer to be groomed the other day. We move quite a bit and we are always stressed to have to find a new groomer. I have to say this is the best cut he has ever had! And my boy was as happy as could be so I know he was treated well. They also cut my lab/boxer's nails. Not an easy job. She isn't accustomed to strangers and is ridiculously afraid of having her nails cut. The groomer was patient and kind. The other ladies in he office gave my girl treats to help calm her. I highly recommend this clinic.

I love this practice. I especially appreciate that they are caring, kind and try to work with us 'parents'. I also am a big believer in trying to prevent problems and caring for my pets using a natural approach. They are open to my suggestions and actively try to find ways to accommodate my preferences.
