We adopted Sam, our wonderful Black and Tan Coon Hound puppy from ECPR. They required us to go through extensive screening before we were permitted to have Sam as a part of our family. The process was a little annoying, but we understand the importance of finding the right match of dog and humans. We are very pleased with ECPR and gladly recommend them.

Great selections and good prices for quality food. Every purchase supports rescue animals! I don't know of any other pet food store that does such a wonderful thing. I shop here often and the staff is very kind and helpful. Clean store with top brand varieties.

I was looking for a new dog after my dog suddenly passed away. I had reached out to several rescues, one of which responded to my inquiry stating that the dog I was interested in was not a good match for me. i respected their honesty because I wanted to make sure my adoption was successful for me and for the dog. I saw Bayou on ECPR via Petfinder, sent an email and received a call the next day. Their goal is to make a successful placement for the sake of the pet and the family. After talking about my home etc. and the dog's personality it was determined that my home would be a good match so I made an appt to meet Bayou. As I sat quietly on the floor of meet an greet room she came in from the dog area. I was pretty sure I wanted to adopt her but I was leaving the choice up to her. She made her feelings quite clear because she walked right over a sat down next to me. ECPR brought her to my house a couple of days later where she is quite happy. Here she is with her favorite toy, a red squeaky dog I call Clifford. Thank you ECPR for my new BFF.

I read the reviews on this place, noting some of the one and two star reviews -- what a bunch of selfish, entitled children these reviewers are. I wouldn't have sent you home with an animal either. You didn't get a kitten? You're unfit to have an animal? You want a companion for your over-bred designer breed dog and didn't get one? Gasp, they didn't let you adopt a dog even though you think your sole qualification for pet ownership is the fact that you have a large yard? You found the questions made you feel like a criminal? Cry me a river and grow up. This is an animal rescue not a Best Buy: the only allegiance these people should have is to the animals. Customer service is not required nor would I expect it.I visited Emerald City a while back and the facility is spotless. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful, kind and really care about the animals that are in their charge. They feed them top-of-the-line food. Their veterinary care is impressive. You can literally FEEL the love radiating out of this place.I met the most amazing little love sponge of a dog and I am taking time to consider whether I could give her the best forever home. I had a great experience there and was genuinely happy to meet everyone. But even if it hadn't been a good experience, it wouldn't have mattered: adoption is about THE ANIMAL and not me.When you're adopting an animal, please remember that this is a living, breathing creature. He or she has a heartbeat. They feel pain. They have feelings. They've been through hell and are probably confused and scared about why they're there. They need love. They need the best care you can give. They need to be your priority. Anything less than that and you don't deserve them.

I was so pleased to buy my dogs food from Emerald City Pet Supplies. They had the exact food my dog likes, which is very hard to find at petco and mudbay. I ended up paying less than I did at other stores! The person I talked to on the phone, I think her name was Rebecca, was so helpful. She ordered exactly what I wanted.

I had such a great experience with Emerald city pet rescue. I adopted a foreigner half month old terrier mixed puppy named atla and she is really great. Additionally, the staff at Emerald city pet rescue made it really easy and they were very supportive when it came to adopting my new family member family member. II would highly recommend their is there services to anybody who is looking to adopt a pet or is a pet or get pet supplies

This is the worst shelter I have ever been to. I would absolutely give it -10000 stars if I had to. I wanted to adopt a perfectly good puppy a few months ago. I was amazed at the clean place, yet they don't allow you to view them right away. So I thought to myself, "Okay, maybe their process is just as efficient." Huh!!! As if! A little while later, I got a call about the puppy, and I went and had an appointment with it, and I brought my older 5 year old dog with me to greet the puppy. My dog and the puppy immediately hit it off, and even the workers said it was a good match. I got so excited, and I spent the next week preparing for the puppy. But after nearly 4 FREAKING months later, that puppy had been adopted by someone else, and they didn't even tell me. I went and asked them, but the lady at the front desk snorted and forced me out. I would never go again.

