The Dari Owl is my favorite place around to go in the summer for ice cream. I've only lived locally about eleven years and I first discovered it by recommendation by a friend because my daughter was lactose intolerant and they were the only place around (at the time) that carried Dole Whip. As a 3 year old, it was super exciting to have a place to go where she could actually get something. Even though when she was about 8 or 9 she finally outgrew it, we have still been loyal patrons. The options are vast and the portions are large. They don't skimp on the toppings. I personally love that they have marshmallow topping that I can add to my peanut butter sundae. And there are plenty of tables to sit down and eat at. The dogs even look forward ro the drive across the river. Unless the tubeman is out. 😂We've made it over several times already this year and are eager for our next stop.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid! Even as an adult, it is still home to my all time favorite ice cream! The woman who runs the shop does a wonderful job and the staff is sweet, friendly, and efficient! The sizes have always been generous and the soft serve ice creams and weekly dole whip flavors are delicious!

Tried brownie meltdown.. it costed $6.75 dollars.. brownie meltdown comes with vanilla icecream and you have option to change the icecream if required. Also whipping cream and nuts are optional. We are confused of selecting banana split or brownie melt and we decided to go with the meltdown. Brownie meltdown was yum and adding nuts was best decision.. the place was very nice… it would be nice if they had seating around the store..there is plenty of parking.. the staff were really nice and helpful. Must visit place before summer is done.

Amazing ice cream and customer service. Love this small hometown business that has been open for over 60 years. The ice cream is delicious. I love the soft serve dipped. Big yummy. Also bring my daughter every year when we come home. It’s a must do treat.

I have enjoyed going to Howdy’s Dari Owl since I was a child. I now bring my family. The ice cream is delicious. I get a mixed soft serve cone. My son likes to get a little face made out of edible candy on his ice cream. I love going here for the nostalgia. This is a family owned and operated business and one of a kind. It is a busy place, but well worth the wait. It’s a tradition for our family. We will definitely be getting more ice cream there this summer.

This little road stop has the best ice cream and good menu around. The vibe is so fun. Great meet up with friends or to cruise your new bike or car to. The staff is fabulous and super accommodating. The prices are fantastic. Great place to people watch!!

Obviously not a 5 star restaurant but for sure 5 stars for a drive-up icecream shack!We had food first was good and then icecream for dessert. There's a small picnic/shelter area in back, so you don't have to eat in the car. By the way... I've been going there for 50 years or longer but I don't remember. Lol

Ice cream here has been a good regular summer treat since forever. Cash only can be a bother if you dont know to expect it. They have waffle cones with a great variety of flavors and even some hot foods on the menu, a good all around stop for summer snacks of a meal on the road.

Best ice-cream around hands down friendly staff. There's usually a line but they keep iy moving so don't be discouraged I've been damn near the road and had my ice cream with 5-10 mins props to the staff

This is actually-Monica. I remember as a child dad saying get dressed we are going to Dairy Owl after a long day of playing and swimming. The ice cream is still the best around. The food is great too.Can’t not mention the amazing pretzel meltdown.Support small business in Follansbee!

I made the mistake of getting a banana split. Generally not a picky eater but the ice cream was already mostly melted and it was a gloppy mess of maraschino, chocolate, and pineapple with half a banana sliced and mashed into the container. Pineapple and chocolate is not a great combination in melted slop. The staff looked swamped and the window was shut on me as soon as she handed me my order so I just took it and had to throw it away 5 minutes later. Save your time and money if that’s your craving, you’re better off getting something else. Went for the nostalgia and regret the heck out of it.

We have taken our kids here since they were little. All are gown men now and still love a trip for the brownie sundae. We can’t wait for opening week and are sad on the last day of the season.

I have loved Dari Owl for over 16yrs. My kids love Brian, like he is family. Why Because it's a small family Business and you become Brian's family. He treats his customers the way he was taught by his father.If you grew up playing baseball or softball in the area, I am sure if you had a hot game or won your game. Someone probably treated you to DariOwl. I know our coaches did, and so did my son's coaches. Kids around here wait to see the Boards are off the building in the spring and are sad when they go back up in September.The year is 2022, Brain just like Howdy, employees his local high school kids to work the counter. Which not many place still do this! Inflation is through the roof and he put his number out there for the customer to see. He does this because he cares and loves his customers. You will not find a corporate company willing to show you their order forms and prices or any numbers for that matter.I stand with DariOwlNation for life!

They have good ice cream and the staff is friendly however, you cannot get a hand dipped banana split. They offer soft serve. Van, choc, or twist. They do have a variety of hand dipped flavors. If im going to spend $5.00 plus toppings on a banana split I should be able to get it hand-dipped.

This is a very nice place that was around in my childhood and remains today. The only drawback is that they only accept cash. The soft ice cream is very good. Service is excellent!Parking: It has a lot of parking even though it doesn't look that big.Kid-friendliness: The employees are very patient with the children when they place their order.

As a business person. I enjoy reading your posts about how and why you run your business. Seems quality, customer service and passion to contribute to the community and being part of the community are cornerstones of your success. You are a good business person and community leader with an even bigger heart. I used to live lots closer as in about 10 miles away but for 37 years I've been elsewhere building a career. Mostly in Kansas City and the past 3 years splitting time between the Midwest and Fresno California. Just thought you would want to you have at least one follower 2700 miles away. By the way, I see those late night posts to your loyal fans. When do ya sleep? Yep, I know. Life of a small business owner. Sleep in the off season except for all the off season time needed to plan and prep and build next year. Keep on doing what you are doing. I enjoy watching you and your your familys' success story unfold each year and each day. It's probably 50 years since I remember my pap stopping here with me headed from follansbee or wellsburg to weirton but knowing the boards come off every spring brings comfort that all is still right with the valley back home, regardless the challenges faced, because people like you find a way to persevere. Stop by, enjoy a treat and support local business. You'll smile for many reasons but for sure because for a minute you'll be a kid again too.

The Strawberry Dole is the best around!!! I love getting it to-go by the quart! Minus one star for cash only, WHY is this still the case? I would probably stop by there more often if they took card... and I know I am not the only one!

By far the best ice cream in the valley. I have been coming to Howdy's Dairy Owl since I was little and will pass that tradition onto my son for as long as they are open. If you pass by and have never stopped, do yourself a favor and pull in, you won't regret it!!!

We had both hot food and ice cream when we visited. The wait for the food was a bit long, but it was pretty good. (Just know that the steak hoagie is more like a burger, not philly style.) The ice cream was ready quickly and pretty good! Nothing earth shattering, but it was all about what you'd expect.

Tried the “pretzel meltdown” and it was excellent. Hot fudge for real not the “chocolate sauce” version. I don’t know what species a “dari owl” is but I am glad it survives in WV!

All the ice cream from cones to banana splits are very yummy but my favorite is the Dola sherbet in a cone, flavors vary weekly.
