What an incredible venue! We had our wedding here in September, and rented out the cabins for our guests. The Ceremony location itself is beautiful- the overlook was definitely a favorite among our guests and was so incredible that we barely had to decorate the aisle, the scenery was more than beautiful enough . The Reception area fit our guests perfectly, and had a perfect amount of room for everyone to either relax on the porch, dance, or enjoy the outdoor spaces. Our guests loved how we had the entire property to ourselves - we did a lot of exploring. the stars at night will leave you speechless. The staff are excellent- Amy took care of everything and even fixed a small hiccup from our caterers- you truly won't have to worry about anything from small details to keeping a schedule, moving guests, and keeping everyone happy. Our family is still talking about how beautiful this venue was!

We just had our wedding at the Confluence Resort and the entire weekend exceeded my expectations. We rented their two houses on the property for our parents and bridal parties to stay there with us. Had so much fun during the rehearsal dinner with a fire pit and s’mores down by the rustic barn. The entire venue is so naturally beautiful. Amy the venue coordinator was absolutely amazing and so helpful behind the scenes the entire wedding day. Can not express enough how great everything turned out, I wish I could relive it again!

The Confluence Resort offers a beautiful backdrop on a rock cliff for your I Do’s, and the perfect building for your reception. So many photo spots to take advantage of. As Wedding Photographers we love every opportunity we get to be at this venue.

Five stars all around. Owner was great and friendly to work with. Was always there and quick to respond if we needed anything. The land and views were gorgeous, the Patterson house and the other two cabins were top notch, clean, and a great space for families and the wedding party to stay all weekend. The bride and I let the owner know what our vision was, but then we kept our focus on having the most fun possible and the owner made sure that everything else was as flawless as possible. We had our rehearsal dinner by the barn, the ceremony at the overlook, the reception under the tent, the after party bonfire by the barn, and the sunday brunch by the Patterson house. It all was such a great experience for all 120 guests, so much fun, so gorgeous, and such a great time spending with friends and family. I was asked no less than 10 times that night, "HOW DID YOU FIND THIS PLACE??" We couldn't have imagined a better, more low key, almost Heaven, West Virginia wedding and it wouldn't have been possible without the owner and his family.

Review for future Brides The Confluence Event CenterVenue: The Confluence Resort in Hico, WV.The Confluence Resort is on a beautiful piece of property. The reception hall and cabins are gorgeous. The venue can easily be described as picturesque. Unfortunately, there is a long list of grievances that covers almost every other aspect of the experience. To start, you are responsible for providing everything for the reception except for tables and chairs. While the hall does have a kitchen area, you will only find a small fridge, a sink (well water on tap) and an ice machine. All dinnerware, drinking water, chair covers and table cloths must be provided by the renters. The renters are also responsible for setting up everything in the reception hall, except for table and chair placement. The venue says they provide table cloths, but the cloths they had were wrinkled and stained. The coordinator employed by the Confluence Resort, Amy, stated that the table cloths they provide are typically used underneath the linens that the renters provide. That was not communicated to us prior to the day of set up or we would have provided our own. The set up felt rushed and it seemed as though Amy wanted to do the bare minimum. Speaking of the bare minimum, the bridal cabin did not have a working refrigerator for the entirety of our stay. There was one attempt at a solution, which included bringing a new refrigerator in two days after our initial complaint. The new refrigerator did not work either. At that point, we were provided with a cooler full of ice for the remainder of our time there. When confronted about the lack of communication, Amy provided excuses that seemed inappropriate for an impersonal relationship. At one point, Amy told our hired coordinator that she did not have an emotional connection to our wedding and because it was the last wedding of the season, she did not care how it went. The poor quality and lack of communication had an adverse effect on the overall experience. Our contract stated that the hall could accommodate up to 200 people. However, that was not the case. The owner of the Confluence Resort, Pervis, stated in an email one month prior to the wedding day that the maximum amount of people was actually 150, despite the agreed upon contract. Both Amy and Jim the property manager were rude, insensitive and lacked personal and social skills. The poor behavior and horrendous attitudes of both Jim and Amy towards our family, our coordinator and our guests were absolutely unacceptable.Overall, the physical location and buildings were great, but the Confluence Resort was not pleasant.

We stayed in the Hemlock house. It was fantastic! The views, private trail system, hot tub, and more. There is so much to do in the area but you may find it hard to leave this slice of almost heaven. Treat yourself!