I think it's important to rescue dogs, and I am really glad that my girlfriend and I were chosen by ECPR to be able to rescue one of their dogs. They have worked with us in so many ways to help us make sure we can keep Max. I can't speak highly enough of how we were treated. 10/10

I am very happy to find this rescue center, because they really care about the dog and serious for find them a forever home by evaluating each applicants. This place do not have a walk-in where you can visit all the pets all at once comparing to government funding rescue centers. But they can arrange you to see the dog that you are interested in by scheduling appointments. The staff are friendly and explain everything in very detail. This is not the style that everyone can accept. But I highly recommend anyone to check this place out to adopt your fluffy friends!

Plenty of other places to adopt from that treat and pay their employees way better. The founder of this place is a grade A narcissist that exploits employee benefits by using the shelter as a daycare and laundry center for her multitude of personal animals. Upper management is in her pocket too. Quite sad, honestly.

No Stars for this adoption process! This business is totally unreasonable with its expectations of people who adopt their pets. We have been cat owners for 35 years and have always taken excellent care care of them. They all were very old when they died. We relocated from the east coast several years ago and miss having a cat. At the Emerald City Kitty facility, were denied a cat that we wanted to adopt for several reasons: apparently we gave “inconsistent answers” which they did not explain, we were also expected to spend upwards of $20,000 or whatever was needed to save the cat's life, we were expected to allow our cat to be on the kitchen counter and table which we had trained our cats not to do. Apparently no limitations on the pet’s behavior. I wish we had known all this before going through the adoption process at this organization. It ended up to be a very unpleasant experience.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Emerald City Pet Rescue! Due to a medical emergency, where a family member had to be moved to an Adult Family Home, we had 3 elderly kitties in desperate need of a new home. Two of the kitties were a mom and her son. I called every organization in town to no avail. When I contacted Emerald City Pet Rescue, they were immediately responsive! Two volunteers came to the home to meet the kitties, and thank goodness, they were able to take all three! The kitties were taken directly to a vet, for any medical needs. We very much wanted the mommy and son kitties to be kept together. Not long after, I received an email from Emerald City, that they had been adopted together, and they included pictures of them in their new home! The third kitty was too elderly and sickly to be adopted out, so one of the volunteers took him home and took care of him. His last days were spent in the kindest most loving hands. Again, I can't say enough wonderful things about Emerald City Pet Rescue!!! They are an amazing organization, truly dedicated to the rescue and care of critters.

I believe that they genuinely care about their animals and take good care of them. However, they were not upfront about the behaviorial problems of the dog until the appointment. I would have preferred if they had communicated in the description online or over the phone that a dog needs a more experienced owner, may require extra training from a professional, or has more severe medical problems.

The pets are kept very well and the adoption process, while lengthy, makes sense. And we stay in touch since they really do care about how their 'placements' are doing. Only weird (to me) thing was looking on-line for a pet. But it all worked out splendidly! Farley and l couldn't be happier. As for the store, it is great with a lovely staff. Alas, not close enough to me to shop there often, but the staff is impressive.

Never personally got care from them. However, they do not care about who owns their pets. They paid for my roommates cat’s hospital bills/surgery and never questioned his ability to take care of the cat.My roommate regularly left the litter box dirty and hardly ever refilled the water bowl. It essentially became my job to make sure the cat had water. There were also regular times where I had to feed the cat because he was hungry, and the owner did not tell me when he would come home. The smell of the litter box would get so bad, I would gag when I came home. He said he could not smell it, but he still had workingeyes to see when it was dirty. He was negligent. The people that cleaned it most often, or tell him he had to clean it, were me and my girlfriend. This place obviously does not care about who owns their cats or the cats they pay for.

Got my best buddy from Emerald City Pet Rescue. These people are amazing. Super friendly, and knowledgeable. After the adoption process, they called me a couple times that month just to check in and see how things were going. They take fantastic care of the animals in their rescue. The adoption process is kind of complicated but it’s worth it. Adoption fees are reasonable and they send your new fur baby home with tons of toys, treats and food. When I get another dog, Emerald City Pet Rescue will be my number one choice.

