"And It Was Good" kept ringing in my ears after enjoying the Hot Pastrami on rye sandwich!I am now looking forward to my next road trip and a reason to stop for an amazing sandwich!Thank you 😃Part 2I stopped by on my return trip and had the corned beef sandwich on rye with horseradish mustard...this is now a mandatory stop on I-77 trips!Parts 3 and 4Stopped and enjoyed the same sandwiches northbound and southbound. Will be planning future trips around stopping at this deli!"OMG this is so good!" said my wife after her 1st bite. She went from my husband is crazy about talking about how good these sandwiches were for the past week to understanding how good they are and the blissful feeling experienced.Part 5I now plan my trips on I-77 for when the Deli is open!

Really like this place! Great food, it’s fresh, clean and the employees take pride in their job. They slice the meat and cheese specifically for your order. If you’re not sure what to order off the menu you can build your own sandwich! This place has real food that fills you up quick unlike all this frozen and fried fast food plus the leftovers are just as good. Will be back soon to try the pepperoni rolls :)

This place is a hidden gem just off the interstate. I will make this a new pit-stop every chance I get now. I wish I could remember the name of the awesome gentleman ( I believe he was part of ownership) that took our order and talked to us because he made my experience even better! I ordered the Merchants Philly and it was delicious. I will take this over Jersey Mikes any day. I’ve included a couple photos, one of my food and one of the nice gentleman that treated us so well! This place is the real deal! Located right off the I77 Harper’s Rd exit in Beckley. Fresh fresh fresh sliced meat, cheese, toppings, bread…. Wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches made fresh! There’s that word again! Owner is very passionate and personable. Just what we needed to refuel on our trip from Ohio to North Carolina. We’ll be back!

Came in for the first time today, after hearing nothing but praise for this place. Ordered a BLT to play it safe. This is the best sandwich I've had in a very long time. The bacon had a delicious smoky taste that was the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, the Lettuce and tomato were both incredibly fresh, and the bread held it all together perfectly while tasting great. So glad this was recommend, I'll definitely be coming in for lunch as frequently as I can.

This place is great. Really needed in the beckley area. Got the Cuban and my buddy got the burger, amazing all around. Got the chance to talk to the owner and his son for a while and they are the most wholesome and passionate people. Love seeing this type of drive with southern WV business owners. Will definitely be coming back and supporting this place.

I have a coworker tell me about merchants Deli in Beckley, he had told me I had to try there sandwiches, at first I didn’t go until my coworker came back with a sandwich in hand and told me he has a gift for me, seeing and smelling the food he had I was hoping it was a sandwich, as he was eating it he handed me there menu and said here I was thinking about you. Well after that day I go into get a sandwich from them at least three times a week, would highly recommend to others to try their food. The staff and I now know each other on a first name basis and they are really friendly and love to see new and returning customers to there family and friend owned restaurant. Today’s sandwich is chicken, bacon, ranch with red onions and banana peppers Absolutely delicious.

Another serendipitous stop! We exited I-77 at Harper's Road in Beckley, WV for a quick breakfast en route south from Charleston to Kitty Hawk, NC. We'd seen the McDonald's sign and had resigned ourselves to eat there but I turned too soon at the busy intersection and there wasn't a back entrance. I made a quick left turn into the GoMart gas station and saw that there was a deli inside. We decided to see if they offered breakfast. It was around 9:45 AM.The girl working the counter was very nice and said that they didn't have a breakfast menu but suggested that we have a BLT and she could put an egg and cheese on it. That sounded good and I asked for whole wheat bread.While we waited, we wandered through the shop looking at the hot sauces and various jerky varieties being sold. An extremely nice gentleman came out from the kitchen and asked if the girl working the counter had told us that they didn't open until 10:00AM. I said she hadn't but that was OK, we could either wait or go elsewhere but the man said that he just wanted us to know that it would be a few minutes because the grill had to heat.It was maybe ten minutes before our sandwiches were delivered to our table and they have to have been the best BLT sandwiches we've had anywhere. Everything was fresh and so good.Merchants Deli Market is a great find run and staffed by super nice people. I'm glad I made the wrong turn into the right parking lot!

Delicious fresh sliced deli sandwiches. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Only takes a few minutes and you'll have a stacked sandwich that doesn't require a search party to find the meat and cheese... (cough cough subway). I had a honey ham while my wife had a roasted chicken. Both were very tasty.

Only true Deli in town well worth wait and money. They are not shy with the meats produce was super fresh amazing bread and cheese just melts in your mouth. They will make it however you want it. Come by and support a local buisness.

I was a little dubious when I pulled up and saw this was inside a gas station but I was not disappointed. They serve high quality cold cuts and sandwiches on good bread. Cold cuts are Thuman's brand. The service was very friendly, they walked us through the menu and made sure we didn't miss the bread options. The store was spotless and the tables were clean.

First ever visit and it did not disappoint! Had myself a SmokeMaster Turkey sandwich with their deli swirl bread and it was AMAZING! The server took really good care of me and my girls when explaining the different bread, meat, and cheese choices. Overall a great experience! Check them out for great sandwiches and deli meats.

Locally owned and operated, what might just appear on the outside as another restaurant attached to a gas station is actually one of the best sandwich joints I have ever been to. My gf and I got the Philly cheesesteaks and holy moly they were out of this world. 1/3lb beef, a delicious melted white cheddar cheese sauce, and a delightful medley of peppers and onions. I highly, highly recommend stopping here whether you’re local or just passing through!

Merchants Deli is definitely an excellent choice when it comes to food for the soul. I had a bologna sandwich that took me down memory lane. I hadn’t eaten a bologna sandwich since I was a kid. I have a burn mark from my last attempt at making one. The flavor of that sandwich felt spiritual. My lady really enjoyed the food too. She looks forward to getting more of their meat in her mouth. The owner was extremely kind and passionate about his business. There was a brief moment where I felt like he was the father I never had. Tears welled up in my eyes but I fought back the emotions by complimenting him on his Cool Mariners hat. His feet were adorned with a cool pair of retro Jordans that was visually pleasing too. The ambiance was peaceful and felt like all the chaos in the world was going to be over with each bite of that delicious nutritious sandwich. I strongly recommend this place for your next meal. If you truly love your family then put this place as a high priority on your to do list.

Excellent subs,( I usually don't like them) My husband had fried bologna sub and I had chicken philly. It doesn' get any better. Its in west virgina 77 north exit 44. We also got pepporoni rolls, I make some at home, that every one loves, but these wereso much better and reasonable, and freezable . We emptied the case!2004 Harper Road right off the highway!

While in way home to Chicago a group of us Mary Kay ladies stoped for gas and restroom break and we saw the martlet and BJ helped us by explaining how the sandwiches are made. BJ was very patient and kind. The sandwich’s were each outstanding and were hands down the best I have had in a very long time. Stop in and take a break you won’t regret it!Parking: Gas station parking is right outside!

It's true what the hype is on this place. Stopped in for gas and met the owner and his son. Since I'm in the culinary space. I tried several different sandwiches. All were amazing .
