I’ve never stayed somewhere with so much charm, character, and comfort! This place is perfect, everyone we encountered was super friendly. Rebecca was outstanding! All of her drinks were amazing! The lobby was so cozy with a fireplace. Perfect for your nightcap while staying there. The rooms were definitely “hillbilly fabulous” we will be counting the days until we can come back!

Stayed one night back in 2019 on a long road trip and have been missing it ever since. Place has no business being as cool and good as it is, but they make it their business. Bartender talked to us about mycology and told us which bar the best band was playing at that night. Owner made us coffee the next morning. Trying to find an excuse, any excuse to come back.

Can't say enough good things about this quaint roadside inn. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and loved that they had Chromecast in all rooms. Thoughtful touches throughout that tell the management truly thought about their guests. Morning coffee was served in a French press with a smile. We loved that Josh was spinning records while he served up awesome cocktails in the bar (oh btw, all rooms include a drink!). We really enjoyed the mushroom stew with warmed French bread after a day on the slopes. (15 minute access to timberline and Canaan ski areas) Don't tell anyone about this place! The Billy Motel is an absolute gem in Davis. The interior design is tasteful and classy. Service is absolutely amazing. Bar atmosphere is really pleasant and they have a complimentary drink and coffee when you stay at the motel. Staying at the Billy really elevated our experience in Davis/Thomas. The heater was a bit loud but they do offer complimentary earplugs. Pillows were also a little on the soft side.

Daughter & I had a ski trip to Timberline this week, but got cut short due to her breaking wrist. We checked in late Tuesday the 2nd. Bartender was very friendly and took the time to check us in. Since it was dark the place looked cool pulling up with the lights and snow. It reminded me of the ski places I stayed at as a kid up in New England. The place was plain and simple, had a vibe of the 40's/50's. Room was very clean, shower water was hot and loved the pressure. Bed was the best bed I had in a motel/hotel. Like others said the heater was little noise, but the ear plugs helped that they supply.First day of skiing we had the accident and was back to the motel about 1 pm. We went into the office/bar area (Bar atmosphere is really pleasant, wish had the night to go to it) and talk to the workers in there about what happen. And to see if we could get credited our room back for the night since we were leaving to head home to get daughter's wrist fixed. They said we need to talk to the mangers and they told me about the cancellation policy. I said to them I know and read it and totally agree. Just thought I would ask to see if it could be done. So we went out to walk to our room and the you lady came out to us and said the managers are willing to credit you the night. Sorry about your daughter.Just for this reason I will be back again! Small town, small business with good people running it. The people we met there were awesome. Thank you Billy Motel for you understanding. We will be back again and will highly recommend you.

There is a lot to love at this exceptional and affordable motel, bar and restaurant.The service is top notch. Every interaction I had with anyone who worked there exceeded expectations. The owners have chosen great people and trained them well. I had great conversations with all of the staff and they seemed to genuinely care about my experience.The bar and restaurant has a very special mid century modern vibe. Decor is edited well in jewel tones.I only had dessert and a mocktail. Drink was refreshing and not overly sweet, carrot cake was beautiful and delicious, crème brûlée had very thick sugar crust and strong flavor.Rooms look much LARGER than on the website. They are decorated in a vintage style. We had no issues with noise. I forgot they have ice chests in place of fridges so we did struggle to keep our food and drinks cold. Don’t bring too much. Again the service, style, value made this a favorite stay.Nearby activities: Skiing. Hiking, visiting art galleries.

Perfect location in the Canaan Valley resort area. The rooms are quaint, and the shining star is the Ish kitchen and bar with the cozy fireplace and full service bar. The food is an eclectic menu with -ish foods. Viet Nam-ish, Mexican-ish, etc. Have been here 4 years in a row for a friend's birthday weekend and hope to come for many more!