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers, a stay at home mom, a house and large fenced yard. We have a 7 year old well trained goldendoodle. We were looking for a second dog. We wanted a small dog as we knew our dog was great with small dogs. He has many small dog friends including a Schnauzer mix, a Boston Terrier and a Chihuahua. We filled out the paperwork, called references, made 3 visits, sent our dog's vaccination records and came back a third time with our dog. Our dog was fine with the 8 week old puppy. He pretty much laid on the ground and ignored the little puppy, but the 8 week old puppy was scared of our dog. Having had a large puppy, who was also afraid of adult dogs, I know this is natural for young puppies. The trainer came in and assessed our dog and the puppy and then told us that our dog was too big and could step on the puppy. I said, I could step on the puppy, I am big too. Why waste our time if you don't want to pair big and small dogs? Why get our families hopes up? The dog trainer didn't seem to know much about dog behavior at all. No wonder there are so many dogs bought through puppy mills if this is how you are treated when trying to adopt a dog into a good family.

I have worked across the street from here for three years. Decided to pop in for some cat food. Good selection, doing awesome work with the rescue, and Carter was super helpful and kind. You can tell these people love animals. This will be my new place to get kitty food!

Pretentious. Pretentious. Pretentious. One guy at the counter was nice and pretty helpful. The girl started grilling us like we were adopting a human baby. We're adopting a dog, they're pretty resilent creatures. Even though there were a few dogs there we liked I don't think we'd go back because of all the BS we'd have to deal with. You need to schedule an appointment at least a day in advance. You can't even view the dogs otherwise. I feel like their heart is in the right place but they are looking to give dogs only to helicopter parents.

I will keep it short and sweet: these are some of the most self righteous, pretentious, time wasters I have ever met. We spent several hours getting to know an adorable doggy but during the time we were treated like idiots and criminals. We waited three days only to find out that we didn't meet their precious requirements to adopt their world class dog.DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE OR ANY OTHER RESCUE SHELTER. Save yourself the time and the heartache and just adopt from the pound.

I called. Three girl in the phone was kind and compassionate. She took time to answer my questions and said we could go in to talk to them about it situation. I received good information. There are actually resources for low income pet owners. Choices. Not something available in the past. It was bad enough having an injured pet. But then when you can't take them to the emergency vet because you don't have the money. Then to add injury to insult by having the doctor tell you that you shouldn't have a pet if you can't a afford one. It was heart breaking. Today. Things are different. So yes. I have only good things to say about Emerald City Pet Rescue.

I adopted a female 10 year old cat in March. I was never shown any animals, just photos. I filled out lots of personal information and on another date had to drive an hour and a half to a vets to see the cat. Then did not get the cat for 2 days when they drove her 1.5 hours away to my home after they checked it out. I love the cat I received but I would have liked being able to view several cats and choose one myself.I have had my cat for 3.5 months and have paid $418.00 for treatment at a vet for ear problems related to built up ear wax and dirt. And was also told she needs $424.00 for dental work. Yet I was told when I was signing the paperwork for her that they give all rescued animals veterinary checkups and treatment to insure they are all healthy and that is the reason for the high cost of adoption.

I called to inquire about what services were available for my rescue horse who was deemed unsafe and dangerous by both veterinarians and multiple horse trainers. I admit, when I called I was feeling defense, angry, grief stricken and hopeless. After hearing Julie out, I told her truthfully I didnt feel this place isnt for my horse. I dont want ANYONE hurt. After all my horse has been through, she doesnt need more training and evaluations. I told them my decision to put my mare down and the response was screaming at me. Then messaged threats followed by harassment while I was dealing with putting her down as kindly as possible. Twhen julie and her cohorts found out I had put my horse down I received threats, accusations and even threats to protest at my place of work and home. There was no listening to the fact that I had multiple assessments over the 2 years I had my horse. This extreme reaction is not a good representative of this rescue or any rescue, especially when someone calls about an animal they know and love looking for alternatives to the advice of professionals to put down a loved animal. I couldn't find that alternative that I felt would be safe enough so no once else would be hurt. This place is probably one, if you are looking for help, look into deeper and dont be in a rush. This may not be the place for your animal either.

