My husband and I had wandered in an hour before closing to pick up supplies in the hopes of getting a cat in the near future. Of course immediately upon walking in we saw a pair of bonded kittens that needed a home!George met with us and helped us through the adoption application process so that the next day we could come back and adopt (since it was understandably too late to do the whole process that night). We returned the next day and George made sure that the application went through, let us meet the kittens, and then once they were officially adopted helped us carry everything out to the car.He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole adoption process smooth and painless. Thank you so much for helping us adopt these kittens!

Dead fish in tank that looked like it had been there for at least a day or two. Tanks with snails were littered with dead snails and hollow shells (it takes at least a day or two for the shells to hollow out like that.) Dead snails are incredibly dangerous for tanks because of the amount of ammonia they release, and can be known to nuke entire tanks or snail populations if left to decompose. Anyone who’s kept snails and smelled one after they died would know what I mean. Young axolotl was missing its right arm. These tanks are clearly barely even looked at let alone maintained. Disappointing because I had previously praised the care this store had for their aquatic animals.

I enjoy going to Petco very much the staff has been super friendly. I've gotten several of my bettas there. They have all been healthy with such a beautiful colors thank you for doing a great job Petco.

Dear friends I am going to tell one of life’s great secrets. You have to absolutely promise not to tell anyone about it. So, you know those beautiful Koi you see lazily drifting in serene Japanese ponds that cost hundreds of dollars and sometimes more and those tiny feeder fish from Petco that cost .25-.45?Look, I swear you to secrecy, but they are for the most part, the same damn fish. Ya see, when big beautiful Koi have babies (ok, eggs) they are tiny, and they have a whole lot of them. And if the Icthiofarmer folk were to raise them all up, there would be too many and they couldn’t sell them for hundreds of dollars anymore, so what do they do?They sell the babies to pet stores to feed other bigger fish. So what happens is people like me go to those stores and ask the poor employees to pick out the pretty feeder fish so we can take them home with us where they can grow up to be big and strong!And That brings me to Petco where the poor overworked employees cheerfully take time out of their busy probably underpaid jobs to help me rescue these desperate little doomed morsels so that they can come home with me and live in my fish pond.Let me say, there is no real money in it for Petco. It’s a pittance and hardly worth the time fishing around in the crowded tanks chasing the exact fish I have my heart set on. I will particularly mention young Corvin, who with nimble wrist and eagle eye netted me 15 winners in short order and with good cheer. And accolades to Petco in general for allowing such falderal in the name of customer service in the first place and with good grace to boot.Not only was the service performed skillfully and with good cheer, but everyone seemed excited and happy the fish were going to a happy home instead going straight be a bigger fish’s happy meal.And of course it’s a Petco. They have just about everything including dog grooming and dog classes.

Store was clean and bright and the staff helped us find a treat for our dog. The puppy trainer, Maddie at the Hazel Dell store is great with our pup and helping us to train our puppy, Jackie. She has helped us a lot.

Pure luck that I went in. Had to pick printer ink next door at Office Max and saw Petco. I need to get my cat her rabies shot. Turned out that there was a vaccination clinic happening that afternoon. They had the cardboard pet carriers that I was able to buy to take her back in later. The clinic was so nice and efficient. I don't know how often they offer the vaccination clinics but it was definitely low cost, $38.55 for a feline rabies shot. They handled her nicely and we're very friendly.

We have a pug that’s been getting groomed here a while, there was a misunderstanding that could have been really negative, but the way it was handled actually made me feel better about coming back again! Sam is the sweetest and she takes great care of our senior pug. ❤️

If you feed your kids McDonald’s 3 times a day then this place is for you and your pets.The products are all sub-par. Like petsmart, it’s the Walmart for pets.I bought petco brand treats and my dogs won’t touch them. One of my dogs will eat anything and has an iron gut, but will not touch petco brand food/treats. I do feed them organic food that is high end (not from petco obviously) but I didn’t expect they would spit it out and walk away. I put petco treats on the floor and they walk around them. lolAlso, I bought 4 petco brand toys 3 hours ago. They have already fallen apart and are trash. My dogs did not chew on the toys. It was from just simply throwing the ball and frisbee, when they hit the ground (grass) they fall apart.I don’t understand why the animal activists don’t target these companies. They do more harm to our pets than anyone or anything else.

Underwhelming and overwhelming all in the same visit. So many options it’s hard to choose. Understaffed and lackluster on the dopamine for spending over $100 every visit. I did buy a lizard costume for my teacup dog on sale for $1.99. I Will go back; but only to buy jumbo rats. 😅

The cat groomer did an excellent job with my Persian cat.He had flees surprise to me and she went above and beyond to accommodate him for a later date.

Useless staff. I sat in the store for over an hour trying to buy fish. The store was not busy. I went to the register asking for assistance 3 seperate times. Save yourself the time and find a store with competent employees. What a waste of time.

