Stopped in for some lunch on a recent weekday. We had checked out the place previously and the food looked good. I had the prime dip sandwich and it was perfect. Tender prime on a homemade bun with delicious au jus that tasted like it came directly from the prime drippings. It was yummy. Wife had the chowder and we give it a mixed review. It was hardy and full of clams and veggies but seemed to lack chowder taste. I liked, wife not so much. We bought a blueberry muffin, lemon bar and a brownie. All were very good. Kathy was our host and prepped our order and she was friendly and professional. We enjoyed our lunch on the porch of the store and took in the view. Check Union Country Store out but they do get busy at times.

Espresso, Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, bagged ice. Prepared foods: lasagnas, prime rib, bbq pork ribs, prime rib french dip sandwich house baked French with horseradish suave and aus jus... fresh baked french bread baguettes, brownies, lemon bars... , cheeses, crackers and chips, some produce and fruit, various sundries and gift items for travelers and boaters. Good selections of wines, beers, ciders and other drinks. Their service and offerings have expanded and improved much over the recent past. Excellent choice breakfast, lunch or dinner for counter service or take-out! They now have booth seating inside in addition to the window bar seating. Outside has several areas to sit, relax, eat and take in the views.Review update 2018: many of the recent menu items and cooked to order breakfasts have gone as well as some key staffing that made it happen. Sorry to see the shift back.12/2018: I drove by the other day and the store was boarded up and is closed for the season.5/2019 Open again for summer season.

Waiting years to try the food! Thoroughly disappointed! I was asked whether I wanted my ribs and chowder heated up or not! 4 of us and we were each served separately. Paid $15 for unseasoned ribs, $10 for gritty chowder! My friend ordered the BLAST! Bread was hard as rock! Infact, he feels accomplished for eating his 1st rock sandwich. His wife ordered Quice, and it was so far from Quice, that even the chicken that laid the egg, is questioning whether it laid. Needless to say not satisfied. On a good note, my wife kinda appreciated her prime rib dip! Although, she would have appreciated fries with her $19 sandwich.

Best clam chowder so far on our trip to Olympic NP area. Worth the drive from Hoodsport. Better than we found in Port Angeles. Better than what I tasted in Coos Bay,OR.

Awesome little deli and store. Some of the best clam chowder I have ever had. Thick and rich! Great customer service as well. I'll be making a special trip back to visit for sure!

Union country store has the best sandwiches and ice cream. We just had the prime rib sandwich, so, so good. Perfect. Great au jus, bread and lots of meat! Also had the pistachio ice cream! The owner Kirk, nice guy, really friendly! I enjoy coming here where in the canal!

So this place looks like your average country store. They've got some canned goods and such that look like they've been there a while.Then, you walk up to the counter and see what the special is. This day, it was prime rib. Boy, was it good! The bourbon ice cream was amazing, too. The time before this, I had lasagne. It was quite good, too.If you're having crab or shrimp, drop by for some cocktail sauce, they have the best ever! Warning: it's got a kick, and it will make you dance! If you don't like really zesty cocktail sauce, skip it. I love it, though!

Absolutely love Union Country Store! Staff are always friendly and the food is great, especially the potato salad! Also the smoked salmon dip is delicious! I like that they carry food items that are local. Pretty decent selection of wine too.

Nice little spot, food is okay. I had the ribs for $13. The quiche looks really good. They also have a good selection of ice cream. great wine and beer selection. Idample their homemade crab dip too.... that hets 5 stars!

Doesn't look like a place where you can get food, but you can! They had giant, fresh baked blueberry muffins and the breakfast sandwich was delicious and only $5. Will definitely come here for breakfast again instead of eating at Alderbrook

Best burger in Union so far! We moved here about 7 or 8 months ago, we tried it for the first time and loved it. Fresh ingredients and soft delicious bread with a juicy burger. If you are just visiting, stop here. It will be worth it.

TERRIBLE! Overall experience was bad, the people that served the ice cream were snarky. a kind gentlemen just simply asked if some spoons were clean and one of the young employees that work there said that they swished the spoons around in the toilet, Which I hope is not true. For six scoops of ice cream they charged $50 which is outrageous for the size of the scoops. The next day we went to hunters farms which sells the same ice cream brand and is not far from there. We got scoops for almost 1/3 of the price and the staff were probably 80x more friendly at hunters. We also got some barbecue pork ribs the size of my hand that were $14 dollars each, that number is very very over priced. The ribs were cold lumps of sad pork that had barely any sauce. When my 13 year old son went to pay for all of the over priced items and what I presume is the owner almost left with the credit card. Over all experience was bad and I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN

This is one of my family's favorite places to get ice cream in all of Washington state! We first came in 2007 and have returned at least once every year since. The owner is extremely friendly and great at remembering faces (perhaps a skill left over from his camp counselor days). We usually come for the ice cream, but all the food we've tried here tastes delicious. It definitely has that "small town" vibe and all the food is clearly handmade- down to the lemon bars baked in the same glass casserole dish you probably have at home. The store also offers a decent selection of general store goods and a movie rental section. Now that he's open year-round, there's a small indoor eating area, as well as a covered porch and outdoor patio seating just to the right up closer to the historic McCleary house. We usually sit up in the patio so our dog can join. This place is well worth going out of your way for!

Me and my family always stop here on our drive back from Lake Cushman! (check it out, its amazing) The ice cream is super good, and I always get nostalgia going back there. Overall, nice people there, and if your driving back from lake Cushman, you should check it out!

Not following health regulations. None of the employees are wearing masks.We called ahead of time to make sure they had what we need to make a clam chowder. They said that they had everything. Once I got there I realized that they have very little options and many items were missing. I selected a few things available and went to the cashier. Their credit card machine wasn’t working. The cashier just said “you have cash?” No apology for the inconvenience, no thank you either. Rather rude and unpleasant overall.

Stopped in to grab a few things, and found myself in a great conversation with the owner. Very quaint store with some great coffee and brownies. If you passing by you should definitely stop in for a visit. Made me feel like I was at home

Disappointed with a person that appeared to be an owner.I took my bike inside after I checked for signs saying not to. When I turned my back this person took my bike outside and placed it on the porch. I said "sorry if that is in the way" and was responded to with a very snarky voice "ya think so".I know this statement seems whiny, but it is an expensive bike and there was no request for me not to bring it in or asking me to keep it outside.In the unlikely event I ever go back I will bring a lock. I did not appreciate the way this person handled the situation.Aside from this instance I was pleased with the rest of the staff and product selection.I didn't have the ice cream but it looked great.

*** NO MASK POLICY ****Used to love this store, but it appears they don't believe that COVID-19 is real, nor do they believe in state mandates to limit the spread of the virus. Went there this weekend and this very small space was filled with customers not wearing masks and the staff just wore them under their chin. We live on Hood Canal and told all of our neighbors. They were equally appalled as most of us are seniors who are vulnerable. Such a shame they chose to alienate all of us. We will never be back, even after the pandemic. God knows how many other health codes they violate.

A little pricey, but the people who work there are all nice and helpful. They have a great assortment of ice cream that's made locally, my personal favorite is the lemon cheesecake.

Rude customer service. The owner or presumptive owner took a picture of the back of or VW sedan then proceed to watch us parouse the store before asking us to leave abruptly. Not sure what about looking about their overpriced gem jewelry caused such disdain.
