I had a great experience at Blackwater Bikes. All the folks here were great, but I engaged most with Sue. Sue was extremely knowledgeable, resourceful and patient. She took the time to explain the basics of the bike to me (this was my first time mountain biking), watch me practice and provide feedback, and make recommendations as to the best trails for my experience level (which was ZERO ). Thanks largely to Sue, I had a great first mountain biking experience.

Excellent shop and very accommodating. We had a brake handle snap and stopped in for an emergency repair. It turned out they were closed but some folks were there and let us in and replaced the handle, that’s above and beyond service, thank you Blackwater Bikes!

Great service! This is the only place I get my bike fixed. When you need things fixed, they will talk you through all the options so you know what you are getting. Prices are very reasonable and your money is always well spent. Also, their shop overlooks the Blackwater River so of course that is a plus too.

We showed up needing to wash some dirty bikes because Black Bear Resort doesn't have a hose that they allow guests to use. The owner was totally cool about letting us wash our bikes and one of the locals hanging around the shop gave us some good advice for our ride the next day up on Spruce Knob. Class act all around.They were also social distancing and wearing masks which I appreciate.

Rob and Matt have years of experience biking in the area and working on bikes. They will get your bike up to its optimal performance and put you on the right trail for the conditions and your skill level.I just bought a Tule T2 Classic hitch rack from them and couldn't be happier with the product and their service. It's definitely worth considering when upgrading your current rack.Their new shop is one of those places you have to stop by whenever you go through Davis. You can't go wrong there.

I visited the area for a week in june. Blackwater bikes rented me brand new e mtn bikes on a multi day package for a great deal and then pointed my so and I in the right direction to ride. We had a blast. The shop owner also came in on his day off and sold me a longer seat post for one of my personal bikes. Cant say enough good stuff these guys made our trip a blast!

One of the best bike shops in the state. These folks are great and very helpful. They not only work on bikes but work hard on the trails in the area to give us the best mountain biking anywhere in the state. Stop in and say HI, pick up some trail snacks, a great trail map and get the lowdown on super trails.

We stopped in here to see if we could rent bikes for the day, and the owner Rob was extremely helpful. He suggested that we stick with the bikes we brought down and not go with the fat bikes that we were ready to rent. He was really honest and is obviously an expert in mountian bikes and the area. He then helped us find a trail that would be good for us! We followed his advice and we had a great time. Definitely recommend checking out this store for beginners, intermediates or advanced bikers!

Full disclosure, I grew up about 1.5 hours away from Blackwater Bikes (BWB) and purchased my first "real" mtb from them in the early 90's and have returned countless times since then when I was in the area after moving away. BWB has always been iconic in my mind...the setting, the lore/charm, the people, local legends, etc. Bike shops like like BWB make a community and they've certainly helped make Davis/Canaan Valley what it is today.On a recent trip back to WV to visit family - I now live over 1,000 miles away - I just had to drop into BWB while riding Davis/Canaan. Suffice to say, it's still the same super friendly feel, with the highest of customer satisfaction first approach from the moment you step in the door. While I have some great bike shops near my home today, nothing...and I mean nothing...has that feel, aura, and history that will ever replace what BWB has in my mind (past, present, and future!).

The web site claims that they have rental bikes, that wasn't my experience. I expected them to have an inventory of rental bikes comparable to the outfitters in Ohiopyle or at the Lehigh Gorge but that wasn't the case. They had 3 or 4 rental bikes in size large or extra small, I use a medium. Call ahead.

Had cash in hand and a deal lined up for used bike for my daughters birthday, with the high likelihood of purchasing an upgrade through them for myself.Come to find out it was sold unexpectedly a day before my arrival. Left me high and dry with plans to put it to good use shot for the weekend.Disappointed as this was the surprise gift and without the opportunity, would have had another one waiting for her. We are unfortunately repeat visitors to the area with family nearby, leaving my 7 year old daughter with nothing for show, the disappointed embarrassment that I endured now has shamed me from wanting to think of doing business with them.Please do better next time. Your reputation and support for your local area is at times greater than turning a few dollars.

Worst service I have ever experienced. Never been treated worse at a bike shop. Better customer experience at Wal-Mart.......If you had said that in the shop and not out in the parking lot instead of "oh I'm not renting you a bike today" it may have been different. Instead you decided to insult me. I stand by my statement that you have the absolute worst customer service ever.

Canaan rhymes with pain mountain series back in 80s was a hoot. We used to go in from DC with some bike messengers and party like a muv. First place i learned to duct tape your mtb shoe to your ankle
