Being pretty new to fish keeping, I visited Sierra several times over the past month with nothing but questions about tank cycling, fish compatibility, substrate, water chemistry…you name it. I found the staff incredibly helpful and patient in answering all of my questions. Everyone I spoke with was great but Alyssa was especially knowledgeable in helping me choose the right fish for my tank setup.No, you won’t find perfectly stocked and squared-off products on the shelves or polished floors. But it’s the slightly disorderly charm of the store that makes this place great. This is the sort of ma and pa shop full of experts and animal lovers that you are glad exists so you aren’t forced to shop solely at the Petcos of the world. Their selection of fish, plants, decorations and equipment FAR outweighs the box stores anyway. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

The staff was nice and helpful, great selection of fish, although the rabbit enclosure was filled w urine and feces and stunk BAD, we avoided that side of the store altogether because the reptiles were also very unkempt, meaning no fresh water it was slimy and green,very small dirty cages and reptiles seemed very agitated to say the least. The fish side was great though.

Edit to previous review: Great selection but take it with a grain of salt. A friend's plants he bought had snails on them, and I saw lots of sad Bettas. They also sell very small tanks that make me worry. Higher prices on everything, but you can put up with it to support your LFS. VERY knowledgeable employees!

I have been shopping at Sierra Fish & Pets for at least ten years.I went there today to buy crickets around 3:30 pm, which I purchase there about once a week. There is normally a friendly young person to help me but today there was no one to be seen.The store owner ???refused to call someone to help me. Instead, he rudely told me that there was no one available to help me so I would just have to wait until he was available. He helped several other customers on both registers with large orders before he finally got to me.I had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes; I felt like he was intentionally making me wait just because I had asked him if there was someone else who could help me.I have NEVER been show so much disrespect. Hope that isn’t how he treats other regular customers!

This had been the best store for finding everything that I have been wanting to set up my tank. They also had a great selection for taking care of your birds and small mammals. One of the things that I appreciated the most about this store was that it was kept very clean and organized.

Good quality fish. However when I came in to buy a hamster, the old lady that works there asked what my age was and I told her I was 18 at the time. She said she was asking cause they couldn't sell the pets to minors and I was okay with that question... but then she proceeded to ask me if I lived with my parents which was none of her business and was a question about my personal life... Refused to sell me the hamster that I wanted because I told her I lived with my parents. The hamsters were showing every sign of stress from the wheels being too small, to the lack of space, and no sand bath which is a terrible example to potential hamster owners. Fortunately this kid said he would ring me up and I saved this hamster....I eventually Came back in after doing more research for some sand because hamsters need sand to bathe themselves. The same lady tried to sell me chinchilla sand which can kill a hamster cause the fine sand gets in their lungs causing respiratory infection. They have great fish. However I do not recommend buying small mammals from here due to the lack of knowledge they have on them. Please do your research before you purchase a small pet from anywhere because they also lied to me about the hamsters age. The guys that work there are super friendly and honest. Great customer service from everyone except her.

This place has a great selection but it feels like you're in your weird aunt's filthy hoarder-house. There is stuff just stacked up all willy-nilly. If you looked hard enough you might find the original owner's body under a bale of rabbit bedding. I still love coming here though.

The store is awesome. Took one star off because they have a real grinch of an old lady for a cashier. The rest of the crew are awesome, but she is rude and abrasive for no reason. That's been our experience with her EVERY time.

I am disappointed in the care the bettas receive. A professional fish and aquarium supply store should have bettas in proper holding tanks, and give proper education for prospective owners. One gallon bowls shouldn't be an option for purchase with the bettas.Five gallons or more are required for this. Shame on Sierra Fish and Pets.

This is my new favorite place to get live rats for feeding my snake. All of the rats are available for browsing and picking out just the right one for your danger noodle.

I like this place! Staff are very friendly and helpful! I bought a bunny last month. This is my first time to raise baby rabbit. I felt exciting and nervous. Their staff gave me many professional advice, very patient! My bunny is very healthy now! Yay!

