This is a quirky pseudo camping/trailer park that has vintage campers. It’s fun but is showing its age, at least in the trailer I stayed in. Keep the vintage please but get everything restored and working please. I would stay again but now know better what I’m paying for. Used the spa area twice and THAT was great, just private enough to be naked if you want. I’d like one of my own now.

An amazing portal into a vintage wonderland complete with pay phones, record players, VHS and more quirky elements like a vintage thrift store inside a camper, and a geodesic dome full of plants. You don’t want to miss the Finnish Sauna and sunsets on the beach. Found a few treasures at the Thrifty Trailer too. I love what Sou’wester is doing and I’ll definitely be back.

Ok, this place is delightful. I'm staying in the Old Spartan. It is so charming in here, and comfortable. A bit of a walk to the beach, but you can hike for miles while you're here. The whole place has a chill vibe. The Sauna is incredible! Great coffee every morning. ( Though I'm playing with the French press in my trailer today, that's pretty lovely too. ) I needed to get away and this was the perfect retreat. Did have a snag with the shower, but they sent someone over right away to fix it. The staff is lovely. I attended a sound bath with acupuncture, which was a great event. They have lots of good things going on regularly. Recommend this place wholeheartedly. Just keep in mind, these are vintage trailers, they're not perfect, but they're fun. And the staff will help you with any quirkiness.

Cute, quaint, warm, and welcoming! My only complaint is the mosquitoes, but you can't really control that. But other than that, the bathrooms were clean. The camper was clean. The property was well maintained. The staff was friendly. They provided everything you needed. It was a great experience and I hope I can come back again some day.Noteworthy details: Super hippy honor system. Respectful of guests.

One of my favorite places to visit! If "rustic," "quaint," "artsy," and "approachable hipster" are words that call to you, you'll love this place. If "top of the line," "luxury," and "immaculate" are what you're looking for, this is not the place for you.Our weekend was perfect: a big storm the evening we arrived, continuing through the morning. Dinner at the Depot was one of the best we've had in awhile. Saturday morning: Hot coffee at the self serve stand, then an hour in the sauna and cold plunging in the rain, drive to Astoria for pastries, lattes, and vegetarian breakfast, climbing the Astoria column, back to Long Beach and the Sou'wester. Found some clothes and home decor in the vintage trailer. Dinner at 42nd Street Cafe. Concert at the Sou'wester enjoying the talented Isabeau Waia'u Walker. Sunday morning was massages down the street at Adrift then back the 42nd Street Cafe for breakfast. Throw in some beach time here and there and it was the perfect fall weekend at the coast.Thank you to all the awesome staff at the Sou'wester for a magical weekend. 💜Rooms: We stayed in a vintage trailer. The heaters provided were effective. Like all trailers, you'll hear the elements.Walkability: Very easy walk to the Depot, 42nd Street Cafe, and North Jetty Brewing.Food & drinks: The self-serve snacks and items available in the lobby are a great selection.Noteworthy details: The reservations for the Finnish sauna fill up quickly. Make it a priority to reserve a time during your trip. The cale dar opens one week ahead of time to the hour. If you want to book at 9am on Saturday, get online at 9am the Saturday prior.

Amazing place to stay. Staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms are awesome as well. We stayed in the historical lodge and it was an amazing glimpse into the past with vintage fixtures, appliances, and room. You have access to a commissary store downstairs, vast VHS collection and tv with VHS player to go with it, plenty of board games, a record player and a large library of vinyls, and live music. This is one of my new favorites for Long Beach. And I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys vintage and adventure.

Had our wedding here, and it was an absolutely magical experience. Mary the venue coordinator is a gem of a human - that rare combination of calm positivity combined with being on top of everything. Truly the best part of our planning was working with her.Our guests loved the glamping vibe, the sauna, tea trailer, being so close to the ocean, the vinyl and VHS libraries, smores over the firepits and late night hangs in the lodge.Local businesses are very accommodating - shout out to North Beach Tavern for delivering some late night pizza, the Loose Kaboose for pushing together a bunch of tables for an impromptu pre-rehearsal dinner, Nansen for great florals, North Jetty for solid beer and Adrift for their delicious cranberry infusions. Sierra's Place around the corner saved many a hungover wanderer.

