We adopted a kitten 2 weeks ago and it has been such a great experience for us to help a shelter animal in need! We had to say goodbye to our older cat and needed to get our other cat a friend. The shelter includes so much in your adoption fee and she has been a blessing ever since we brought her home!

I've gotten 2 cats from here over the years. They've always been the sweetest babies and well taken care of. The staff is friendly. The shelter is pretty clean, of course it has some smells but that's animals for ya you cant expect it to smell like roses! The clinic staff is absolutely wonderful. They are very helpful and knowledgeable! I honestly go here anytime I'm looking to add to my family. Thank you guys for everything you do for these animals.

Walked the dogs that are up for adoption. Very nice shelter and animals are taken very good care of. Nice hiking trail to take dogs on that's beside the parking lot.

I was very impressed! The facility and staff are amazing. I adopted a puppy there last year after several visits. Everything is included in the adoption fee: spay/neuter, initial vaccines, booster vaccines, microchips, first week of veterinary care, and discount coupons for supplies. The shelter was busy, but they tracked the adoptions very efficiently with a computer. They sent me text reminders for appointment dates. After a week, they texted just to offer help if I needed anything. Upon follow-up visits, they had my dog's records in their system. I haven't seen this much efficiency at any other business or agency. The staff really care about the dogs. You can just feel the love and care they give every animal. They remember all the dogs by name, even when the dogs return for follow-up visits. The facility was surprisingly very clean and orderly. Everyone there is willing to help any way they can. They are knowledgeable and professional, but most importantly, they genuinely care about each dog as if it is their own family.Their website is updated daily with new dogs available for adoption. So check it before you go there. There's no pressure to adopt, and the staff always seem happy to receive visitors. The dogs love visitors. And you can take them into individual outdoor play areas. If you don't find the dog perfect for your family, then just come back again later. Even if you choose not to adopt after many visits, the dogs will benefit from the time you spent socializing with them.Honestly, I was initially hesitant to go there. I thought it might be a sad and depressing place. But after I left, I felt happy for those dogs, knowing they received care and attention. I feel proud of our community for having a facility like this. All dogs deserve a permanent human family. But thankfully, homeless dogs have this caring temporary home.

Tracey was so helpful and very kind. She helped us adopt a kitten and gave us so much advice. She listened to what we had to say and truly went above and beyond for us. I am very thankful for her working there and she is definitely the reason we will continue to make the drive to adopt from this animal shelter. Could not recommend this place or Tracey more!! Go see all their animals and ask to speak with Tracey!

We adopted Phantom the 1 year old cat on Oct 20th. The facility itself was pretty bad. The shelter was a bit run down, cramped, and very smelly. Those poor dogs were outside in the mud while it was actively raining. The wet dog smell hung heavy even while outside. The cat rooms smells like poo, and the individual litter boxes weren't clean. There wasn't enough parking, and there wasn't a space to sit and interact with the cat before adoption. That said, the staff was friendly, and the adoption process was ridiculously quick and cheap. The place seems to have a lot of heart, but not much funding. Our new cat seems to be in good health, but for a neutered cat, his bälls are massive.

We tried adopting this pup, but she ended up being to much pup for us. She's very loving and playful. Would do get in a home with kids. Likes to chase cats but wasn't trying to be mean. Her name is Flora, we called her Brownie. I hope she gets a great home.

This place is so full of compassionate people that honestly love animals. We adopted a pup from there instead of buying a pure bred and he is loved so much.

I have adopted two cats a dog here. All adoption fees cover spay or neuter, they did neither for my cats and would ghost me when I called and asked for sn appointment of which was supposed to be made before the cats even left the shelter. Did I mention that I also fostered here? No reason to treat anyone that works alongside them or adopts from here like that. Before adopting my dog I was told she was fixed and had good house training. And that she had absolutely no medicine or illnesses. Wrong she had severe bloody diarrhea of which I could not afford to fix. I tried calling intake for the pound so she could have proper treatment at the very least or someone to adopt her who could afford big vet bills. But every time I would call they’d straight up ghost me. Id call and they’d be on the line for a moment then hang up on me. BE SO VERY CAREFUL WORKING WITH THIS SHELTER OR ADOPTING ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE LOW INCOME!!! And as a foster they told me food and litter would be on them as well as meds. Wrong again, they provided meds sure but other than that they left me without food for those babies for days. They can’t get their story straight about each animal down there. When I asked about my dogs history they told me six completely different stories.

I have rescued my Macey cat about 2019 on a $10 sale. Now I just adopted a new dog to add to our family and his name is now CoCo! We love this little guys ball of energy and silliness. Great place to rescue animals. It’s a very pricey for smaller dogs which I believe to be ridiculous. Just because they are higher demand? $200 ??and it doesn’t cover them being fixed or shots! Yes I paid it but come on It’s not like they have to hold on to them long. Makes no sense.

I am proud of our no kill shelter. They take great care of the abandoned pets in their care. They do all they can to help animals find good homes.

