I decided to review 2 years after having my fur baby. I got Thor aka Kash as my emotional support animal. When I rescued him from YKS he way 10-11 weeks old. They had already had fixed and ready to go. Took him directly to the vet they confirmed that fixing him that young was wrong and that he had worms. Although my fur baby is doing amazing. I think the humane should look into not fixing them so young. Now to why I reviewed 2 years later. I am a social media influencer, over those 2 years I have added YHS to all of my social media accounts and since adding them I noticed adoption photos… a lot of them!! I also noticed their are NO people of color in these photos.. which brings me back to my view. I was never even offered the opportunity to take an adoption photo with my pup and for that reason I will never adopt from yhs again. You may think it’s over the top , but if you do for 1 you got to do for all no matter the color of the person’s skin.. please do better as an organization or atleast hire better!

My cat was taken from my property and brought to the Yakima Humane Society. I came in to pick her up and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They not only helped me get my cat back but also update her vaccinations and get her microchipped. I adopted this cat 18 years ago from the Yakima Humane Society and she is still as healthy as ever. I greatly appreciate their help in getting my cat back and taking great care of her until I could pick her up!

Recently had some good friends.Had their cat taken there To be spaded. When they got her back. She had hair missing round her eyes and scabs. And her incision wound was infected The very next day. Would not Recommend them four spading or neutering your cat at all.

These folks do a thankless job daily and do a good job helping the unwanted animals our society casts aside. They deserve all the support we can give them. If you feel you want a dog or cat please adopt from the Yakima Humane Society shelter.

I went with my dad and sister to hangout with some dogs and the workers were always so nice and kind. The dogs were nice too, I met 2 huskies mixed with something i think a golden retriever, they were so cute i wanted to take them home. I was sad when i had to leave. Definitely going to visit more and maybe help around if i am able to. ❤️❤️

Went to do some volunteer dog walking. Spent about an hour walking giant floofs. The staff were super friendly and so were Kane and Fluffy.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly! We got our dog from here. We totally lucked out, she is the sweetest girl! You know its a good place when there is a constant flow of volunteers to sit with the animals or take them for walks. You can really tell that the people who work and volunteer here care!

(6 April 2022 - 5 Stars)Our rescue dog (Ref) turns 1-year old next week. He has been a wonderful addition to our family. We feel so lucky to have him.Found out today that the county has turned over Dog Licensing to the Yakima Humane Society. Since Ref is turning one next week, we got his license today. The process was fast and easy.

I adopted Lorana on Halloween from here and it was such a great experience! We drove all the way from Portland to get her and it was worth the drive. I went to shelters where I live and had bad experiences but the staff here were wonderful and the adoption process was not complicated! Thank you to the whole staff, they were all friendly and knowledgeable!! (Lorana is doing great with her potty training and everything else so far) :)

Really great team of people dedicated to helping animals like this one.Update: since adopting my own kitten from yakima humane, I've had the opportunity to rescue several kittens from rough places and take them in. Yakima humane society was always able to welcome the kittens quickly and get them cared for and adopted back out just as fast. They all have great new homes, and we really appreciate having this resource in town. Here's a new picture of the rescue I adopted last year. She still loves to play and is the happiest cat I know!!

Dog we got didn't work out - it happens, also believe they didn't tell us everything they knew about the dog. Regardless, we were supposed to get a refund, it's even in the contract, but when we took the dog back less than a week later they said they would mail the refund to us, 2 weeks later nothing. Talked to them several times since and they just keep putting us off, 3 months later and still no refund. Either they have no idea how to accomplish simple tasks, don't care, or are just a bunch of crooks! Beware they're sketchy!

Gus came with us 2 days ago and has been such a very good boy.he doesn't like showers, you can't leave him alone for 5 minutes or he'll start crying but thats probably because he'll know ill come if he starts crying, and when he gets the zoomies he likes to bite your face but he now has a special place in out family. The staff were really nice and actually care for the adorable baby's they have there.

Clean, friendly. We should all support our local humane society. Do your part and adopt. If you can’t adopt, please consider donating.I’ve adopted three times from here, and will again in the future.

Yakima humane society is a joke. Have been there twice to see the cat's but can't see any animals unless you make an appointment. Since Covid they have become lazy and complacent. They now say that it's too upsetting for the animals. Of course there are people and unsupervised kids who intentionally antagonize the animals and those people should be kicked out. However, the rest of us aren't like that and I think the animals need more attention than the staff can provide. It makes their day. Most the staff is rude. Used to be a great place. Also, the place is dirty and smells to high heaven. I guess staff is too busy "not dealing with the public" to clean. I wonder what the animals pens look like.will never know.

Found a dog on my way home from work. Took him to the Yakima Humane Society to get it scanned for a chip. They called the owners and I was told to hand over the dog. Thankfully it had an owner. They said if It didn't have a chip I wouldn't be able to leave the dog with them. It's understandable they were probably full.

Sessaly was rather rude to me and my girlfriend. We went in to go check out brown a german shepherd. We can’t adopt him now but we are moving soon so we can adopt him. We were told he was not comfortable bringing him out unless we would adopt. Followed by him telling us “I won’t bring him out unless you adopt” everyone I talked to says this has never been a standard of the humane society

On March 9th, 2023 I took my cat, Dolly, in to get spayed, which they did. The next day, March 10th, 2023...her incision opened and her guts started spilling out so I rushed her to a veterinarian and they had to put her down. When it comes to taking care of your pets, don't cut corners...take them to a real vet. It's well worth the extra couple hundred dollars.R.I.P. Dolly

I came in about 1:30 on Thursday April 6th and was told to leave without any explanation with my partner I walked in with. I was looking for resources to benefit my dog that the city provides. My partner and I where caught off guard and where discriminated against as I am a black male and my partner a Latin woman I was very disappointed about my visit I have been here before and never had this experience before. It was rude and disrespectful in front of other customers before we entered the room.

They were very friendly and extremely helpful. We got a beautiful little lady to add to our happy and loving family. We are very happy to get our new dog even if we had to drive over 100 miles each way to get her.