It's not the Ritz Carlton, it's an experience, and unique, place to visit. They have live music every so often. It's very off beat path, if that's what you're into, this is the place.Enjoy razor clamming, if it's in season. Long trails along the beach. In the summer it's a little too crowded for me LBW is very crowded in the summer.

A magical getaway! This is my first stay at the Sou'wester and I loved it! The staff is all super friendly, facilities are very clean, and you get access to a ton of high-quality amenities, including pretty great Wi-Fi.I'd say the culture there among guests and staff is friendly, inclusive hipster, in the best way possible. Reminds me of the communities in European hostels. One stand-out feature is their Finnish Sauna and Garden Spa. DEFINITELY book an hour appointment in there during your stay! It's a private, out-door spa with a sauna and heated bathroom (includes a gorgeous open waterfall shower). I cannot tell y'all how wonderful it was to relax in a sauna, and then step out into sunshine before dipping into a cold plunge (the outdoor bathtub inside the beautiful private garden).Second most stand-out feature are the on-site events. They book really cool art exhibits and live musical shows that are free to all guests! But really, everything they mention on their website is even better in real life.

My partner Cat and I’s wedding at Sou Wester was an absolutely magical experience that left us overflowing with gratitude. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we were enchanted by its unique beauty. The rustic charm and natural surroundings create an atmosphere that's truly one of a kind. What made our experience even more special was the incredible staff. Each member went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Their kindness and helpfulness throughout the entire event were genuinely heartwarming. They are such a dedicated and caring team, and we couldn't be more thankful.A special shout-out to their event coordinator, Mary Korte. Mary's clear communication, warmth, and unwavering support made the wedding planning process seamless. We are forever grateful.Sou Wester has become one of our favorite places to stay. We look forward to returning here for many years to come, reliving the memories of our special day and enjoying the tranquility and beauty of this remarkable property. Sou Wester holds a special place in our hearts, and we can't recommend it enough to anyone seeking a truly exceptional and memorable wedding experience and cozy oceanside retreat. Thank you, Sou Wester, for making our dreams come true!

I love this place. I've stayed here multiple times over the years. I don't want to doc these guys because this a treasure and the people working here are so nice but there does need to be improvements. If you're reading this review, book your stay! This is just things that need to updated. We stayed in one of the more expensive trailers (Picnic) which I consider one of the better ones but for $200 a night..and that's with a discount.. there needs to be serious updates.-one of the heaters didn't work so we had to bring the plug in one from the back up to the front-the bed is not comfy, invest in at least mattress toppers at the very least maybs?-the record player speed was up a turbo and didn't go down-there's spiderwebs in multiple corners, which may be a given but a little detailed sweep would be nice-and the smell was so musty which I get with the vintage trailers, there is charm! though i think cracking windows and ventilation between checked in guests would be nice, maybe even some essential oils in the carpets lolOK i'm sorry to be a Karen but $200 is a lot on top of paying fees to use the sauna and just needed to be said! We had a great time! This place is great!

Located near the most “disappointing cape” I’ve visited in all my life’s cape visits. What a funky and cool spot! Museum of vintage trailers that have been preserved for generations to enjoy. Writing this while planning my return visit (maybe next weekend). Awesome awesome place!!

Hard to find the words to describe this most delightful, enchanting, and Charming property. Has a nice variety of vintage travel trailers and we were able to look inside a few of them that were not rented. Also visited the bottom half of the beautiful Vintage Hotel and spoke to the wonderful desk clerk Tanner. Our visit to the property was to take a sauna, great deal at $11 for two of us for 1 hour. Sauna experience was A+. The sauna and adjoining bathroom and shower sit in a lovely private Garden setting. There are a few benches to sit on in the open-air garden with lovely ferns and trees around. Towels and plastic drinking glasses are provided as is nice fresh cold water in the garden close to the sauna. It is truly a very relaxing experience. We will be back and it is highly recommended.

