Stopped in not knowing what to expect. Was greeted by a beautiful Dog Morgan. To my surprise I found a great place with an awesome selection of Hardwood and Live Edge slabs. Mike and his crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. All around great experience. Easily found everything I was looking for, Great quality material at a good price. Will definitely be stopping by every trip to Fairmont. Forget about the Big Box Stores Crap lumber. Call Mike and check out his awesome selection of hardwoods at his mill. He also has epoxy pouring classes available.

My brother and I are in the process of making our very first project - a coffee table. We drove about an hour to visit Holt Lumber because of the wonderful reviews and responsiveness from Michael (the owner of Holt Lumber). When we arrived, he was so incredibly kind and helpful! We left with some amazing ash boards. His shop is INCREDIBLE, as he makes very high-end custom products. We will certainly be customers of Holt Lumber for future woodworking projects!

Was passing through the area and googled lumber yards. Holt lumber showed up and I wasn't disappointed. Easy to find and right off of interstate 79. Mike Holt is a wealth of knowledge and was eager to help. He has a huge selection of live edge and hardwood lumber. I explained my project and he helped me pick out wood. What a great experience getting some black walnut from Holt Lumber. First I was so impressed with the quantity and quality of different species of lumber Holt had. Went there today to pick out a live edge slab for Jeff to turn into a shelf. Can not recommend Holt Lumber enough! Mike went above and beyond to help us pick out the perfect slab! My DIY vibes were in overdrive! He has so much pretty wood to choose from! I wanted one of everything! He took the time to flatten the piece for us. Even though it cost a little extra, it was totally worth it, and we got to watch him work. Also, he explained to us how to finish it. You can absolutely tell he cares about the beautiful wood! Also, a bonus was the dogs running around the farm. Jeff and I are huge dog lovers, and the two Great Pyrenees as greeters and the hyper little Blue Healer made the shopping experience even better!

I needed some birch wood billets/blanks so a family member can turn a couple baseball bats for my 12 year son. I can find maple and ash blanks everywhere online, but not birch...at a reasonable price. I contacted Mike at Holt Lumber Company about my conundrum and he got us exactly what we needed. Within a few days, he obtained a birch log and cut me out some blanks. The price was very affordable and the customer service was on point. I can’t wait to go back for future woodworking projects. Recently I visited Holt Lumber in Fairmont WV. The owner Mike is extremely helpful and friendly and his wood is super high quality at a competitive price. While the pricing is comparable to other sources the quality is outstanding and the wood is surfaced on two sides and straight line ripped. That saves a ton of time and ensures you get what you expected from the lumber. Mike is very knowledgeable about wood storage and helped me out considerably in that arena. The variety of wood is expansive so there is a good chance he can meet the typical and professional woodworker needs. Check it out if you are in the area. I drove in from Ohio.

I met Mike @ Holt Lumber for the first time the other day and had a great experience at his store. This was a first for me, purchasing lumber from a smaller local lumber company as I always just went to the big box stores for my materials. I researched the process of buying rough cut dried lumber and really was a little overwhelmed because of the varying opinions on moisture, board foot measurements, how to pay a fair price, selecting the best planks etc. I think Mike sensed that I was not experienced and instead of taking advantage, he took the time to review his process, board foot measurements and provided me with a detailed explanation on moisture content (along with forwarding me a bunch of links to acclimating wood, shrinkage, oven drying to test moisture). Mikes level of customer service, the fact that he took the time to educate me, and his competitive prices means I’ll be a return customer certainly.
