In January of this year we had to make the gut-wrenching decision to put our sweet fur-baby down to rest, and the staff I encountered at the Spokane Humane Society were phenomenal! They were able to accommodate us on a Sunday, and they were SO patient with me while I was bawling hysterically.They wouldn’t allow me to be in the room while they put her down (it’s legally prohibited, from what I understood) but they did allow me to hold my baby while they sedated her so that she was never conscious of me not being there, and that was just as well. Thank you SO much for that, Amy!We chose to take her home and bury her under my favorite tree, and they brought her out discreetly wrapped in a little blanket.Putting a pet down is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and their patience and compassion was so greatly appreciated.

Aiden will not let you adopt a cat if you let him outside. He says the sparrow population is in danger and the cats are to blame. I found him disingenuous and laughable because he argued that I didn't even know the cat I wanted to adopt. So it was apparent he was holding that particular cat for someone else. The dark haired woman sitting behind the desk on the two visits I made is rough and tries to appear intimidating, she isn't enjoying her time there. These humane societies are not affiliated with the main Humane Society. It's a name like any other according to the Washington DC location headquarters. Anyone can open and license a "Humane Society" business name, label it a non-profit business and operate it. This location is in reality just THAT generic regardless of how long they've been in operation. This is my unbiased experience without rose colored glasses. Don't need this negative hole in the wall a part of my life, donate to SCRAPS!

The staff here are obviously protective X compassionate to the animals housed here. The volunteer process is extremely thorough as well, with highly educational modules. Their cat areas are cozy and make interacting with/observing them easy.It's difficult to walk through the kennel, but the dogs, though stressed, are clearly cared for. Setting up a meet and greet with the dogs is easy; there is a room specifically for this purpose with a bench, a chair and a sink (and treats).We had a great time this year for the National Day of Mourning taking one of the pups out to the run to play in the snow.We highly recommend the Spokane humane Society as a place to give back to these innocent animals who are sadly and too often subject to our whims.

The Spokane humane society have a bunch of really good people. They work very hard to get good homes to the animals they get in there . They help for people that can't afford food for their animals and the vet clinic is at a much lower price then any of the other vets .

We need went out to enjoy the 125th birthday at the Humane Society. Troop 2537 had a special event and it was definitely worth seeing. Dropped off a lot of donations in once and great little prices. We didn't take any new for babies home yet but there's always next month.

I was treated rudely. I will never seek to adopt from them again. They had unreasonable rules and don't care about the welfare of these poor animals getting a quality home. I would suggest you go to SCRAPS.

I recently visited the shelter. It was very clean. They have an amazing cat area. All of our interactions with staff were friendly and helpful. If you're looking to adopt a pet, I would definitely recommend checking here.

The staff here all love animals and really care about finding all the animals under their care a forever home. We decided to head over and look at the dogs in their care and to our surprise we were able to find our new dog Koda there. The staff let us play with him as well as introduce him to our current dogs. They really go the extra step in helping you find the right animal to adopt.

I called yesterday morning about my baby boy snowshoe cat who had suffered some sort of trauma. I was told I would most likely receive a call back from intake, but that didn't happen, and my boys symptoms got far worse, so we made the tough decision.Poor guy couldn't walk or go potty without going all over himself.Staff were very kind and quick, we came not too long before closing time. They did a very quick general exam and told me they didn't think I was making a wrong decision, and that some places may determine that it's too much work for a lesser quality of life. I know he would always be disabled. We were sad we didn't get to be with him during the euthanasia process, but I understand why, and perhaps it's better for us both anyway.We paid for a private cremation, $145 total, or 30 for euthanasia and the rest for private, we will be picking up his remains in a week or two. I can't thank them enough for helping me honestly... I didn't know what else to do, but I didn't want him to die in pain. We would've rather had him with us... But I didn't want to chance him another night of pain...

This place is amazing! The employees and volunteers were so accommodating and helpful! I originally would never get a dog unless it was from a breeder but once seeing how the employees in the facility take care of and care about these animals I changed my mind! Will for sure be considering them next time I’m ready for a dog! Thank you for helping me find duke!

My only issue was they know nothing about the animals. Like do they get along with other animals. We had to return a dog because he was too aggressive to other dogs which we have. But even through a kennel , a gate or a fence the dog was majorly aggressive. Otherwise it was a great experience

My partner and I went in this afternoon to check for a microchip in a stray cat we found last week--the front desk staff were very helpful, even calling the cat's prior shelter to try and get in touch with their human. I have no experience with adopting specifically from SHS or with using their other services, but from what we saw during our brief wait they seem to be on top of things.It's worth giving them a call in advance, since their website and phone menu have slightly conflicting information re: walk-ins and services. The phone menu can be overwhelming if you don't know who you're looking for, so it may be a good idea to look on their website for specifics on what extension to use.Not related to our visit, but I thought it worth mentioning--there's a catio and dog yard for the animals there, which I was glad to see! We're not looking to adopt at the moment (we've got a full house with two, now three cats) but I'd definitely consider adopting from them in the future.

Thanks to Genevieve and donna lilly black is doing amazing adjusted super fast and is not scratching except for her kitty tree and has taken over the house in a good way she's eating and drinking regularly we're doing great!!!

Horrible place all about $$$ dont care about animals. My wife and lost our home and the Spokane police took our family dog and they wouldnt release our family dog to my wife. Saying that i told them not to. It took a friend to go in and pay a premium fee to adopt him. Charlie is a beautiful expensive poodle mix. They didnt care about him crying and howling to go with my wife. Just wanted that adoption fee.

Great experience, smooth process, and amazing staff! The staff really knew the dogs on a personal level to share their behaviors and quirks with us. We met our top two choices that we read about online, and they had a lot of details to help us understand if they'd be a good fit. We took a day to make a decision before returning the following day. Signed all the paperwork and made a returning appointment (we had to prep our home).Gotcha Day: we purchased a raised neater feeder and leash from them (incredibly reasonable pricing). They gave us a goodie bag (donated toys/leash), a sample of his dog food, advice on taking home a rescue dog, and they said a sweet goodbye to him as we set off with our new fur buddy!