I love the slow mornings with bottomless coffee and books. I’m not getting dressed until noon. Our lazy dogs are still recovering from a proper play on the beach yesterday. Still glowing from the late night sauna session. Made some incredible finds in the thrift trailer. Later today I’m going to construct a Kindle holder with the legos I scored. What to do next? Pop some oysters from the spot a few blocks away? Wander the antique palace for odd taxidermy? Looks like it’s actually tea time and we’re going to milk this morning a bit longer. Always a lovely stay, clean, cute af and the most friendly staff. Thanks y’all!

We had an excellent time at Sou’wester! Parking was easy to find, the grounds were so clean, and the staff so welcoming! The amenities kept us at the campsite almost all weekend - between the live music, the sauna, tea trailer, and doing yoga it was an incredible time to say the least. We also got some time in the evening to play some records, battle ship, and watch some old movies together. It was an incredible, and memorable birthday weekend. Thank you to the staff there for creating such a well-curated experience for guests. We stayed in the Deer Camper - would definitely stay again! Can’t wait to come back!

I love this place. Cozy trailer or the beach cabins - you can’t go wrong. Don’t miss out on the Finnish sauna - you have to make an appt a week in advance of your stay - and check out the cute thrift trailer!

We just got back from our first stay on the Blue Bird Bus. I am a single mom with a couple small dogs and two kids, 6 and 4.So many great things:1) Hot water in our trailer was immediate. Faster than most hotels.2) We had our own toilet which was convenient for late night tinkles.3) The oven and fridge all worked well so I could cook for the kids and keep water, beer, ice cream, fruit, etc.4) Dog treats and towels provided. Not your average plain, store bought biscuit.5) Vinyl record player and vinyl library on site. We listened to Beatles and Joe Cocker.6) The temperature inside the bus was easy to manipulate. The windows allow the ocean breeze to sweep through. There is a space heater and small fan if needed. My dogs were cooler inside than out in July.7) The bed was comfortable8) There was a little store on site where you could get smores stuff, firewood, beer, wine, sparkling water, chips... a can of beans which is all the rage with my kids. You added it to a daily tab and were charged end of day/visit.9) There is an art gallery, thrift store and small bus theater on site. Very small but so cool! It reminds me of everything I love about PNW indie culture.10) Complimentary coffee and tea are served 9am every day in a coffee booth. The coffee is good. Both dining in and taking out coffee cups are provided with half and half AND almond milk ❤️11) Doggie bag stations, trash and recycling are all in practical corners of the park making everything you need in one small area.12) The Staff is Ah-mazing. From booking to day-to-day service, they were NICE and helpful.13) You are half a mile from the beach. It is a safe and easy walk with dogs and kids.14) You can borrow games and puzzles from the room behind the vinyl library. All in all, I just felt so comfortable there. My kids were in stimulation detox. It was just such a wonderful experience. I felt really content there.Cons:1) I am a single mom. I need my coffee by 7am. The coffee stand, while so appreciated and deeply, deeply loved, needs to open her doors to me earlier.2) There is no food delivery in this area. Most of the restaurants are really expensive and their food is mediocre. Bring your own food if you are organized enough.3) Bugs. All apart of the atmosphere. I tried to enjoy my coffee next to the African Queen in a rocking chair but was attacked by a swarm of mosquitos. How very faithful to the film!If you are high maintenance, this isn't the place for you. The drapes were sometimes knocked off. Quick and easy fix. You have to enjoy the whole package. It looks small upon first entry but it is a little cute commune. All it needs is goat yoga. 🐐

What a darling little spot! Staying here was pretty dreamy for a destination glamping site. From a delightful assortment of available commissary/firewood and borrowables to cozy and inviting shared spaces, the Sou'wester Historic Lodge & Vintage Travel Trailer Resort has everything an introvert, extrovert or psychonaut could get into. I especially loved the sauna and hugely atmospheric movie bus. I was definitely into the variety of spoken word pieces and shorter art house reels presented. This is most definitely a place for people to enjoy a classy, next-to-nature feel - with just the right sprinkle of 'roughing it' (we stayed in the Arrowhead). Shared kitchen and public bathing areas on site PLUS daytime coffee on tap? Absolutely going to come here off season to work remotely and enjoy some time away from the city. 10/10 will be stopping in again.

