Long post, but know that it is made with the best intentions. I want to save someone else baby from suffering like ours did.My parents and myself have always used Cacapon Veterinary Medicine (in Capon Bridge) for the last 20 years. Through numerous animals including cows we were supporters of his practice. Last week my Sally became very I’ll for no reason. After 2 visits to the vets office and numerous tests my parents were told they could find nothing wrong she need antibiotics and a bland diet. They were charged nearly a thousand dollars for these tests and their medical knowledge. My parents felt as though they were not being heard and decided to look for a new vet after the second visit and being told she was ok and dismissed. They found a new vet they couldn’t take a new patient until the following week.Friday morning our baby was in so much pain her stomach was convulsing so much she was unable to walk. They reached out to a new vet who they had that appointment scheduled with and they were kind enough to squeeze our girl within and the first hour they could tell she had Leukemia, and it was pretty advanced. A bland diet and antibiotics were not going to save her. She had been in excruciating pain for who knows how long. We put our poor baby to sleep this afternoon and it should have been done way sooner, she shouldn’t have to have suffered. Please please please listen to your gut when it comes to these things and keep searching for answers. Our “trusted” vet would have just strung us along and allowed her to be in even more pain.This is Sally and she was so loved. I only wish our vet that we trusted with her life treated her with the compassion she deserved.After posting my story to social media I received word from so many other animal parents that experienced very similar treatment as we had. Please don’t fall into the trap we fell into, be you ranimals advocate and listen to you gut.

I want to thank every staff member for their amazing attitude towards our sick cat Olaf. They did more in half the time and half the cost as a unnamed vet hospital. They genuinely cared what was wrong with him and worked tirelessly despite or in addition to caring for several other animals at the same time. 24 hours later and he is improving by the hour. Thank you all so much.

We've been taking our crew to Dr. Spade for about 5 years now. Pretty sure they see us every month and definitely know all of us well. Riley struggled with a lot of allergies but this year it looks like they're under control. Our senior Sasha doctor Spade figured out a medication was giving her "episodes". And then there is Stanley...lord help us all. Lol the team here treats all of our dogs with kindness, compassion, and most of all love. I often think they get excited to see the babies and definitely take great care of them. I could never take them to another vet... ever!

The staff and dr are amazing. The team is very knowledgeable and friendly. They were able to work us in and we were never pressured into making a decision. The prices are reasonable. One of the babies is really sick with a growth on her side. The team is working her in for surgery and have been very open. Concerns were discussed and they have been very open with both good and bad outcome possibilities. I recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Spaid consistently works hard to provide excellent veterinary care! We have traveled to his center from Winchester for over 12 years because he and his staff are not only trustworthy and genuine, they also offer top notch medical care. Dr. Spaid truly cares and works hard to care for his furry patients (and their owners!)

Dr Spaid and everyone at the hospital are very caring and loving to the family members you bring in to see them.It can be a puppy just learning about life or a elderly dog in its last days before crossing the Bridge.Either one will receive the greatest care possible and both will be loved as if they were their family.I can not thank them enough for all the love I have received over the years for my fur-family

We have taken our Luci to Dr. Spaid for the past six years. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease by a different vet just after we moved to the area and her care was awful. Fortunately, we found Dr. Spaid and his team! Luci also had to have surgery for bladder stones. She was well cared for and is now on a recommended regimen that has kept her in excellent health...nothing to sneeze about at 15 years old. I would not trust her well being to anyone except Dr. Spaid, Lori, Kayla and Cindy! They are amazing and truly care about their fur baby clients (and the humans, too). :-) Highly recommend them!

If you saw my post from yesterday, I want to apologize. I was having a rough day and took it out on this practice. They have always been wonderful to me and my pets. Last year I had to put one of my dogs down and I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate caring group of people. I would like to Thank Dr. Spaid and his amazing staff. I have spent the last two years taking my dog, Salvati to a vet in Stephens City with no results and finally decided to take a chance with someone else. From the time the appointment was made with Cayla to check out I was very pleased with the professionalism, care and time given to my fur baby! Dr. Spaid listened to my concerns and experiences from the previous office and was generous enough to spend the needed time with Salvati and not rush through his appointment. I was very pleased to see how much better My Salvati felt and looked only after two days!! Thank you again to the entire staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

To say Dr. Spaid and his staff are excellent is an understatement. I am brining my two senior Corgis to them because we live so far away from the vet that has seen them since they were puppies. Although I found out our Wallee has been diagnosed with diabetes, Dr. Spaid and his staff were so understanding and compassionate. It is such a great feeling to see professionals care as much about our pets as we do. I look forward to a long relationship with Capon Veterinary Medical Center.