I applied to adopt a chihuahua that i had been bonding with since she was three weeks old(months of bonding). All my references checked out (one of which was the puppy's foster parent). I have a good, financially stable home with a partner/puppy co-parent, and i am self employed and can bring the dog to work--she would rarely be alone, if ever. At the meet and greet, i was told the dog "chose me" and told "congratulations on yr new puppy". I was told it was great that i had an emotional support animal pass, because i could bring her anywhere. I assured them that even though i'm in a band, we are in our mid thirties and dont tour often (but regardless, my partner would be there if i ever wasnt). I told them i would provide the finest pet insurance and create a dog area at my shop. We had already chosen a name, because we had received such positive encouragement from the interview lady on the phone, plus at the meet and greet.Four days later i was denied my little buddy for adoption because i had an emotional support animal pass (the same thing id been told twice was actually a good thing), and they were doubtful that a chihuahua puppy could "fulfill whatever my emotional needs were", even though i was just seeking a companion, and already knew the puppy for months. I'm devastated and i feel discriminated against for having an emotional support animal prescription, and also for being in a band. The lady stated that they were aware that i was in a "popular band" and that they generally deny people in touring bands. Even though we hardly tour. The process felt invasive and the rejection felt ignorant, cruel and unfeeling. I can't tell if they're trying to help dogs or exercise their own pretentious ability to deny pets to perfectly capable and loving homes. I will be sharing my story further in hopes of helping other good people to avoid needless heartbreak.Unprofessional, invasive, pretentious and cold. I will never work with them or recommend them again.

You can tell they care for the well-being of the dogs more than perusing adopters. You wouldn't put orphaned kids in a window shop, so why expect that for dogs. That said, we love our new friend we adopted from Emerald City.

After a certain time, finally got too meet Morgan who showed me a beautiful puppers names Skylar. Wow!, all I can say is this dog is VERY VERY energetic and very loving. I hope to get too bring him home on Tuesday. ECPR has awesome staff so I don't understand why there a couple of bad reviews, its why I give them 5 stars for there performance! :)

This facility is holding & raising animals instead of placing them into good homes. Read the reviews left by other potentional owners who have had the same experiences. Dogs are not meant to be raised and kept in shelters where they are constantly meeting other dogs and families but not being placed. One example is Olivia who has been there almost her entire life. Their screening process is very misleading and they do not follow their own examples. Horrible customer service & communication. The goal of the company is not being met because animals are being denied great homes & are remaining in pet imprisonment & marketing.

I cannot explain the gratitude I am feeling towards Emerald City. After calling upwards of fifty vets, shelters, veterinary schools (in my state and three surrounding), and rescues, I was blessed beyond measure to speak with and ultimately be helped by ECPR. I am the lucky owner of a very kind two year old mix (part mastiff) who desperately needed surgery on his knees. I had "the talk" with my four year old about doggy heaven last Tuesday, but now I am soo overjoyed that I can have the "there are still great people out there who want to help strangers" talk with her instead. Emerald city saved my dogs life and my family will always be in debt to their generosity and kindness.

Just about two weeks ago I contacted emerald city pet rescue because I was very interested in a cutie pup, named Olivia. I see she's still on the adoptable list as available. My experience with ecpr was very disappointing. The 1st call I had with them was very promising for which I described that my home & family love dogs very much & hoping for a chance to meet little Olivia.Few hours later ecpr called me back & said my home WOULD NOT be considered as approved by staff & owner, Viv to adopt Olivia. I was astonished! I asked why.Staff woman said that our outdoor dog kennel was NOT acceptable criteria. I said WHAT? Seriously? Then I was appalled!! Basically ecpr was telling me that I have to guarantee a dog in our home would not be left alone/unattended in outdoor kennel! I was, wow okay. We currently have a senior golden retriever at home that we rescued from Pierce Cty Humane Society & he's hardly ever in kennel b/c I am home 99%of the time.I hereby retract the one star for ecpr & I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this establishment for dog rescues.**a very dissatisfied dog lover**

Adopted a dog from emerald City rescue , their vetting process is very throrough, it can be a bit overwhelming but it makes me happy knowing they make sure their animals get the best forever homes. Their pet store has a good selection of leashes, treats, and toys. The staff is always super friendly and helpful :) I'd definitely reccomend to friends and family !