I would highly recommend (6 stars if possible)The Confluence Resort for a beautiful, rustic but yet elegant, stress-free outdoor wedding! My son and his beautiful wife were just married there this weekend and it was just perfect! The owner, Pervis Major, and his staff were so wonderful to work with and kept us calm, and reassured us that this would be a no-stress wedding. Even if the weather wouldn’t cooperate, and it would rain, we knew there were back up plans available such as under the large reception tent, but better yet, he said that his staff can easily use power blowers and get the trail and overlook dried in no time and still have the wedding of our dreams there! This venue had everything we needed, such as three large cabin houses on the property with all the amenities ( including clean, relaxing hot tubs), Pervis was our day of wedding director, getting us to where we needed to be on time, directing shuttles with golf carts, trash removal, had our bonfire lit and ready to go after the tent reception, all the drinks iced down, and just friendly to everyone! Some venues that we had checked into you had to do a lot of this yourself or hire it all out. We liked the fact that it was all inclusive here. The preferred vendors that we used, Fish Hawk Acres, Bessie’s Floral, and The Station, were amazing too! They had worked together with Pervis for many years and everything was delicious, beautiful, and ran so smoothly! Well worth checking this place out for your next wedding or event. My nephew, Michael Alsop, and his wife Katelyn James Alsop Photography took some amazing images for us. Please check her blog too, for more photos soon.

We had our wedding at The Confluence last weekend. It is a gorgeous venue! We were able to have our family stay with us on site which helped a lot since we represented 8 States! Amy, our coordinator, was Fabulous!!! She even found us our rainbow in the evening! Somehow the rain held off so we married at the Overlook-it was everything I dreamed! We didn’t need a lot of decorations since the venue surrounded by nature was beautiful in itself! Pervis was always responsive with my questions along the way. I highly recommend this for any event! Thank you all for providing us with “almost heaven”!

I cannot recommend The Confluence with enough enthusiasm. This location, the quality of the venue, the staff (especially Amy), and the convenience of everything they provided was spectacular. The beauty of the location speaks for itself, but what made our wedding special was really the venue and Amy’s professionalism, kindness, and incredible amount of hard work. Sure, it takes a lot of planning and preparation on your part to pull off a great wedding, but not all of that is the responsibility of any venue. Everyone was so understanding, flexible, and helpful. The depth of what they provided was so convenient. I can’t imagine a better place to get married. Our contract, and our calls and meetings made well in advance with Pervis, Amy, the florist, and caterer, let us know exactly what to expect and how to prepare. You should take the necessary time to fully understand what you will need. I would think this goes without saying, but like almost literally any wedding venue, you should plan to arrange for the reception and ceremony site to be decorated according to your preferences—including decorative tablecloths if you want them and your choice of tableware. It wasn’t a problem at all. Pervis and Amy gave us access to the venue nearly 36 hours ahead of time, which is nearly unheard of.Our caterer had no problem pulling off what many people said was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. Yes, the kitchen area is not a full-service working kitchen. But again… if you look at it at any point ahead of your wedding day, you would know that and be prepared. Pervis’ recommended caterers are all very familiar with the venue. We got several quotes, and all the caterers had no problem with the kitchen.Frankly, Amy worked her absolute tail off. We could not have done this without her—she is what really made the wedding great. She worked extra hours before the wedding to accommodate our rehearsal dinner at the venue site. She was there early on the wedding day and filled in with prep work when our caterer was an hour late. She organized our rehearsal and the ceremony itself, which she ran like a well-oiled machine to perfection. She was there early on the day after the wedding and helped us tremendously with cleanup. And most of all, weddings are a lot of work and stressful for everyone. Amy’s professionalism and experience was a calming force. She was so kind, understanding, and hard working. We will remember her with appreciation forever for making our day so wonderful. It is unfathomable to me that anyone could walk away from an event with Amy and think anything else. The wedding hall is not enormous. But Pervis and Amy made it perfectly clear well ahead of time that 200 people would make the reception very crowded. That should be obvious to anyone who stepped into the wedding hall and took a moment to think about it. We had 100ish people, the DJ and dance floor, a buffet, desert table, and full bar. There was plenty of room, and we probably could have had 25-30 more people without any noticeable change in the amount of space. We don’t have a single negative thing to say about the Confluence. Our guests loved it. The cabins were perfect and incredibly convenient. The venue was beautiful. The fire pit area was so much fun and a great little extra perk. It was the perfect wedding.

Can’t say enough good about this gorgeous venue. I had around 300 guests and I had so many say to me that the location was unique and wonderful. From the magnificent overlook and barn to the professionalism and now a brand new facility... this event center is what dreams are made of... Pervis puts everyone at ease and he can do it all! Look no further for all of your wedding needs... he has the best recommendations and knows how to run a wedding. There are so many picture perfect places here as well. We love the Confluence! I highly recommend it!