Love coming to this place to see the fish and the set ups I get my bearded dragon his crickets and super worms from here have got my two axolotls from here both big now got them as babies and other fish as well thanks guys 👍🏼

Great local pet and fish store. Family owned , Great selection of everything from toys for dogs and cats. Great selection of fish tanks. And Great selection of a lot of different kinds of fish, birds and reptiles.This is where I got my first snake from. She is doing great, have had her for about a year now.It's the only pet shop I'll go too.

Best local fish and pet store. It's not a Petco. Don't expect mediocre service. Educating customers on animal husbandry is their forte.

Cute place with support for all types of pets including birds, fogs, tarantulas, fresh and saltwater fish, rats, and mice. They have a good supply of feeder insects and prices seem comparable to other pet shops. Also have tons of variety on cat and dog items. And live plants for fish tanks.Staff was very nice and would check in occasionally. Narrow aisles just as an FYI if that makes you uncomfortable or plan to bring a child as they'd definitely need to be watched closely here.

Really sad to see rabbits and guinea pigs being kept together. It's fatal for the guinea pigs because rabbits naturally carry bordetella. I also saw the rabbits picking on the guinea pigs and they can't eat the same food.Fish tanks were very dirty rest of the store was very messy and unorganized. Some of the foods looked very old and possibly expired. I'mproper habitats for some. I'd only buy supplies here. But even with that your still supporting a business that doesn't care for the animals as well as they should. Would not recommend.

This pet shop was fantastic. The owner was ready to help with any questions and was knowledgeable about all the products they carried. Excellent selection of products for dogs, cats, fish, birds, tiny mammals, and other critters. Overall a great local shop with competitive prices and friendly and helpful staff.

Variery of pet goods. My go to for aquarium tanks. Sierra has several rimless tanks at reasonable prices.They host a pet adoption a couple times a month. If you're looking for a dog I suggest it.

This place is convenient for the Renton community. However the aquarium area could use a little work. The tanks seem on the dirty side and fish can be sick so be careful. However the prices are cheaper than most shops in the surrounding area.I would highly recommend going through the quarantine process at home if you buy fish from here.Overall they do a good job with room to improve.On the flip side, my wife often shops for dog stuff and will price check before buying. She often finds that things are priced higher here. However we will occasionally buy dispute higher prices to support local businesses or out of convenience.

Very crowded place! Customer service was excellent. Had water checked for my aquarium. Bought 10 Orange Sunkist Neocaridina's. All 10 made it home and still alive after a week 👍

This store has the best selection of fish and also the most knowledgeable staff. Not only do they have the best selection, but you don't have to worry about taking home a sick fish. They know what they are talking about and don't just try to make a sale. They will help you make good decisions for your aquarium!

My go-to place for my cat and snake needs. Their staff are incredibly insightful, they have good stock, and they have a store cat named Gizmo who is super cute! Definitely recommended for all pet needs (including exotics) ❤️

EVERYONE THAT WORKS HERE IS SO NICE AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLETalk about above and beyond customer service!!!! I’ve been here a handful of times but my most recent experience blew the rest out of the water!!I came in to buy an axolotl set up and baby Axo for my daughter, the gentleman in aquatics was more than helpful and was even nice to my overly excited toddler full of questions. The lizards and tarantulas and SCORPIONS were so unique and the staff in that department was so incredibly kind I was able to pull my car up and THEY LOADED MY FRIGGEN CAR FOR ME TOO 😩 🏼Top notch customer service guys, will be sending everyone here! Wow

We originally loved this place. Great selection of fish and plants.. However, we recently got a fish from them and that fish had velvet. We have currently lost 6 fish in our tank and they won't take responsibility for it. They say they never get velvet in their tank but then where did this come from? That fish was the only one we had added in over a month and it died within 4 days. Well never go here again.
