It’s supposed to be a lodge, a “resort style” experience, and yet the pool and hot tubs all close at 9 pm during the week. The Bar is also closed as is the fitness center. I can only conclude this property is intended for families with kids rather than adults. Don’t stay here if you’re planning on being out during the day and actually want to enjoy the property amenities in the evening, what a bummer for our stay. 👎

We've visited here on many occasions over the past 20 years. Usually for our anniversary or during Christmas. On our last visit, there was a wedding taking place when we arrived and prom was also happening during our stay. We feel the pricing is getting a bit high for what you get. The rooms could use a refresh. Small things like no USB charging in the room and dust in the corners. The biggest issue we experienced during our last stay was the amount of dining options doesn't match the room capacity. If the lodge is at full capacity, there isn't enough dining for everyone. We tried to have dessert and drinks later in the evening and the waits were 45 minutes to an hour at 8:30pm. They need to add another bar or restaurant or something. They seem to be catering to the larger corporate events and it feels like the casual over-nighters are getting squeezed out.No shortage of things to do on the property. I think if the price was a bit lower, we would overlook the small things like dust in the corners type stuff.

The lodge is located in a beautiful part of Washington. The lodge itself is a nice building. It has nice common areas for people to gather and play games or have drinks, and the swimming pool is actually very nice. I don't have high expectations for a hotel hot tub, but the outdoor hot tub was actually very pleasant. As expected, it gets pretty crowded in the evening after dinner. As for dinner, the Cascade room restaurant was less than impressive. I had the prime rib dinner special and there was nothing special about it. In fact, there was nothing prime about it. The food was mediocre at best for all all the meals that we got except for the chicken strips. Those were outstanding. The prime rib was more of just a rib roast that was very tough and gristly. The rooms were okay, though the rooms that our families rented hadn't been dusted in weeks. Our shower drained slowly so we had to really turn the water pressure down to keep the tub from filling up with soapy water. And the toilet seat was very loose, which is completely unacceptable as all it takes is two nylon nuts to be tightened to keep it from moving around. The bed mattresses in our two rooms were all worn out so that they were uncomfortable to sleep in with the dents that had formed in the mattresses from overuse. On the bright side, the entire staff at the lodge was outstanding. From the front desk people at reception, to the hostesses and the servers in the restaurant who were working their butts off to keep up with the tables, to the zipline guides who were funny and very responsible and detail-oriented. I don't know if I'll return to stay at the lodge, however, I would definitely consider doing more of the activities that they offer in the future.Rooms: 2/5 stars. Not clean enough and the plumbing and toilets need service.

I had the most bizarre experience At Skamania lodge and months later I’m still scratching my head with confusion. After much debate on leaving a review online, I feel like I should as something really doesn’t feel right about my experience. Long story short, I went on a girls trip to Skamania lodge and we stopped at a near by bar. We were talking and a gentlemen asked what we were doing there. After saying we were staying at Skamania lodge, he said he’s friend is the manager there and will see if he can “hook us up”. When we arrived, our room had been upgraded and the front desk lady had a $250 gift card with my first and last name written on it. I opened the gift card and it said it was from a woman’s name I didn’t recognize. I figured it was from the gentleman I met at the bar or the manager. Later, I got a message from the guy I met at the bar complementing my shoes he saw on social media. I responded asking if he sent me the gift card to which he responded “I plead the fifth”. During dinner he arrived at the restaurant and asked if we have met the manager. We said no and he said he would grab him. He brought him back and we briefly spoke. I asked the manager if the other gentleman left me the gift card, he smirked and nodded. The next day I used the gift card at the spa. When I did, the lady said there was a $0 balance and asked who I got it from. Speeding the story up, it turned out it was a stolen gift card that someone reported as missing. The front desk lady who originally gave me the gift card said a gentleman walked up to her and handed her the card with my name on it, asking to give it to me when I checked in. I asked the manager to look of the security footage and he said he couldn’t find anything. They then made me pay for my spa services, accusing me of stealing the gift card and sent me on my way. It honestly ruined my entire trip, it was not enjoyable. And I really feel in my heard it’s something this gentleman and manager do to women and no one ever thinks anything of it because the gift card it typically loaded. I just can’t believe they had no apologies or reconciliation for the most bizarre trip that felt completely taken by this huge mystery

Great in every way. From a nice personalized card signed by staff, (congratulating us on our anniversary, with chocolates), to the easy check in, very nice room (clean, nicely appointed, quiet, cozy gas fireplace), great food, wonderful views, clean pool and very nice outdoor hot tub, convenient hiking trails and all the staff were really welcoming and friendly. Easy to get to for a nice relaxing break from Portland. Will definitely return often.

