We drove 4.5 hrs here yesterday to adopt Dexter! He is perfect. Their facilities were clean and the adoption process was so smooth and easy. Everything they reported about Dexter is accurate (he is so friendly and is house trained, and ADORABLE). Dexter is our dream dog and we can't thank you enough for taking him in and caring for him until he found his forever home with us!

Eight years ago, I saw a dog on Petfinder at Ritchie County that called to me. I lived four hours away and didn't know when I could get there to pick up the dog. They assured me that if I gave my word that I was coming for him, that nothing would happen to him. I'm happy to say he's still here with me.

We found our new family member here. Luka has found her new favorite person as well, she just loves my granddaughter. Who also loves Luka back...as do we.The individuals at the shelter were knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. I would love to have a copy of the picture they attempted to take of us - through Luka's exuberance lol. Thanks to everyone there who helped us to have a little more happiness in our lives. ❤

Such a nice facility. Clean and comfy. Staff were very nice and helpful. Although I went there to pick up one kitten, I decided our new boy needed a friend. I wasn't rushed in making my decision, I picked another. They are so 😍.

I can't say enough good about this place. I adopted a Great Pyrenees from them and was really impressed with the care and compassion they have for all their animals. My sister then went and adopted a black Pitt mix named Jimmy. He now named Moon Pie. Well worth the drive. Go get your next best friend. One thing they do t take debit cards so you need cash or check. Also they dont do same day adoptions unless you have already filled out an application and are approved. But again this protects the animals and that's what it's all about.

On a visit to the north bend state park we stopped at this shelter as we enjoy visiting the dogs. Being a "rural" shelter we weren't expecting a whole lot but I tell you this is a fantastic place. It is very clean. The dogs and cats are extremely well cared for. The small dogs had rooms up stairs while the larger dogs were housed in the basment with a doggie door to access the outside own when ever they felt like it. Luckily they only had about 15 dogs at the time but they had 85 cats and kittens. The cats had their own space as well housed around 4 to 10 per room. The director we met was VERY friendly to talk to and knowledgable about each animal. I would HIGHLY recommend a visit here and you will be pleased you did. Very impressed to say the least. We thank them for all they do to help the neglected animals in that area.

If I get too mean, I'm sorry, but I feel very strongly about this. About 2 weeks ago, I had a really bad seizure & was in the hospital for a week. I couldn't even remember my name (it was bad!). While my mom was in the hospital with me, my mom's beautiful dog unfortunately got really sick. We weren't sure what was wrong with her. We tried everything we could think of. So the next day from getting back, they called the Humane Society & had to make the heart breaking & difficult decision to give her up & take her to the Humane Society, so they could HOPEFULLY save her because we just couldn't afford to take her to the vet. (NOW LET ME SAY SOMETHING HERE... MANY families out there cannot afford a vet bill. Many families struggle daily to keep up with their everyday bills (prob including some people who work at the humane society. I know several Nurses who work at a hospital that struggle. This world is difficult... S#*T HAPPENS!!!) You'd think the Humane Society would know that... BUT they decided to use this situation as an opportunity to blast my mom on facebook, & make comments such as, "If you can't afford the vet bill, than you don't deserve a pet!" They posted that picture after the dog died, while blasting my mom so everyone could see it, & THEN decided to call my mom days later to let her know what happened.) NOW, this place knew exactly what was going on in my family. My mom told them about her being in the hospital with me all week & didn't know her dog was sick... my mom cried to them, asking the Humane Society what she should do because she REALLY didn't want to get rid of her, but she also didn't want to watch her die either. My mom just wanted to find some kind of hope for our dog! The Humane Society told my mom to go ahead & bring our dog to them... all while telling her to calm down because she was so hysterical, & telling her that everything will be OK. They were so nice to her, to her face, and trying to make her feel better. Which was nice at first & my mom thought it was sincere. Until about a week later when my mom saw their post on facebook blasting her on purpose, & TRYING to make her feel like S#*T... like she didn't already have enough issues . Just like everyone else in this world. She's been taking care of me for 2 weeks now doing everything. I've been bed riddin' all this time. The Humane Society knew what they were doing when they posted that. AND YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! That post probably made you feel real good about yourself.... I'm glad destroying other people's hearts makes you feel good. But it just shows the kind of people you are.Believe me, I could go on.... but I'm done entertaining these people.

They take wonderful care of their animals. It was very clean in the kennels. Didn't go inside as they were closed to the public at that time. The animals all looked very healty.

Newer facilities, very clean, animals are well taken care of. Staff is friendly, informed, and accommodating. Large yards for the animals to play, exercise, and do meet/greets.

They helped me with an emergency. They're good kind people. Donations would be so welcome.. They always need help for everything they do for our communities.. and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... ADOPT.. DON'T SHOP!! There are many little lives in there that are just very anxious to love and protect you and your children and your home. Animals like these are afraid bc they live day to day wondering what they did wrong.. They just WANT to love you!! So PLEASE... Lets ADOPT! What better time than NOW.. Many of us are sitting at home with nothing to do.. Why not invest your time in giving a helping hand or adopting a lovely pet.. You will most likely have the time during this covid 19. And why not.. By the time life resumes as per the norm.. Then they too will be adjusted!!**** SO AGAIN...PLEASE****ADOPT ... DO NOT SHOP!! THESE ARE WONDERFUL PETS.