Great people! My wife and I lived in WV for 20+ years. We were so grateful when we found Dr. Spaid and his staff. They are all very caring and take great care of our little Shih-Tzu. We moved to PA 2 years ago and because we like them all so much we have not got to another vet in PA!

I have been going to this veterinary clinic for years . They have always gone above and beyond with every animal I have brought in . I went through a very tough time when my little pug was hit by a vehicle . When he was finally found , I was able to rush him over immediately, knowing that he was in good hands . He was on the verge of death , but Dr. Spaid took great care and with his expertise , he was able to save my boys life ( just one leg less ;) ) Not only is the doctor fantastic, the staff at this office is very attentive, very caring , and truly genuine .Having a pet is not cheap , and that is something that every pet owner should be aware of before they commit to owning one . This office does not break your bank , but they do go above and beyond to help your babies in every way they can ! I can't say enough good about them ! So , if you ask me , I highly recommend this Veterinary office .

I love this place, was recommended to them by a friend when my dog started having seizures. They are incredibly nice and friendly, great with my dog, knowledgeable and not afraid to admit if they need to look something up. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a vet, wether it be an emergency (like in my case) or just a regular vet. This is the place to go

I have been using Dr. Spaid's practice for about 5 years now. I find Dr. Spaid to be helpful and honest about treatments. I can not say enough about how wonderful his staff is. As far as pricing I have no idea have not search around because I like the vet I have. I can say I have always been told what price will be before hand and the choice has been mine to make.

Updating my review as my opinion has totally changed. Everyone knows I'm an advocate for the area's feral and stray cat community & I would like to see Dr. Spaid become involved in helping our low income community with the "neuter" part of Trap, Neuter, Release. Spaying our own cats is a huge expense, so when it comes to caring for the ever-increasing number of community cats, the cost has been prohibitive.However.A very young couple that lives near us found an orphaned kitten in their under-house insulation. After trying to feed & care for the 3 week old baby, they were overwhelmed &knew we took care of cats. We were very fortunate to have a nursing mama cat with kittens around the same age & she accepted this kitten. Unfortunately he would only scream & was going downhill super fast because he was not nursing or eating our kitten milk. Every time he got quiet we were afraid to check on him in fear that he had died. We decided that if he was still suffering by this afternoon then we would take him to Cacapon Veterinary & pray they'd bill us for whatever happened. I thought for sure he would have to be put to sleep.When we walked in, we were told Dr. Spaid had gone for the day. I was devastated & knew I should have called first. Instead of turning us away with a kitten that was literally slowly & painfully starving to death, the 2 vet techs Laurie & Mary asked us to bring him into the exam room. They immediately got to work listening to his lungs, weighing him, taking his temp & then warming milk to try to feed him. They WERE able to get him to take in some kitten milk & he was already behaving better & looked more alert. This kitten is literally skin & bones & apparently was so starving that he couldn't calm himself to nurse or eat, he was just too frantic. I'll run out of characters before I can really verbalize how much these ladies helped us. Our lives had been turned upside down over worry for this little guy and they just really went above and beyond for us and especially for the little furbaby that had lost his mama & had been alone for so long he was too ravenous to even take in nutrients. I really thought we would either be told he wouldn't make it &need to be put down or we would have to return home to watch him wither away. Instead, he has a real chance at pulling through & it is ENTIRELY because of the compassion, care and knowledge of Laurie & Mary at Cacapon Veterinary Medical Center. I just can't even believe it, and so thankful people like this exist to help our helpless pet population<3

Dr Spaid is the poorest excuse for a veterinarian and HUMAN being that has ever been put on the face of this earth. He does not care about you or your animal and if you love your animal you will NEVER EVER take it to him. He's a hipocrite who claims to be a christan but again runs up your bill for unnessary tests just to put money in his pocket!! He states he lives by GOD'S word, well he must have been taught about a different GOD than I was!! I had to take my animal to another vet who FIXED the issue after Dr spaid gave me a 450.00 bill for doing absolutely nothing except to invite me to his church!! in which he needs to go not me