Visited the restaurant and the food was amazing! Starting with how clean the property was, inside and out I was excited and they delivered! The meal presentation was superb, I had the Tofu Ramen Noodles and the flavor profile was... It was an experience. I really can't describe how great it was other to say I tipped my bowl and drank the broth to ensure ALL was sampled! The staff was great, all questions answered, if they didn't know they asked and yes they were busy but they still took time to take care of the customers and ensure we felt welcome. The Billy is a wonderful testament to what a business could be and clearly can be! Please bottle what makes this place great and sell it to other folks who struggle to be mediocre!!!Food & drinks: Visited the restaurant and the food was amazing! Cute, retro motel with an amazing bar?!?! Yes, please!!!!The Billy definitely doesn’t disappoint! I was so happy to find an affordable, pet-friendly spot so close to things that I wanted to do while traveling through the region!Joy and her crew are the BEST! Kyle is a phenomenal bartender and somehow made a dirty, gin martini that converted my partner! Now, after 12 years of trying to convince my boyfriend that martinis are great, it’s all he is talking about!We didn’t get to try the food, but when we were checking out, which isn’t till noon!, the food prep was happening and it smelled AMAZING!!!!!I think the only downside I could mention is that we were there on a Monday and Tuesday and most of the town is shut down. Obviously, this is no reflection on The Billy, but with very few food choices a microwave would have been lovely. That said, in hindsight, if I had asked them to heat my improvised, gas station, pepperoni roll dinner, they probably would have! I could have also gone a few blocks away and bought a pizza, but I was having too much fun at the bar!Finally, they offer amazing French press coffee till noon! Way better than a keurig!Rooms: So cute! And super awesome that they have a pet friendly room. Just be aware that there is no fridge.Nearby activities: 5 minutes from Blackwater FallsWalkability: Right in Davis. Can walk to restaurants and shops. Convenience store directly across the street.Food & drinks: AMAZING!!!

Stayed here before a Dolly Sods backpacking trip and it was AMAZING. Cocktails and cheeseboard (one of the best I've had!) outside in the fenced-in patio, then a leisurely dinner in the restaurant with some truly great local craft beers on tap. Only a handful of rooms, but the restaurant and bar draw non-overnight guests as well so it was a nicely vibrant yet not crowded atmosphere. Felt like we spent all evening eating and drinking and our final tab was really reasonable! The ambiance and service are top-notch. Our stay here felt less like a place to crash before a hike and more like a vacation within itself - highly recommended!

Had the absolute BEST experience at The Billy! We brought a group for the night to celebrate my husbands birthday and everyone left raving about the place - from the perfectly appointed and clean rooms (with special touches like handmade soaps), to the free drink tokens, to the fabulous cocktails and food at the ISH, to the free French press coffees on the way out - wow!! It’s such a magical place. Thank you so much to Joy, Josh and Chris for making the evening so special and memorable. The Billy is truly a gem!

I can't say enough good things about this place. We stayed for a long weekend, and we loved every minute of it. Dinner and drinks with Josh are reason enough to go! Next time we're staying longer and bringing friends. I ❤️❤️❤️ this place!Rooms: Retro. I loved it.Nearby activities: Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley are a short drive away.Safety: Never felt more safe.Food & drinks: We couldn't decide what to order, so we tried them all. Each one was as good as the next. If I do it again, it'll be Panang Chicken and Carrot Cake. And probably a Rusty Nail.Noteworthy details: Every member of the staff was amazing to talk to.

I had the best experience ever at the Billy! I was just passing through Davis and got caught in an unexpected snowstorm and decided to stay the night. As I was traveling by myself, I was a bit nervous but felt so safe and welcome. The employees were so friendly and recommended some fun things to do for the evening. The hotel itself was clean and cool. The decor was fun and there is a cozy fireplace in the bar/lobby. They also had so many nice little things that made the experience special like complimentary drink tokens, delicious coffee in the morning, and even a cooler ready for adventures (which I sadly didn’t get the chance to use). While this stay was unexpected, I’m already thinking of an excuse to get some friends together and come back.

I recently used the Billy Motel as a base of operations for a photography workshop in the area and spent several days there. The Billy Motel was amazing! Everyone was super friendly, the location was very convenient to everything we wanted to do - including Davis and Thomas for downtime. It was very handy to have the motel bar onsite as a common area during the afternoon and for some unwinding in the evenings. Will definitely return on my future visits and workshops to this area of West Virginia!