A funky vintage trailer park on the coast? All the yesses, please. We stayed in the African Queen, which is also the title of the only film Humphrey Bogart won an Oscar for. This boat of a vintage trailer will sleep six comfortably (three full-sized beds plus a daybed). It's filled with modern African art, and a kitchen and bathroom. There's a store with basic foodstuffs for purchase and a lending library of VHS tapes and vinyl to play in your vintage trailer. The grounds are fun to explore and check out the old trailers. There's a little vintage shop and a well appointed community kitchen with a full sized range and gas grill. Finally, the beach is but a five minute walk away.If you're looking for a fun glamping getaway, the Sou'wester in the place to go!

The staff and service here have been impeccable. The fact that their rental units often have record players and a massive collection of free-to-borrow records are a huge inventive for my family to return again and again. But I'll admit it, for my money - it's the indelible stamp of "Grandma's House Smell" permanently affixed to these vintage trailers that inspires helpless, requited love in me each time we go.Excellent staff and little-store offerings, free access to fire pits, saunas and D20 shaped buildings, five minute walks to the unforgiving ocean, these are all just gravy. Go here, if you possibly can.

Adorable trailers, all with unique charm! Visited for Valentine's weekend and enjoyed getting extra cozy with our favorite throw back VHS tapes and vinyls! Also very romantic being coupled up together with the sound of the rain on the trailer roof. Close walk to the beach (which you can drive on) and into Long Beach with lots of quirky shops and photo ops! The staff was super friendly and helpful in every way. We also found some goodies in the thrifty trailer and enjoyed the Finnish sauna <3 10/10 recommend!

Do not miss this bohemian trailer collection. It's a GEM! Really great and loved antique trailers. Awesome environment for kids and adults. A family favorite place not too far from Portland. We returned and found the Sou'wester to be just as outstanding as the first stay. Even better, since they had a quality concert on the lawn, and we enjoyed the sauna this time. The 65+ year old, amazingly preserved AirStream we stayed in was just right for a cozy weekend.

I visited a few weekends ago with a group of friends, this was my second time here. Check-in was a very long process, when we arrived around 5PM, there were 3 other couples waiting to check-in. Apparently only one person works the desk to check guests in and also brings them on a tour of the property while showing them their trailer. When my partner arrived later in the evening and went to pay for everything, he was told by staff that he had to wait while they had a "staff meeting", after driving 6+ hours, he was pretty frustrated at the lack of service. We added the birthday package on to our room reservation, I was pretty disappointed with the wilting, half dead flowers. Especially for $40. On a much more positive note, our trailer was super cute and clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the rest our group agreed that it was the most comfortable bed they've slept on. We found that each trailer / cabin our group had reserved, came well stocked with dishes, cutlery etc. for preparing food. I love how friendly all the guests are who stay here, the kids especially had a great time running around and exploring. Can't beat the great location, close to the beach, dining, shops, but also quiet. Would definitely come back.

Since Sou'wester now has be one somewhat of a 2nd home to our little family, time for an update. This place is magic. We return every 2-3 months due to the following:The sounds of the sea and birdsThe proximity to the sea and the beachDog friendly and affordable when bringing your pooch(es)The wellness trailer and sauna (sauna sells out so make sure you book before your trip, reservation can be made upto 7 days in advance)The record players and kitchen amenities (we love to cook) in the trailersThe fire pits outside each trailer- s'mores anyone? The vintage trailerThe store for any last minute needs, wine and beer for those who care, tooMostly comfy beds, we have had two bad experiences with extremely uncomfortable mattresses, which we reported and hopefully those have been rectified since. Our latest favorite trailer is Imperial Spartan, a family trailer, super roomy, comes with a tub, real sink, and with bunk beds too!July 2023We keep coming back. Best place ever for dog and kid. 2021