Love this place. Take wonderful care of the animals and are very helpful to assist with any problem. I took a young dog there, very anxious with his behavior and ready to give him up. The lady there who works with animal behaviors, sat me down and explained what I could possibly do to improve the situation. I really love the dog and did not want to give him up even though I thought I would have to. After talking to her I took him back home and I'm so glad I did. He has turned out to be a wonderful dog and I wouldn't give a million dollars for him. I cannot sing their praises high enough! We got him a playmate and he cannot be happier. They are both the light of our lives.

We are more apt to adopt the elderly pets there at the animal shelter because they need the most love and everyone seems to pass them by. We adopted little Miss Gladdy, as I am going to call her. She needs to be spade before she leaves the place. I can't swear she is 12 years old by the way she acts. She does some pretty far walking for a little lady her age and supposed to be so old.

We went looking for a dog to adopt. A lot of them to choose from. We found a little girl ! The adoption process was very easy and she was scheduled for surgery in 5 days and then we can bring her home. A lot of really sweet ones just waiting for a home. Staff was very helpful. Fix Charleston is in the front of the building and has affordable vet care. We will go back for future adoptions.

Well lets just say that the humane officers can no longer be called dog catchers ! But they will come out and give you dog treats so that you can try to get someone else’s dog thats trying to hump your dog thats in heat out of your fenced in yard ! Also if your dog has been taken there then timing is everything and you must get them from there asap because even when they know its not a stray they will put a chip in without your consent within a few hrs of receiving them ! Thats not right ! AlsoIf you can’t afford to get your dog out then they can be talked down to $0 or just walk out with them !

Kind of a shock. I went there to get a fur baby and they did everything to make it happen for me. The help they gave me, showed they were willing to go above and beyond for their little furry friends. They do seem a little low in some areas, but, make up for it in other ways. Supplies and some helpers are just a few things they are needing help with. Remember that this should be one of the first places to go to get your long awaited furry friend or two.

The staff are kind and it is very clean inside. Animals have good sized cages. That being said, the whole place is very confusing. The front door is not obviously marked, when you walk in it’s confusing where to go (the building has a strange layout). I could overlook this but the real issue was the cat room. There were quite a few cages with multiple cats and zero information on them. I could not tell who was up for adoption and who was already spoken for, since they keep adopted cats still in the public aisle! I also could not get basic information on some of the cats with no information cards (ie are they spayed/neutered) and the staff seemed so busy, it wasn’t worth the time to track them down and ask about each individual cat. Nice enough place but I’ve been to a few shelters in my time and just seems a little unorganized.

Best shelter experience I’ve ever had!! The staff and volunteers in the cat area were so sweet, patient and helpful. You could tell they loved the cats❤️ Adoption was so smooth and easy, I ended up adopting two cats!! Shelter was clean and cats seemed happy. 🐱If you’re going to adopt, I HIGHLY recommend.

They are piling too many neuters and Spays on top of Fix em all clinic. Why are you not handing out papers for low income to take to their vets? Why have you not got a new vet either? They can't take all these people. It's causing it to collapse. 6 months waiting to get a dog neutered they told my friend. It took me over a month to get in with a cat. It definitely looked different out there too this last time. I can tell it's way too much.

Shame on you.My daughter recently agreed to foster two kittens. You didn't bother to tell her they had been exposed to panleukopenia, risking the life of the other cats in her family. Unfortunately, you didn't want to pay to have treated either. One cat was euthanized at the Emergency Vet because you refused to pay for treatment, which broke my daughter's heart. She has since adopted the other cat and has had this cat treated by our vet. At this time this cat is thriving and still in quarantine at home. You actually charged her to adopt this kitten that she has paid to have treated. That is ridiculous. You want the glory when you are featured on TV. Why don't you tell the news the real story.

Hello,I would like to say, my fiancé and I unfortunately had to return the sweetest baby boy, known as Santiago, due to my allergies. If anybody sees this review, and is looking for a big, loving, sweet dog, Santiago is in need of a good forever home. He is beautiful, cuddly, and so amazing. It devastated me to have to bring him back. I hope that by posting this review, somebody’s heart is touched and somebody goes in to adopt this baby boy. He is amazing, and anybody would be blessed to have him.Thank you, Kanawha Humane Society, for saving lives and making these animals find forever homes.I hope Santiago finds a forever home soon, and if review helps Santiago at all, I’d write a thousand more. He’s truly amazing.

Completed an online application for a particular kitten, wrote in the comments we would be there the next day to adopt her, even called prior to leaving the house, but when we arrived we were told she had just been adopted.

They were super accommodating and gave as much information about the pictured puppy. Reece Cup might still need a home. Unfortunately, I was unable to adopt him, but he's an amazingly sweet and good boy.

My girlfriend and I recently adopted Jonas. He's the biggest baby ever. We say he's not a dog he a person cuz he's got so much character. Mel was amazing. She was the best help we could have asked for. She most definitely made the experience better. Jonas is also a copper now and he is rather photogenic.I
