This is a family run business. Kelly who is the owner is a very nice welcoming person. The food is fantastic. I had the fried oysters. I love fried oysters and have eaten them in many places. These fried oysters are without a doubt the best I have ever had. I ask for extra crispy and they were delicious. They get their oysters fresh from Oysterville at the end of the peninsula. I highly recommend the oysters. My partner had the chicken bacon salad and he loved it. The breaded chicken was prepared fresh and sliced and added to the top of a very nice large salad. Served with homemade ranch dressing. He enjoyed the salad very much and also highly recommends this to all salad eaters who stop by.In other words this is a great restaurant and should definitely be tried out.Kid-friendliness: Very friendly for kids

I was in long beach for my sisters wedding and could not resist stopping in.I showed up 40 minutes before they officially closed I didn't notice that they close sign was off but I opened the door and was greeting by Kelli she was amazing we had a good conversation about the Kaboose and it honestly was very homey. As she was cooking she was showing me all the different thing in the Loose Kaboose. Not to mention a Thomas the tank engine train that goes thru the Kaboose. After a little bit my food was ready and let me tell you was it good? OH HELL YEAH! I particularly liked the Kaboose Club sandwich and the seafood so good. Definitely recommend stopping in and checking out all the unique items. I can't wait to go back

Cute diner, not that busy when I came in so the service was fast. Food was good. Lots of dollar bills donation hanging all over, some merch and train collection on display. I love that the table was a collage full of historical stories about the town, culture etc.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp going to the diner

I don't advise coming here. My husband and I were looking forward to halibut fish and chips during our camp trip. This was a very disappointing experience. The menu stated that the 2 piece fish came with coleslaw and choice of fries, salad or chowder. Also tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. They said they were out of chowder when we ordered. (a seafood restaurant with no clam chowder??) Anyway we went ahead with our order. When we got our food there was no coleslaw and no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce in the bag. My husband went back in to get the rest of our order. He was then told "well, we're out of coleslaw and tartar sauce." So we paid $40.29 for 4 pieces of fish and 2 orders of fries (about half of the items we stopped there for.) No chowder, no coleslaw, no tartar sauce. I wish we had gone to Bob's chowder house.UPDATE: Kellie, the owner, reached out to me and made it right. She's giving us a complimentary fish and chips the next time we're in town. There was a reasonable explanation for what happened so we'll be coming back. Kellie showed a lot of integrity by calling me with a sincere apology. By the way, the fish and chips that we got was delicious that day in spite of the kerfuffle.

The Loose Kaboose Diner is an amazing place with an outstanding theme. I loved trains as a kid, and I still do. The service is great. The waitresses are really attentive and check up on you a lot. Which is great. I don't have to flag them down like other places. I love putting up dollars. The owner is very nice. I gave her ideas for some themes. I've been there 3 times. And I'm still going back. Highly recommend.

Ate here 25 years ago and had not been in since. This go around I brought my 4 children and wife. The place looks exactly the same. The smell of the food is too good to be described. The server was top notch and accomodated our large family with exemplary service. She even hung a picture my son had colored her. Our food was awesome. Literally the best food we had on our trip. If you have yet to dine here we urge you to do so.

This place looks a bit sketchy from outside but it's nice inside. The first thing you'll notice is the $1 bills.... everywhere. I guess people wow their name and date on a $1 Bill and then are given tape to put it somewhere. If someone ever breaks in they'll make a fortune without cracking the safe, but they'll have a bunch of money with names and dates on it. The food was better than expected... The halibut fried to golden perfection and the crinkle cut fries were crispy and not soggy. I will definitely eat here again.

Ok.... this place is amazing. Had their prawns and a little bit of their Halibut. Both of those food items are to die for. The breading was perfect, and they were cooked and seasoned to such high standards. (Warning/promise: there's a ton of butter involved so if you have heart problems, or don't WANT heart problems, order something else) the cook goes out in the morning and catches fresh clams for her dishes. The service was so sweet. The hostess is the owner's daughter and just such a sweetheart and was so on top of her care for us. The place was a little expensive but so worth it. I only gave 4 stars on the atmosphere because my son was screaming because he was super tired and wanted to go home.... so be warned that people like my family are allowed to be there, lol.Tl;dr- some of the best seafood ever, and a great experience overall.Parking: If the place is busy, expect to struggle to find parking.Kid-friendliness: Great family-friendly atmosphere. There's a motorized model train that runs through the building while you eat.Wheelchair accessibility: The ramp goes right to the front door.

Ok, I’m that person who ordered chicken strips at a fish place… but they were so warm and filling. The fries were nice and crispy. The coleslaw cool, no real splice to it. And for those of you who do like the halibut, my neighbors at the table to the eighth seemed to enjoy their freshly battered and fried option very much. The lady serving us was very nice and made us feel welcome. The prices aren’t bad at all either. Check out this little place if you are ever near long beach and need a fuel up.

A friend recommended this place to us (we're from out of town), so of course my husband and I had to try it! We both got specialty sands. I chose the Hot Pastrami, Bacon, Swiss and my husband got the Round House Rueben, and let me tell you.. they were absolutely delicious!! Freshly made and so packed with flavor. We each took a bite of the other's sandwich out of curiosity after our own tasted so good, and both thought the other's sandwich was delicious too! GREAT food, wouldn't change a thing. I would absolutely go again if I was back in the area sometime. 🤤👏🏻👌🏻

Updated review, originally visited in Nov 2019. Updated jul 2022. New owners.Overall... 6/10It's and interesting niche little place and fairly popular, however it took 15-20 minutes just to get drinks. Service is definitely slow. From sit down to food in front of us was around 40 minutes.I got the seafood combo basket. Fish was halibut: good. 3 shrimp: good. A crab cake and some oysters which were ok. The crab cake tasted like a veggie burger to me. The clams were good, if a bit over salted. They were out of chowder and out of tartar sauce so I had ketchup with everything. I didn't ask for ice in my drink but my soda was warm direct from their dispenser. They're supposed to be open till 8pm most days but closed an hour after we got there, at 6:30p because they were out of food.Dining room is set up a bit oddly, with it split in to two areas by a wall. The one room seems to have been an outside area once, and consequently it gets quite cold in there in the winter months.Part of the food prep appears to be done in one end of that room, however the restaurant seems generally clean (I didn't check their bathroom).A few of my mom's shrimp had been fried almost beyond recognition. When the train runs it squeaks and squeals. I was actually glad when they turned it off, it needs oiled.Overall it is a mom n pop operation and we would be willing to try them again on a day when they're less busy.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible ramp

Today we stopped for lunch and tried a cup of their clam chowder, a 3 crab cake dinner and their Hot pastrami-bacon-swiss sandwich on rye. It was very good.

Cute ☆FIVE STAR☆ (for a diner) quaint little seafood and sandwich shop. The owner, operator, cook, and waitress - Tasha, was delightful to visit with. The Combo Seafood Basket was fresh and delicious. We shared the Basket, and each had a cup of clam chowder, which was plenty. I wanted to try the Homemade Apple Blossom dessert, so we took one to go...it was so yummy warmed up in the microwave oven for just 30 seconds. Tender flakey crust with thin sliced apples and a dollop of caramel on top.AND DON'T MISS THE TRAIN which rides around inside the diner!
