My wife’s family all came from Hinton, West Virginia, so we go back every couple years to visit. This visit was very special since we were here to bury our son’s ashes in the old family plot atop the mountain.And every visit must also include hot dogs at the Dairy Queen in town. Dunno whether it’s the toasted buns, the wieners, the fixings or the ambiance right on New River, but just the best southern dogs (mustard, onion, chili and coleslaw) ever! Not to mention the shakes, malts, etc.And if you stop in on a Saturday night, I believe you would the majority of town folks stopping by. After all, we travel from Tampa area to get here! Great food and great ambiance. Just a caution, they do get busy at times, but worth the drive and the wait.

Went on a Saturday evening got food drove 15 miles back to the place I was staying. Food was hard and looked gross. Was supposed to be 3 strips of chicken instead it was 1 small one and then two little round pieces. Ordered extra gravy not in there. Drove back next day to take the food back the guy acted like I was lying I even still had the food with me. Like what did I do eat the stuff then stop somewhere and replace the food...there wasn't anything else open and it's in the middle of nowhere. 2nd round of food was just as bad. Bread was burnt the chicken was hard and cold I drove 2 miles away and sat by the river to eat what I could. My blizzard was also melted when they gave it to me with no lid at all spilled in my car and made a mess. Never will I go again when I am in the area. Not to mention got there at 7:40 pm waited in line till 8:05 before I got to order then didn't get the food till 8:22 pm. Then 2nd trip in line for another 20 mins to talk to manager.

This Dairy Queen is in the most beautiful location I've ever seen a dairy queen. They have a huge dining area and the entire backside of the restaurant is all windows. It overlooks this gorgeous lake. If you're looking for a place in indoors where you can still see the beauty of nature, this is the place to go. The only downside that I saw to this Dairy Queen was that there is no drive-thru window, and parking is kind of iffy because they are right next to the main road.Parking: Very little parking because restaurant is located directly on the Main Street

They were short on help the evening we were there, so ordering took longer than normal. But, food was done promptly, hot, and very good. The staff that was there was very apologetic & friendly. This DQ undoubtedly has the most incredible riverfront view of any DQ you've ever been to. It was worth the visit to Hinton, WV!Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant

This Dairy Queen used to be the bomb! But I tell ya what, those are some of the rudest people i’ve ever encountered that work there. I looked at yalls website to see when you closed and it said 9:30, so I was like ok that will give me enough time to go down there and get a little milkshake ( usually takes no time to whip up ) so I get down there at 8:30 and pull up right outside the door and there was a pink haired girl and some other girl lookin at me shaking their heads and were saying smart remarks inside the store BEFORE I COULD EVEN GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE. I will not be back again and I strongly suggest you hire different management because you’re losing a lot of business that way. I’ve seen multiple reviews similar to mine and it’s just sad. Funny thing about it is, is that I woke up this morning to write this review and checked your hours again and y’all changed it to 8? Which is fine and but why be rude to me when it said online you didn’t close till 9:30. Anyways, Instead of being so rude why not politely tell me that you weren’t taking anymore customers.

Such a beautiful, relaxing view right on the river. Who could ask for a better place to eat ice cream! We enjoyed watching the geese look for fish while eating our lunch. My only complaints....the fries were overcooked and had a slight burnt taste to them, and they wouldn't use chocolate ice cream to make my blizzard (definitely not a fan of vanilla ice cream). Otherwise I would've given this DQ 5 stars.Parking: Off street parking

The rating is mostly for the establishment itself. This is the nicest and biggest DQ I have ever seen. A Riverside View while you are dining in, awesome! The staff was friendly and the food and ice cream were good. Parking can be tricky.

Extremely good food! One of the best Dairy Queens I've been to in a while! They don't have some of the options for the blizzards but the cookie dough I got was very good! Loved being able to watch the river flow as we ate. Such a beautiful place and ill definitely be back!Parking: Parking can get a little cramped during busy hours but you are allowed to park on the side of the road which helps.

I know what you're thinking "it's just another dairy queen". I know, I was thinking the same thing.This place is way more. 2 Large nice dining in areas with massive plate glass window views of the river. Their menu was much larger and more expansive than any DQ I've ever been to. This was very much a sit down restaurant that served blizzards more than just another DQ. Definitely worth a stop.

They have the best hotdogs in the world! The view is beautiful as the building hangs over the river. Seating outside as well as 2 areas inside. One of the sitting area's is a very open (full size window) room over looking the river.

Went on a camping trip at Bluestone State Park and ate here a couple of times for a quick lunch. Menu is different from other DQ’s but still has the basics of most DQ’s. Friendly service and you get a decent amount of food for the price. Enjoyed sitting down below by the river watching the water. You can tell it’s an older building and it’s a strange setup.

Beautiful day to take a ride to Hinton and enjoy lunch on the river. My mom had her favorite brown beans and cornbread and I had a cheeseburger with fried mushrooms. Cant beat DQ or the scenery!

The food here has really gone downhill. The hotdogs they were always famous for just aren't good anymore. We were there on a Saturday and it used to be packed. While we were there, only two other people were there. Came up by Kirk's and it was absolutely PACKED! That should tell management at Dairy Queen that they are doing something wrong and Kirk's is doing it right.

I went to Hinton Dairy Queen on Monday, July 24th. My family and I are normally big fans of this establishment. However, after what happened today, I do not think we will be returning. We went around 4:30 (far before they close) and we were being treated as if we showed up 5 minutes before closing time. The girl who took our order was very rude, gave us a nasty look the entire time, and acted like she could care less that we were there. My food was good and was brought out fast, on the positive side. Just wish this would have felt like a welcoming experience, as it has been in the past. Very upsetting.