Great food available any time for lunch and all afternoon and dinner. I bet they breakfast is very good too.We stopped at the Skaminia lodge for a quick (late) bite as we passed through the gorge on I-5. We were seated in the pub, not the dining room, but the view and comfort was just as good. We had a beat salad and a burger. Both were delicious. But what we truly enjoyed was the broad view across the grounds as it stretched into the gorge. It is just such a beautiful spot with a spectacular view in any weather. We stayed at the Skaminia lodge many years ago with our 4 kids. They loved playing in the pools (inside and outside) and the meadows adjacent to the main lobby. My wife and I enjoyed the fireplace and the food. It was a wonderful base from which to travel to various hikes and other points of interest in the Columbia Gorge.

We came here over Thanksgiving and it was a great staycation! If you’re in Portland and you need a little get-away, it’s only about 40 min away! The outdoor hot tub was my favorite and wasn’t crowded (at least when we were there). The spa looks nice but I didn’t go because it was very pricey. We also walked on the trails around the resort and it was lovely. All around very relaxing.Nearby activities: Wine-tasting nearby

WOW what a terrific place! This was our second time staying there and we were even more impressed than the first time (which was wonderful). We decided to go last minute and were lucky enough to get a terrific room with a gorgeous view of the river for December 30.Despite it being a very popular weekend for them, every employee we encountered was so professional and behaved with tremendous patience and grace.I really have to hand it to them! The front desk manager Deborah is really amazing, as are all of the lovely people who work with her, like Bernadette and Paula. The rooms are very clean and updated nicely. We even had a fireplace that added to the ambience of the room :)On the first floor they have a large, gorgeous room with a wall of windows looking out at the spectacular Columbia River Gorge, and plenty of different kinds of seating to accommodate all who would like to just sit and watch the mesmerizing view, or perhaps play a game at one of the many comfortable wood tables provided. We could tell that it was a great place for couples, families, kids and even quite dog friendly. Something for everyone! There was a spa, beautiful indoor pool and indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis. We didn’t get a chance to go zip-lining but it’s on the list for next time, as is their mini golf.We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in their Cascade dining room, which was gorgeous, had spectacular views of the river, very good food and outstanding service!Again, all this on what must have been one of their busiest weekends of the year.Well done Deborah! and all of the hard-working, dedicated employees we were fortunate enough to encounter. We will definitely be seeing you again soon!HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

You can do check-in anytime after 4 pm until midnight without notifying, which for us was very good. Really nice people working there, the parking is very close by, but you still should unload in front of the lobby. No need to bring towels they have plenty. Also, you get a nice robe. Free wifi. Spa on the weekend until 10 pm. The outdoor hottub is the best part.

Something to be aware of Rooms 343 to 345 are by the elevator and rooms are not insulated very well so noises are an issue. Advertised as a king bed but seemed like a queen. Pool/hot tub has a bad musty/mold smell. Outside hot tub was nice but it's not very private, fence is really low, as golfers walk by as they play. Food was not very good or fresh, cold coffee, old potatoes, couldn't chew thru a few of the mushrooms in the omelet. A couple of the staff were complaining about clients in the hotel and one of the clients walked by & said as much, very awkward. Looks like they are trying to maintain and upgrade the lodge so maybe some of these issues are being addressed. Our friends birthday celebration was interrupted by a 30 minute fire alarm test that noone told us about when we checked in. Our ears were still ringing when we left the next day. Beautiful area and lovely hot springs down the road. Don't forget to stop and purchase salmon from the Indigenous stop (signage will guide you) in town, it's delicious.Nearby activities: Disk golf, hot springs, golf

It’s 5:45 am and I’m sitting in the lobby of Skamania Lodge. Which, by the way, is really beautiful. The grounds are well manicured, they have lovely fireplaces, treehouses you can rent, playground…The lobby has a nice fireplace to warm you up.But if you value sleep, I suggest staying anywhere else. I was awoken around 5am by loud sounds coming out of the main lobby area. We were on floor 3 and can hear every single sound of the hotel getting ready for the day. Oh, and don’t forget the door out of the lobby that loudly slams any time people come in or out. Seems like an easy fix?Beds are very uncomfortable, feels like you are sleeping on springy plywood. Pillows are mediocre. Rooms are quite small, but do have a nice working area.Restaurant has been the most pleasant part of the trip. Decent fare, but prepare to spend a small fortune.Again the property is very cute. I might try the treehouses next time but I can’t say I would stay in the lodge itself again. 2.5/5

Booked 2 nights, but after a night we quit and came home which is a first. The location was fantastic, lodge had fantastic views and has a great bar and facilities. However the rooms, in particular the beds and the air conditioner were so bad that we just did not sleep.Rooms: The beds were super small and very uncomfortable.

