A family place with a long history locally and I remember going there as child with my grandfather during 1980s. I recently moved back to the area and today I needed some supplies to finish up a renovation project at my home and my child and I drive down to Pyles to pick up the supplies. While we were standing in line surrounded by other customers a very unkept associate made references of drug making loudly at me I guess in an effort to try and embarrass me with my kid present and also the owner/boss, multiple coworkers and other customers. A couple of them told me they found the experience very wrong and unjustified. I can promise you after today if my child decides to stay in the area he won’t frequent this business like the last 3 generations of our family have. I love supporting businesses who’ve been here for decades and I have fond memories of, I have no issue spending a few extra dollars to “keep it local” but today I was disrespected to a level I’ve never experienced anywhere. And I’m sure it’s a memory my son will remember for a long time. Wish you the best but this kind of thing reflects badly on your business and I’m not one to take things public if I have an issue but today I was embarrassed with a handful of folks around including my 8 year old son. Possibly your associate can better explain how to make the drugs he was mentioning to my son than I can personally? I’ll drop by for a consultation whenever he has some free time to better explain everything to my son so he can have clarity.

I used to go here with my dad as I grew up since the sixties. Now I go to get the parts and info as I make repairs my father taught me how to do. Highest quality hardware store! Always good experience here. employees always friendly and have a answer to everyone of my questions. Just wish they were open in the evening. If you have a 9 to 5 job your going to have to go on your lunch break or take a day off. It’s a shame that I have go all the way to south ridge to Lowe’s or Home Depot. They would get 100% of my business rather than 10% if they were open past 5pm and I guarantee about 80% of the Charleston and not just the west side would agree and plus you’d think the would like making more money.

I am a former small business owner and understand how the action of one unprofessional employee can affect a customer’s experience. I will continue to shop at Pile Hardware whenever I have a chance. A little higher priced than the warehouse stores but the ladies always get my paint color right and are happy to help with other stuff if needed. Most of the guys are pleasant enough. Sometimes you gotta pay extra for personal service and that's ok.Still a Piles regular customer. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Quick easy super helpful what a hardware store should be. There's even equipment repair here! But only negative is that things may be pennies on the dollar more then average price if you're a penny pincher. This place is well worth it for the efficiency and time it will take to get in and get out and on with the job! I'm impressed you will be too!

We shop here all the time. There's rarely anything you can't find. The customer service is amazing. It's family owned. Very friendly. Would recommend this store as your first stop before going to Lowe's or Home Depot. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Superb service and knowledge of their products. If you are unsure of what you'll need for your project, just ask an employee and they will explain what you'll need and take you right to the item. My stops here are always quick and easy. They also offer service for small equipment such as mowers and do a great job. I recommend this store to anyone!

Full service hardware and paint store with lots of helpful staff. We needed a preservative for 3 exterior carved doors. They had it! It was made by Rust Oleum. We had gone to one of the big warehouse stores first. Two people in paint couldnt help us there. Called here and came right over. They knew what we wanted and had exactly what we needed. Priced right, too. Skip the box stores. Come here for that old-time customer service.

I went in to see about their auto key cutting services, and the employee who I was referred to that is trained on their cutting equipment was visibly upset before I was even brought to him. No surprise, he was incredibly rude to the point that he was coming off as hostile.I'm sure the rest of their staff is perfectly helpful and I definitely would have liked to support a local business during these tough times, but you are better off going anywhere else for key making/copying services. Battery Plus Bulbs in Cross Lanes was able to help at a reasonable price without the ridiculous attitude.

Great for the hard to find hardware items and small engine parts. One of the best hardware stores in the area, still run by members of the family. Excellent service as well. I've heard many people proclaim they were expensive, however I generally find them cheaper then the big box stores.
