We got our baby Henry here and although our time was short with him, he brought such life to our family. Carol does expect you to take the dogs right away if your application gets approved. If you do put in an application, be sure to be ready for adoption right away. She makes it a point to do what is best for every dog she takes in. If she’s brutally honest with you...that is why. Don’t take offense, she is a wonderful person who leads an organization that goes above and beyond for dogs with disabilities, seniors, and other issues. She gives a home to a lot of dogs who need it and for that she strives to make sure they go to a good place. I wouldn’t necessarily trust the negative reviews. With us, she was great. Just be willing to do what is best for the pup and all will be fine!

This shelter takes larger dogs that some shelters will reject. We adopted a wonderful retriever lab mix from this shelter that was originally found in North Carolina beside the road The puppy was well cared for and in good condition. I would strongly recommend them if you are looking for a retriever, a lab, or similar large dog. They deserve our support.

So, I know on the website it says something like “don’t follow GPS; it’s wrong; here’s my directions.”That’s no longer the case, as I personally updated the EXACT location back in October, so your google maps gps should work absolutely fine now and bring you right to the puppers.Did a DNA test on the dog our family got from here back in 2017…..he had ZERO retriever in him. He was predominantly Chow Chow.

I've adopted 4 dogs from Ahgrr and fostered many others. It is a small rescue that takes in many medical cases that other golden rescues turn away. They take Goldens, golden mixes and other breeds as space allows. You cannot go there and shop for dogs . It is not a public shelter. If you are serious about adopting a rescue dog the process is fast and easy.

The dogs are very well cared for.Large fenced in areas for the dogs to run around and play and be dogs.The dogs are crate trained and vetted at the time of adoption.With low adoption fees that are geared to find the dogs the right home.The facility itself is a lottle isolated in the countryside and appointments are on a case by case basis.And the Vets they use are top notch.