Great lodge for corporate retreats and more higher end lodgings than you will find in town. It is set up like an old school lodge you would find back in the day. This means it looks a bit dated, and perhaps it is, but that does help with the charm. They have treehouses you can stay in as well.

I live just a few miles away from the lodge and went to dinner last night with some friends. The wait staff was amazing. The atmosphere is beautiful. My only problem is the food could be better. I had a lodge burger with fries. Everything was great except the burger pattie was frozen and tasteless. Now for 18 dollars for the meal. It’s so much cheaper and better to make homemade burgers. Please make those corrections. Thank you for a great evening.

Everything was nice, but the food was very pricey. Plus it’s kinda in the middle of nowhere so not a lot of other food options - and you have to pay tolls every time you cross the bridge. Nice gym and pool area. Didn’t take advantage of the adventure situation or any of the outdoor things because it was pouring rain when we were there, but it looked fun.

Just the most gorgeous lodge nestled in the trees on the border of OR and WA. It was such a cozy place with great service and amenities. Coffee in the lobby each morning enjoying stunning views of the river, sunset in the evening, great indoor and outdoor hot tubs, as well as hot tubs and saunas in the locker rooms of the spa (all available to guests). S’mores by the large firepit, a cute gift shop, board games provided while you hang out in the lobby. Rooms were cozy and had everything we needed. The food at River Rock was great (though a bit pricey). Skamania Lodge is such a delightful place and we will certainly be back! Our only complaint was that the walls were thin between rooms. We could hear neighbors in rooms beside and above us, almost to the point we wanted to make a noise complaint at 11:30pm because our upstairs neighbors sounded like they were moving furniture and stomping one night, LOL. Otherwise, this place is amazing and we will be back!

We all live locally and met to have dinner and celebrate a birthday at the Lodge. We had read the menus online prior to going there and had noted that their prices were excessively high, especially in the Cascade Dining Room, but sounded good. We met in the Rock River Bar for an appetizer and cocktail, and our service was very good--our Skamania Lodge Old Fashions were $17 each and jam packed with ice chips to the brim, while our "Basket of Fries" was $12 and came in a rectangular bowl (to be fair, the drinks tasted good but way too much ice; the fries were deliciously crisp, hot, and nicely sprinkled with sea salt, but not exactly a basket worth for $12). In the end, we bought 4 cocktails and the basket of fries, with a bill of @$120! We then went to the dining room for dinner--where the hostess was rather rude and abrupt upon our entry, even though we had a reservation and it was so empty you could have shot a canon through the place. The menu had what sounded like nice options, but extremely overpriced, so we stuck with the middle range items. I had the Gnocchi dish that was barely warm when served, was $25, had no meat, a horrible misrepresentation of gnocchi (flavorless pureed potato rolled like a tater tot and deep fried), dumped inside a mounded ring of slimy spinach that unfortunately hid the finely chopped, sauteed mushroom Duxelles (the best part of the plate), and had a couple glops of some herbed cream to dip the "tater tots" in...seriously pathetic and tasteless, but still cost $25! The dinner salad was another failure, sloppily plated, and unremarkable... maybe worth $5 at most. Then we had dessert, a Huckleberry in Patisserie with Lemon Curd, and topped with vanilla ice cream, that was the highlight of the entire experience... at $14 per! If we go there again, I think we will try the River Rock menu... or probably not! Go to Stevenson or Cascade Locks across the river, where you can find some darn good food and beverages, with great service, and reasonable prices!Food & drinks: We were there for dinner, and needless to say, we will never return.

Checked in for the night on Feb 17th Saturday. The scenery and location is very nice. The service was average to below average. There were only two bartenders for the whole place so they were rushed and it was hard to order. The food was below average and not good at all. We left the lodge the following morning to eat breakfast in Stevenson because the food quality was so poor. We had a dinner reservation at 7:15 for a window table for our anniversary. We had to wait 45 min, did not receive a window table, we overheard the hostess telling someone else they had overbooked for the night. Our waiter was an older gentleman, bald, that wore his black rim glasses on his head and was very condescending. After our disappointment of a dinner we returned to the other restaurant to sit at the bar and had another round of drinks. As we were leaving we realized our bill was quite a bit higher than before and we questioned it, the bartender charged us for a different drink and we had already closed out. She completely dismissed us and said "oh ok" then walked away. The service staff seemed to have a chip on their shoulder complex.

