Their rooms are clean, warm and comfortable every winter. It’s our go-to for skiing in Canaan Valley. Really enjoy the food and service at the restaurant. When my son forgot something in our room that was important to him, they did a really great job of getting it back to us which we really appreciate.

We stopped here for lunch and it was delicious 😋. It took a while to get the food but the lady working was taking orders, cooking, and checking people out...bless her heart. So we of course understood the wait. We had the chili, beef vegetable soup, and the roast beef sandwich (omg!). Perfect homemade food.

Loved this place yes it's older, the negative comments are ridiculous. What did you think you we getting for this unbelievable rate. This area is remote and beautiful and the food couldn't of been better. The staff was the best if you have a problem with these people you are the problem. Stay in that area to hike couple times a year first time here it is now my go to.Nearby activities: So much to see beautiful area, but if you want to enjoy it you got to be prepared to drive.

Pet FRIENDLYI read the negative reviews. If you want luxury you should stay at one of those. My relatives have stayed here multiple times. This was my first. We arrived on a holiday and a call to the number at office brought a nice gentleman by car in mere moments. My room was clean. The hotel is a little weird with the entrance outside to a hallway in front of the rooms. The place is a little dated but everything worked and the place was clean . The location is fantastic. You could easily walk to downtown Davis and you are very close to Blackwater Falls State Park. Short ride down to Thomas.Nearby activities: Davis, Thomas and Blackwater Falls.

Not expecting anything fancy and it was an old but clean pace, or so I thought. Stayed Saturday night and then left that Sunday. Come today Monday and I have bed bug bites all over my body. Went to the Dr. who confirmed that it was bed bugs instead of something else. My email is not my real name but I booked under "Alexander Neff" and stayed in room 209. I rented 3 rooms. Thankfully other two rooms noted no issues. Tried to call Alpine Lodge today and NO ONE is answering. I have about a dozen bites from one night, that is insane. Pics attached please excuse my stretch marks lol.

Unsure how this place is getting good reviews. We felt unsettled and unsafe the second we walked into the office. The “receptionist” never checked for ID or made sure the card matched and seemed miserable. The room was dirty with either cigarette or mold stains all over the walls. The beds were old and the box springs under both beds were stained with what looked like blood splatter and sweat. The shower was still wet and was chipping. It felt more like a weird jail cell than a motel and we ended up leaving after 20 minutes of thoughts and feelings like, “I think we might die here” and driving to another place that is much more comfortable for the same price. We didn’t even ask for a refund. We just left.Safety: We did NOT feel safe here. We left immediately.

This place was cheap, but now I understand why. The room was filthy. There was splatter on the walls, which I hope was dirt or coffee. The mattress had a big stain on one side. The chairs had an inch of dust on the wooden part. The sink faucet and bathroom mirror had something on them. There was also supposed to be a planned power outage in the town that the hotel attended didn't tell us about, and we would not have known about, unless we looked at all the papers she gave us. Each lampshade was messed up. There was no dial for us to adjust the temperature in the mini fridge. The shower had paint chipping off, and the pressure was too high, and it felt like you were getting pelted. The TV remote wasn't working properly and was stuck on one channel, and when we told the person running the front desk about it, she laughed. The only good thing about this place is how close it is to everything.

The location of this lodge is the best thing but that is where the good part ends.Rooms are shabby, corridor stinks of cigerrate, the entire property is perhaps 50yrs old, every inch of this property is crying for a renovation. We were given a room which was not ready, had to go back to reception and get another room.Fun part, the restaurant is open only on Wednesdays.

We didn't stay here but enjoyed the breakfast. Could have been a little cleaner; however, super friendly staff. We got there right as they were switching over from breakfast to lunch, but they still made us breakfast. We ordered the French toast made with their homemade bread😋 a side of fried bologna, and a breakfast bowl. Plus a glass of oj. The bill was under $25. Very pleased. We would eat here again.Noteworthy details: The bake their own bread!

Have stayed here repeatedly and found really nothing to complain about. Given the price point people need to simply understand what you are getting in an older motel. It's clean, room is serviceable and comfortable. If you want high end stay somewhere else and pay more.Restaurant is same vibe, outdated, service can be a bit slower but you don't come to the Highlands to rush around like " where we're from"......good food, good service, GREAT buckwheat pancakes!!

This review is only for the restaurant. All I can say is stay away they serve the most disgusting food on the planet and their servers have the worst attitudes you’ve ever dealt with.

I have never really felt I have ever needed to give a bad review in all my travels, this place was not really all that bad BUT THE BEDS WERE NOT CLEAN. My bed had hair in it and one room had cut toenails on the floor and in the bed, the restaurant was great. It's an old place and they need to step up on the bed changing and vacuuming. SORRY but this is the truth, and the only help I got was a card with an email and no answer, I have photos but I want post them, it's not worth it, if you stay there just check good.

The staff was very accommodating. The bathrooms where awesome. They had heat lamps in the ceiling offering a sauna like experience. Plenty of hot water pressure. We had a nice quiet stay and will be returning. They are pet friendly on the bottom floor and wheelchair accessible. They also have a diner in the motel with kind country staff and good home cooking meals.

Not to sure what to say about their food. We got to order it but the service was very slow. We only ordered creamed chip beef on toast, we waited 45 minutes and still didn't get it so we told them to cancel our order and we left. There were several other that left also. They seemed under staffed.

We stayed at the Alpine Lodge for one night. It’s an old building with a lot of character. The room was clean as long as you don’t move any of the furniture. We moved a side table to use as a seat and it was kinda gross. The WiFi did not work in our room. Forced us to actually interact with each other. Thankfully a Dollar General was down the road and we picked up some cards and board games. Verizon cell service is basically non existent there as well. Bathrooms have hot water and a lot of pressure. It was a unique place to stay. Not sure it was worth the $120 a night with the other available options. The restaurant had a good breakfast. The surrounding area is amazing and we will go back. Probably not the Alpine Lodge. But, if the other place we want to try is booked, we’d come back.

We didn’t stay with them but came in for lunch with a large party. Portions were generous especially for price and the service was excellent. Would return in a heartbeat. Hit sawmill for a nice home cooked meal. Atmosphere is a bit dated but the food is what matters and it’s good, and comes at a fair price!

Great location to the Blackwater Falls. The room was large and clean. Our visit was only overnight and all was good until we had to try to sleep in the beds... the beds are horribly old, you roll to the sunken middle, and they are very soft & uncomfortable. Price of the room was good, TV worked, wifi did not work, could not adjust the heat, warming light in bathroom did not work, no one was available for checkout and when you called you were directed to a voicemail. Most things could be overlooked but the beds...the beds were terrible and with all 4 of us being over 50, our bodies couldn't have handled another night.

We stopped for a late lunch on Mother's Day. They had been overwhelmed with patrons and upon being seated they explained they were out of most everything. I asked what they could get us and she said blt's and I said "perfect". So we waited and waited. Come to find out they had one cook and there was a large table ahead of us. Finally we got our food which was good. Meanwhile the owner came out and apologized, then the cook came out and apologized also. I was given some free cinnamon rolls for Mother's Day and for our waiting. Nice people, just short of staff.

What you would expect for a modest inexpensive motel in West Virginia. The Room was clean and rustic. The hot water was blazing hot. One critique is the check in process was very slow. We also ate breakfast at the restaurant which was surprisingly good. Much better than I expected. If this review was helpful to you, please give it a thumbs up!

You can tell the restaurant has history and sure enough it's been there since 1970s! Nonetheless, the food is wonderful and homemade. The waitresses are friendly. It was the comfort food we needed after getting caught in the rain during the hike in the state park.
