Really good deli food. We stopped by and got the best potato wedges you’ll ever eat. While there we spotted these big cat head biscuits. They were huge, and only 1.99! They had several different types; chicken, sausage and egg, plain sausage, and shaved ham. Soft and fluffy; they made for a great quick breakfast on the road. They also have fried chicken, and several other items they rotate throughout the week. Staff is usually friendly, some of the older crew are persnickety sometimes.

Just ran into the deli for a quick take out meal. Got the steak, not sure of the name, like Salisbury steak, corn and Mac n cheese, roll. Very good! For $6.99 you can't beat it! They have a few booths that you can eat in too.

Nice local grocery store. Some great sales. Nice deli. Not the local hometown "we'll try to take care of you" feel. Product issues they were more than happy to fix, but seemed no concern that that product may have an issue that may concern other things on the shelf and other customers. It was a frozen product that had obviously been thawed at some point.

A "small" mom and pop store, has been in the area for long time. Products are a little more expensive than your typical grocery store. Decent selection. Staff are friendly. In store restaurant that makes amazing potato wedges and fried chicken.Edit-03/28/24: I believe the store is under new ownership and no longer a small family owned store. Staff are still friendly, layout remains the same, prices are still relatively the same I believe. I will say the quality of the chicken and potato wedges have gone down in the last 5 years though. Still decent food though.

This is a great grocery store, they are just the right size so you don't get worn out getting the milk. I thought the meat department had the best cuts of meat I have seen in a long time, although I didn't like their hamberger. The produce department was clean and full of fresh fruits and vegetables. Over all I was impressed with how nice this local store was. It was refreshing to go into a smaller community store were they make you feel like family. I will go shopping there again soon.

Great little local store with a surprisingly large selection, some of which you won't find anywhere else nearby. Come in before 8 on weekdays for locally renowned biscuits! The deli meats and meals are well priced and are often worth more than asked for. That being said, there are a few cons. They tend to employ high schoolers while still in school, so expect slower service and sometimes rude staff. Prices are higher than necessary for many items and the store is a little bit dirty.

Great neighborhood grocery store. They are apt to carry different items than all the regular chains. On the downside, the prices are a bit higher. The deli is fantastic and the employees are super friendly and helpful. It is one of the few stores that still checks out the groceries, bags them and will even offer carry out if desired. The sister store always carries out the groceries. Carry out is almost a thing of the past today with many stores moving to make the shopping experience all done by the shopper, including checkout and bagging.

Food is often spoiled if you don't take precautions to add extra time to your shopping trip to inspect it. The staff is not helpful in these cases and a large amount of staff are rude most of the time. Not the cleanest store either, it's an older building in much need of a deep clean in many areas. Produce is hit or miss. Often produce spoils in 2 days after purchasing once we get it home.The selection is okay but not a wide variety of options or anything spectacular to keep me coming back.

With personal knowledge of how management treats it's employees, it's no wonder they are understaffed. In addition, if you have to shop there, be very aware of the constant over pricing and over charging at the register. They also have a habit of ringing up items more than once. I never shop there, but I do have to listen to my wife's complaint's whenever she has to.

Smith's Elkview location is the largest of their two grocery stores. This location has good produce and good fresh meats with a butcher staff. This location has an awesome deli which has all the cold meats and cheeses AND serves breakfast sandwiches in the morning, hot lunch/dinner meals, and truly awesome fried chicken. The staff is loyal, which speaks volumes, and many local students have called Smith's home for their first job while in high school. Smith's still offers friendly carry out service, which is a thing of the past in the chain stores. Speaking of the larger chain stores, I find Smith's to be as economical as any other, and weekly specials offer even more savings. Definitely worth a trip!

Would give 5 stars for the alcohol selections but you have to really inspect some of the food. If youre careless when shopping, you can get home with spoiled and expired items. And to make matters worse, the employees have been argumentative when I attempted to return bad food even with a receipt showing it was just purchased. As long as you are diligent when making food selections, you can have a good experience with this store. Additionally, they often have seasonal party supplies, toys, holiday items that you just don't see at the big chain stores.

Just went in for a couple 2-liters of soda. Nice little country grocery store. Clean and well stocked. Soda prices were about the same as getting them at a gas station, but it's not a giant store like Walmart.

You can pay 4 dollars for a cold sandwich (with no condiments already on it), and be treated rudely when you ask for mayonnaise from the bakery girls. Oh and I’m 24, I don’t need to be called “hunny” with an attitude just because you’re old. Learn some manners.

Great prices on beer and wine. Carrie's some brands other places don't carry. If I am looking for Guiness this is only place in elkview where I live that has it so this is my go to place.