This quaint roadside motel was perfect! Super cute on the outside and even cuter in the room! My favorite part-- a bottle opener attached to the counter in the bathroom!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I thought it was so clever!The bar was awesome! I loved all the art and wallpapers! The staff was so friendly, we met Josh and Al on Sat! And I met Kristen on Sunday! You get to enjoy two free cocktails during your stay and they offer a delicious rich French pressed coffee with thick creamer in the morning! Can't wait to visit again!

Laden with cute, thoughtful and artsy touches. A very comfortable bed in a simple and unpretentious mountain escape.The restaurant/lounge really makes the experience. It's welcoming, intimately lit and not too loud. This spot attracts a mix of locals and guests, and the staff were attentive and entertaining.We sat at the bar for dinner and immediately made two friends! The menu was healthy, fresh, inventive and ample for the price.All on one level which makes it accessible and convenient. Dog-friendly with a patch of grass close by for those late night pitstops.

The free drink tokens was a nice surprise, the bar/ lobby area has a decor you have to sew for yourself, its very interesting. The rooms you can see that they have done alot of work to them, they are bright, clean and comfortable! Only downside was no mini fridge or microwave.Rooms: Very clean just missing mini fridge and microwaveNearby activities: Perfect location to visit Blackwater falls or the little town if davis!Food & drinks: Free drink tokens are left in each room!

My husband and I stayed at the Billy Motel for our one year wedding anniversary, and we are so glad we did! This motel has the coolest mid-century mod vibes and our room was the perfect place to relax after hiking each day. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! We ordered almost every vegan option off of their ever changing menu and the staff happily brought everything to our room and set it up for us. Everything was plated beautifully and I'm not lying when I say this was my favorite dining experience of 2020! We would go back just for the food alone! We loved our stay here and can't wait to come back again!

As much as we would love to give this motel 5 stars just on presence alone, we can't. The pictures are wonderful of this place; however, it is an old motel that has been renovated. When you walked into the room, the smell was just overwhelmingly musty. A very damp smell. The room was also very cold. Hence, the portable heaters that are in the room as well as extra blankets. The style is so eclectic, very modern hipster.When renovating they used the cheapest thing out there to put on the floor for carpet. It's that cheap indoor/outdoor carpet you use on a boat floor. The room also came with ear plugs, which we ended up needing because you could hear the other people simply talking in the next room. We both wished we brought eye masks because even with a blind and curtains, the lights still shined into the room all night long. Our wall heater, the second evening, had a light come on that shone right in my face all night long. They didn't offer any cable TV or a phone to call the front desk. They offered free wifi and actually said, "there's free wifi so you can log onto your streaming services if you want to".The worst part about the room though, was, as soon as we checked in, I had to use the bathroom. I sat down and looked at the floor and there were other people's hair on the floor in the bathroom!!!! I was thoroughly grossed out and went to ask for a broom and a mop because if there is hair, they probably didn't sweep or mop the floor. The broom they offered had mounds of hair on the bristles! Hello??? No wonder you are not sweeping up the hair. Anyways I cleaned it up. They didn't say sorry, offer a discount or anything , and I'm sorry but when you are paying $120 a night, you would hope for better.So, they give you these free drink tokens to use in the SUPER COOL lounge/bar. Very cool vibe. Neat decor, very well designed. However, the food and drinks were insanely expensive, especially because the portion size was so small, not too mention, you didn't even get a full drink. They served my margarita in a Mason jar, packed with ice, and the amount of liquid was 3/4 full. Yes the drink was free, and tasty, but it would have cost $13 without the "free drink token". 🤯I don't have a problem paying for anything if it's quality and worthy. The Vietnamese leaves were 3 little leaves with over cooked sausage inside for $12. The Bao Buns were $16, and there was hardly any meat in them.We get it; it's a "resort" town, but Damn! Very much over-priced.