I would highly recommend The Confluence Resort as an outdoor, rustic wedding venue. We just had a wedding there this past weekend and it was absolutely gorgeous. Pervis Major, the owner, was great to work with and helped us with all our needs. We held the rehearsal dinner at the barn / shelter area, the wedding was at the Overlook, the reception under the large tent, and then a relaxing time at the bonfire! We also held a Sunday Brunch on the front patio area. The property also had three large cabin houses where the families and wedding party stayed, which was so nice not having to leave. Very neat and clean and had all the amenities, even hot tubs!I had never heard of this beautiful wedding resort venue before a friend mentioned it, but SO glad we checked it out...! It’s Amazing!!

The Confluence Resort is an amazing place that I would highly recommend!! I could never say enough nice things about it.From the moment my daughter and (now) son-in -law booked it for their wedding which was this past weekend, Pervis and the staff were extremely helpful! Very knowledgeable about what we needed to bring or NOT bring (just as important), always willing to answer questions or give advice, they made our experience very relaxed and memorable! They are very easy to work with. The venue itself is without compare!! What amazing views and landscape! Such a perfect place for an outdoor wedding . The staff made sure that the rehearsal and the wedding day ran like clockwork, relieving any stress off of the family! It was amazing! The houses there are large and spacious to accommodate families coming in for the event. Very neat and clean, beautiful inside and out with spectacular wooded views all around. I didn’t want to leave!!

Absolutely beautiful venue! My family and I traveled from Connecticut to attend a wedding at The Confluence Resort this past weekend. We were stunned with the beauty of the property and gorgeous views. The staff and owner were all friendly, helpful, and professional. I plan a family reunion each year as well as other large corporate events and wish I could always find such a perfect location with such incredible people. Highly recommend!!!!

I attended a wedding that was held here over the weekend. The views from the overlook where the ceremony was were incredible! The scenery of the whole place was gorgeous. All of the workers there were very friendly and helpful. The drive out to the resort is long and windy but it's so much fun! The house looked big enough to hold a lot of guests. The place was super clean. The outdoor area with picnic tables and a fire pit was nice too. All in all this was a great place to have a wedding/event. I would recommend it.

Our daughter had the most amazing wedding at the Confluence this past weekend. I know we had no control over the weather, but the location on top of the gorge provided a beautiful upper 70’s day in the otherwise heat of summer. The venue overlooking the mountains and rivers was the perfect backdrop. The owner and his staff were very professional and accommodating. He helped to keep us on track, which on a wedding day can be a bit like herding cats. The great on-site rental property ensured we never had to leave once we arrived on Friday. The barn was also perfect for the rehearsal dinner and when the wedding party was over, we all retired to the pavilion for a campfire and s’mores. We looked at LOTS of venues before deciding on this one, so glad we made the right choice.

My day was literally made perfect by how this place handles everything! Amy really went out of her way to help out and make everything picture perfect and for that I am so thankful. I mean come on this place itself is breathtakingly beautiful! Anyone getting married I will recommend this place every time.

What an absolutely gorgeous venue! From the moment we drove up, I knew the wedding we were attending was going to be special. I was blown away when we arrived at the overlook where the ceremony was being held. It is such a unique place, with some phenomenal views over the West Virginia mountains. After the ceremony and reception, guests were invited to stay for a bonfire down by the barn, which topped off an already fantastic evening. Definitely one of my favorite weddings and venue to date.

Excellent venue for our wedding reception! The farm is beautiful and they went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs. Our families stayed in the two houses on the premises and loved their time there even on the days before the wedding. The overlook out onto the river canyon is phenomenal. We had a great experience, I highly recommend the Confluence Resort!

Our Hico business needed chairs for a meeting, on a chance, we called The Confluence. They were so very helpful and easy to work with! We picked up our chairs, had a great meeting and delivered the chairs back the next day.

Over the years, I have gone to multiple weddings and other events at The Confluence. It is one of the most beautiful venues in the state. From the overlook, to the pond, to the rustic barn, it’s a dream. There are modern, well decorated cabins to rent and plenty of room to camp if you like to camp. There are trails to explore if you have the time. It’s a perfect place for kids, as there is ample room to run around and play. The people who run the Confluence are unfailingly gracious, wonderful hosts. It’s always a pleasure to see them in action.

