The park host is helpful and always available. When we had issues with our trailer, he provided assistance and was thoughtful. The entire staff is excellent and the grounds are well maintained. The hiking trail, that runs along the river, is well maintained with gorgeous scenic views of the Colombia River through the trees. Beach access is available in several places.

We were driving through and had to stay unexpectedly in Skamowkawa. An employee at the Chathlamet Mini Mart told us about this resort just 10 minutes away. It was really easy to find, right on the water, and a very comfortable stay! The employee in the store checking us in was really nice and helpful and we wish there was a better way to tell him thank you for his help besides a great review! If you’re ever on your way through the area stop in the the Skamowkawa Resort!

Though pretty remote, the accommodations were very comfortable. A very picturesque, quaint town on the Columbia River. Was there for a Road Scholar kayak adventure. Our guides from Columbia River Kayaking were phenomenal, and the food from Duck Inn was excellent. Even the schoolhouse Museum across the street was very well designed and curated. Highly recommend the resort and would definitely stay there again.

This is a very rustic place. Upon arrival the gal that ran the store was indifferent to our arrival and was not very helpful at all. We wanted to BBQ and she was not keen on letting us use it. After we looked at it we didn't want to use it anyway..... The mattresses are wrapped in plastic, not sure if that is for their protection or ours?? The beds are very noisy and not miserable but less than comfortable. It is very peaceful there for the most part, however after the family left I spent one night there alone and some man was banging on my door somewhere between 1 and 2 am. That was scary so then I could not sleep the rest of the night. Our stove was broken so we tried to report it to the gal at the store, she did not say a word.. just wrote some notes.. did not say thank you, drop dead, we will get to it.... nothing.. and nobody came to look at it.. We were able to use some burners but waited over 2 hours for the lasagna to heat up in the oven.. The best part of all is the abundance of nature, we saw deer, otters or beavers not sure which, beautiful birds etc... It is a very quiet peaceful place with not much to do which is EXACTLY what we had in mind. The family had a blast but I really don't see us going back. We had little ones with us and the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep. In general we were not made to feel welcome. I left on Monday and the guy at the store was a million times better than his sister. He actually spoke in complete sentences and showed some enthusiasm.

I would have given it a 4 star but for the fact that all rooms do not yet have air-conditioning. I also don't think it has enough amenities to quality as a true resort. Don't get me wrong, it is very comfortable, nicely located, and the staff is excellent.

Beautiful place to stay with amazing views! Perfect for a quiet get away. Short drive to Long Beach, amazing hiking and fishing close by or just sit on the deck with a cup of coffee and enjoy the tranquility!

Drove all day, and ventured across this little town on the Columbia River about the time we were ready to quit driving and call it a night. The two other resort options in this town led to 1) no availability and 2) a per night rate about 70 dollars higher than this one. But we were afraid we would not be able to get a room here.The "office" was closed when we arrived, but we stopped next door at the Duck Inn and our server called the owner, who came back to the office to rent us a room. The rate was affordable- 89$/night for one of the balcony rooms.Room was small, but was clean and had working bathroom, shower, sink, DirecTV and Wi-Fi, so it was all we needed. The view is beautiful and the little gazebo is a nice touch at sunset to watch the birds, barges and boats go by.Glad we stopped here!