It is BEYOND ANNOYING that I picked items that showed available at a specific store. I received four error messages as each time I tried to checkout it indicated an item was not available. I made the necessary changes and attempted to checkout. Four different items were flagged, one item per attempt to checkout! Finally on the fifth attempt my order was finally processed. The system should indicate ALL UNAVAILABLE ITEMs IN ONE MESSAGE!

My children and I came in to buy fish and aquatic plants for the 70 gallin tank we have at home. My boys spent a lot of time picking fish.Everything was great until one of their other employees came and interrupted and told the nice young gal helping us, none of this was going to work.I wanted plants and fish, and the guy just argued with me telling me I need a heater and and I can't have this fish because it will destroy the plants. I finally just said fine, sell me a heater and the plants and the fish. He said no, your water won't be warm you have to wait at least a week.I told him we were almost done building a pond, so we wanted a variety of plants and fish for inside and out.I've never been to a place trying to spend more money(bought a 70 gallon tank, accessories a giant stand, and plenty of other things) on top of the thousand I've spent already to just be shut down and told no, that won't work.This started out as the best experience we've had here so far, as almost every other time we have spent money here has been not pleasant, and then it all went bad.I understand trying to educate customers on things, but this was just too much. We came with the intention of spending a couple hundred dollars, and left everything we'd picked in a cart and left.Maddy you were great! Sorry you spent all that time collecting fish for no reason.

I have come to this store regularly to shop and often bring my dogs along. A friend and I both brought our dogs in and we were shopping and chatting and asking our dogs to behave and be attentive. Unfortunately the store didn’t have what I needed. We both had our dogs on leash and were stopped in an isle talking with dogs lying on the floor settled. We were approached by an employee who told us there was no “training” of dogs in the store and we had to leave. It wasn’t like we were trying to “steal” clientele from them, we were shopping and had our well behaved dogs with us who were acting appropriately. We had flat collars and leashes on, so it wasn’t like we had harsh equipment on or we were being harsh on our dogs. It was rude and completely uncalled for to be asked to leave. I will not be shopping at any petco store again since they don’t appreciate a well behaved dog or my money.

Came in with my puppy for the first time. Was greeted warmly and puppy was quickly pet and welcomed. Enjoyed our walk around the store and had a great experience with a friendly employee. Had a return and no receipt and easily handled.

My boyfriend is the one that buys products / fish from Petco and good quality as far as I can tell, but the main reason I'm giving five stars is because of the older gentleman named George. He is always so nice when we ask him questions or need assistance, and he just makes me smile every time when I'm leaving. I hope management sees this and gives George some recognition. Thank you George for being you! 😁

Great deals on dog food and clearance dog toys. Friendly staff. Great grooming department. Morgan did a great job with my pups nails! Even though he hates trims. Hopefully she will agree to continue being his mani/pedicurist😁

I went to buy some pond snails but unfortunately there was only aquarium ones.... I decided to buy 4 more goldfish for my pond... The lady that helped me was very polite and helpful... She answered my questions... I also having never seen dog ice pops before had to buy some for my three puppers.... A very positive experience

Got told off by a snotty employee for taking a picture of a hamster. I can appreciate when a store has a policy, but rudely shouting “no photos!” from several aisles away isn’t the way to enforce it.The store is also cluttered, many out of stock items, mainly empty live animal displays, and the veterinarian office appears to have been turned into a hasty storage area.Avoid. The Petsmart nearby is much better.

PetCo automatically cancelled my pickup order as I was driving to pick it up. Seems the hour it takes to prepare the order isnt factored into the time held. Since I did not have any way to pay at that moment I asked to speak with the manage to see if there was any way I could still get the cat litter and to void the cancel status since it was less than 20 minutes old. This is all 100% my fault so I give 2 stars instead of 1. the poor rating comes because both the associate and the manager were rude as hell with 0 sympathy. I was wasnt rude, used polite vocabulary, and sincerely did not mind if I got a no. I literally apologized to both up front and let them know I was just hoping they might be able to because it was my only option at the moment so it couldnt hurt to ask. What i recieved was being told, "I already had X amount of time" and told that, "no other stores would even do that much and that, "the items were not mine and that was that".This was on 8/7 around 4:30pm and both associates were female. I wont name names but I also wont recommend this store or shop here ever again.Edit to add: Honestly it was the giving me amount of time comment that got me the most. Like somehow storing cat litter in a store that sells cat litter is somehow a favor to me. I have a disability that affects my memory and I forgot while doing errands a couple times. These people dont have any idea what others are going through and what its like to not remember what you need to do day in and day out. I was treated like a child and it was extremely embarrassing. especially in contrast to the flexibility i felt towards the situation going in. Literally the first time I have ever asked for a manager in my life. Definitely not feeling like polite is the way to go. maybe there is something to the karen method.