The Confluence Resort sits atop the picturesque West Virginia mountains where we attended our grandson’s wedding a week or so ago. The setting was magnificent and the concerns we had about logistics were in vain. Pervis Major, the owner, appears to be unconcerned...but he knows exactly what he is doing and managed our group of 120 with ease. We stayed in one of the cabins (more like a nice home)...which added to the joy of being with family. We hosted breakfast for the groomsmen and we loved the interaction between the young men in a perfect setting. The overlook site for the wedding was intimate and ideal for such a sacred ceremony. The grounds and facilities covered all our needs. I’m still in la-la land, daydreaming about a perfect weekend.

A truly spectacular destination for hosting an event or getting away from it all. The views and scenery are incredible and make for an amazing backdrop for a wedding or a enjoying a quiet stroll in nature. The staff are professional, courteous, and prompt. Whether you stay in one of the beautiful houses (and) or host an event in any of the several venue options, you truly can’t go wrong & you won’t be disappointed.

When we got married at the Confluence, we hosted friends and family for an entire week running up to the day of our wedding and the whole experience was magical. The venue, the setting, and sense of place was absolutely perfect. And even more than that Pervis, the owner, ensured that every detail was perfect. Whether he was prepping the grounds so they were just so, helping us wrangle vendors, chauffeuring a grandmother to and fro, or toasting our nuptials with an earnest and heartfelt congratulations he made us feel like family. We have recommended the Confluence whole heartedly to countless friends. It truly is an amazing place.

We have stayed at The Confluence Resort many times over the past several years and always 100% satisfied with an incredibly peaceful experience. Blended family with a bunch of kids and growing number of grands fit perfectly in the Vandalia House. The trail hike down to the actual confluence of rivers is a must-see for nature enthusiasts. Well done!

If you want a crazy beautiful venue that highlights all the amazing things about Wild Wonderful West Virginia including frank, courteous, and trustworthy hosts, then you've found your place!I grew up in WV and spent many a summer camping, hiking, and paddling in the vicinity of where The Confluence is now located. Decades ago, I moved out of state but WV has always held a special spot in my heart. The Confluence became one of those places that I'd return to periodically to get away from it all. Perhaps more importantly, it became THE place that I brought close friends, 'new' family, and co-workers to when I wanted to share with them all the wonders of WV.Over the years, I've probably rented portions or all of the venue out with family and friends for events on at least five different occasions. . . .including my wedding!Whether they were co-workers and friends looking for a long weekend getaway from the Washington DC area, a family Memorial Day weekend celebration, the highlight of a dear friend's visit from overseas, my wife's grandmother's first and only visit to the States. . .The Confluence NEVER disappointed. As a random coincidence, my friend from Brussels just wrote this past weekend regaling with stories about how special our time together at The Confluence was for his wife and kids. That trip was 4 years ago.Of course, The Confluence probably isn't for absolutely everyone. There are always a few people that may not appreciate it. That said, of the hundreds of people that I've been there with, I've never heard anyone walk away disappointed! And that was before it bordered on the newest National Park in the country.Pervis, thanks for helping to create so many amazing memories for my family and friends.

Beware!!! The Confluence advertised as a beautiful wedding venue is FRAUD. The building does not hold 200 people and is falling apart. The bathroom doors were boarded up and portapotties were placed instead. The barns were falling apart as well. The entrance to the Confluence greets you with a falling down, boarded up shack that use to be a house. The main building has no kitchen facilities. And, worst of all none of your guests will ever be able to find this place. If you like one-lane unimproved gravel roads, then this is the place for you. The Confluence is so far from civilization, no caterers will be able to bring hot food! This facility has no business calling itself a wedding venue.

The most beautiful wedding venue resort I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The views on this property are absolutely mesmerizing. Even if you're just an out-of-towner, you can certainly appreciate all of the compassion and hardwork this family has put into their business. Your needs come first here. We won't ever forget it!

Met two business partners here for a fall planning session. The lodging was quiet, clean and exactly what we were looking for. As 2 of us were from the coast of North Carolina, we thoroughly enjoyed the hiking and topography. The fall foliage was stunning. We enjoyed the hospitality so much that we have already scheduled for this up coming fall.

The Confluence served as the location of our engagement party, our wedding and our going away party when we moved from WV. Each time it was perfect. Our wedding was the greatest party I’ve ever attended and my wife’s family and my family stayed on site for a couple days. Pervis, the proprietor, went above and beyond at every turn to ensure we had a great time and didn’t have to worry about anything. Can’t recommend this place enough. There is magic to be found on this land resting high above the Gauley and Meadow River.