***Children, children, everywhere.**** Not a drop to enjoy. Overrun with disrespectful families not managing their shrieking children literally EVERYWHERE. If you’re going to charge “resort” prices then perhaps provide a resort experience? The vibe of this place is like an expensive summer camp. We couldn’t even enjoy a dinner without the incessant and entitled behavior of families who think it’s OK to ruin everyone else’s time. When did it become acceptable to pay near $300 for a room where you feel like you’re at McDonalds the whole time?Such a massive let down.

Wow this place is nice. The rooms are really comfortable and the atmosphere is really relaxing. It's tucked in the trees overlooking the Columbia River and sort of embodies the Pacific Northwest vibe. Lots of adventure in just about any direction nearby, huge fireplace, and if you're lucky some kind of special event. Check out the Holliday buffet, you can't go wrong.Rooms: The room was really clean and comfortable. Lots of space and a well appointed bathroomNearby activities: There's all kinds of outdoor activities in every direction. Fishing, hiking, ecotourism galore

A beautiful, relatively remote, hotel with wonderful views and lots to do and see. We spent the weekend for a wedding and had a blast. Plenty to fill the time outside of your event: our friends enjoyed the spa, there is an excellent disc golf course (and regular golf too), and it is a 5 minute drive to some lovely riverside views/attractions. We had a disappointing experience with the breakfast buffet so maybe skip that, but this was some of the best wedding food I've ever experienced, hands-down, so the kitchen staff know what they are doing!Rooms: The rooms were comfortable, clean, and roomy. Everything worked as expected.Nearby activities: They have an immaculately maintained disc golf course, axe throwing, hiking trails, zip-lining, and more. A short 5 minute drive away is the riverfront town of Stevenson where you can find all sorts of restaurants, spas, bars, shops, and more.Food & drinks: A very nice little bar in house, but you should skip the breakfast buffet as it is a poor value. Otherwise the house food is excellent though.Noteworthy details: The hotel is dog friendly.

Came here to celebrate an anniversary as we used to come often ten plus years ago, What a disappointment! The mattresses are seriously dated and extremely uncomfortable and all surfaces save the bathroom covered in a thick layer of dust! On top of that the food was a major disappointment. We came for the new years buffet as we had been regular customers some ten plus years ago of the Friday night buffets which were phenomenal. This trip we were served the slimmest serving of cold and stringy prime rib, overcooked shrimp and a barrage very mediocre sides. Not at all what I had come to expect from skamania lodge and especially not for $65 each! Next day we tried the breakfast buffet. Another disappointment as there were powdered eggs served two ways and again cold food. This time the sausage. We were too afraid to continue eating due to food poisoning concerns given the major lack of temperature control. This was $26! We will not be back nor can we recommend to anyone else. The only plus was our lovely New Year’s Eve server janelle. She was amazing and did an outstanding job.Rooms: Horribly uncomfortable old mattress and extremely dirty room! Floors needed vacuuming and all surfaces save the bathroom covered in a thick layer of dust!Food & drinks: Want cold mediocre food served with a side of food poisoning? At $$$$$ prices? Come here!

Had a wonderful meal. The staff accommodated us as we had our two pups with us. We ate in what I will call the fireplace room, with a view of the river. We were able to call the restaurant with our order and they brought it out to us.I had the blackened steelhead tacos. They were delicious! My Mom had the steelhead chowder and my wife had a turkey BLT.My only issue with our visit is when we went to pay the bill, the resort had added a 2% convenience fee and an 18% gratuity. I felt Thia was inappropriate.

I traveled to Skamania Lodge for a conference, and was very pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and warmth from all the staff there. Whatever questions it issues I had, they were very receptive and helpful.Being in such an isolated location, you definitely have to rely more on the on-site amenities, so it was good to know that they were plentiful. Between the pool, (small) gym, hiking trails, golf and disc golf course, and other outdoor pursuits, there was lots to do, although the weather was very rainy all three days. The catered meals we had were pretty good, well above average for large group dining. The indoor and outdoor dining locations were quite scenic and comfortable.Rooms were spacious and had most of the basics. A nice touch was the availability of power outlets at the desk and beside each bed. The bed was comfortable, the sofa not so much. Perhaps the most annoying part was just the level of noise overnight from the central air and then the fans outside on the adjacent building. If I weren't such a heavy sleeper that might have been problematic. The bathrooms were okay, good water pressure and temperature but the sliding glass door frame was easy to hit your head on.Overall, with the stay for the people and activities, but if you value well-appointed rooms, it wasn't the highest standard.
