We visited on a Sunday night and had no trouble getting a table. Our waitress was extremely friendly and guided us through different menu options and her recommendations. The food was also delicious along with an amazing view! The view alone is worth the visit, but our party thoroughly enjoyed the hush puppies and all of our meals. We highly recommend everyone stop by this hidden gem and we hope to revisit!

Great service, fair prices, friendly staff, good food and awesome views of the gorge. If you are staying at the lodge you get free hot breakfast including eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruits orange juice and the coffee was great. What a great way to start your day. The views fro the restaurant are nothing short of spectacular. Get a seat by the window. I highly recommend.

The view of the gorge out the windows was beautiful!! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was fast and delicious. I expected the pulled pork to be on a bun, but it didn't say sandwich, so that was my misunderstanding. It was still delicious. Our family had pulled pork, meatloaf, country fried pork tenderloin, and fettuccine alfredo. Everyone (even the kids) cleaned their plates.

Stopped at Hawk's Nest State Park recently and, for the first time, went to the Lodge. We decided to grab a bite at the Overlook restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the food. The portions were good, the food was tasty and there was a good selection on the menu. The view was obviously superb during our meal and staff were fast, helpful and very nice. If you're visiting Hawk's Nest and have time for a bite, I'd definitely recommend it.

For our appetizer, we chose the Cheese Curds, which were very delicious. I wasn't impressed at all with the ribeye steak entree. My steak had gristle & fat on almost half of it. I asked for medium well & it was still bloody. The baked potato was the best thing on my plate. I don't think the price of $22 is worth paying just to eat a baked potato. The view from our table was beautiful. The music they chose was pretty loud & it didn't fit the moment.

Great views of the mountains and river while eating here. The breakfast is good (and free for guests of the lodge). Had the chef salad for dinner and it was also good and way more food than one can eat.

We came for a 7 pm dinner on Saturday May 11 after several of hours hiking in the New River Gorge National Park area. We did not stay in the lodge. The restaurant is within the Hawks Nest State Park Lodge. We were greeted by a breathtaking view overlooking the New River. We were seated immediately at a window-side table. There were 4 other parties dining. Two servers were caring for the guests. Our beverages came out quickly. A few bottled beers available, nothing on tap. Our server was attentive and knew the menu, and what was currently available from the kitchen. We ordered the Ribeye Steak entree and Angus Cheeseburger with fries. The side salad was crisped, cold, and simple. It took over 35 minutes to be served. The steak came out medium-rare as ordered. Seasoned well, but the beef itself lacked flavor and was not fork tender. The burger was good at medium, the fries good but not piping hot. There was a very relaxed, calm atmosphere here. Prices were average, and the view spectacular. The food was good but lacked special pizazz and fanfare. On this visit, credit cards were not accepted. Cash or charged to the room only. When in the area for the first time, we recommend this experience for a special view. For those returning here, I recommend exploring other restaurants near the Gorge.TRAVEL TIP - Phone directly ahead of time to confirm the hours of operation. With weather and Covid so unpredictable many of the places in the area close temporarily without much notice. Very friendly and attentive staff here.

This is a gem of a place! The food was great and the setting was superb! We went at the evening and found the sunsetting over the gorge, along with the birds flying their circles, was near magical.Between being greeted and all of our questions being answered at the front desk (Samantha was the best) and the great dinner service (shout out to Olivia), everything was as near perfect as an experience can be.

My fish sandwich had a visible coating of grease. Could have drained just a bit more after coming out of the deep fryer. Was tasty, though. Seemed to take a long time to get the food, especially since we were the only ones there when we ordered. My wife said the chicken salad was good. Prices were very reasonable and you can't beat the view. We will be back.Parking: Ample parking but a good walk to get to the lodge.

Our server, Emily, only visited our table to take our order and bring our food. Had empty glasses for quite awhile. Never got our dinner rolls that we had to ask for but were suppose to be included with our meal. We were finished for quite awhile before we finally got our bill to pay.Our food was good though.

The view is incredible and the staff was very friendly. We loved looking at the Gorge, the river, and the bridge as we dined. The employees were very nice and helpful, but the food was pretty rough. The cheese steak sandwich was overcooked and dry, but nothing ketchup couldn't fix. My partner ordered the fettuccine and it wasn't edible: it was about 20 noodles swimming in a deep pool of what looked like 3 sticks of melted butter, no exaggeration. She let the noodles drip-dry on our fork for a bit between bites, but it was still too buttery to finish. We did enjoy the salad and the dressing was delicious. Also, we appreciated the eco-friendly sauce cups and straws.
