This station wasn't opened when I arrived despite Google showing them opened. COVID hours are different so call ahead. Reception here is scarce so plan ahead. The parking area does provide great access to the lake and trailhead for a shorter walk. The National Park passport stamp is located in the other office across the lake.

They were closed when we were there. Information was posted. The paved parking appeared to be available for free. It is posted no overnight parking.

This station was not open when I arrived (weekday, late March 2021) but looks like a great information hub for the outdoor enthusiast. Plenty of parking behind the building, off the road, just next to the lodge. Quinault is a beautiful area, well off the beaten path and worth a visit!Olympic Otter

Due to shortage of personnel they are.closing the ranger station a lot of the time. There are several trails in the area that are easy to do.

We just visited the Olympic Peninsula and decided to take the loop road around Lake Quinault and a side trip up Graves Creek. I understand that the area has had some flooding issues, however I cannot believe that the Forest Service has let the roads deteriorate so badly in this area. The Graves Creek road was absolutely horrible for being such a popular road. To say this road has a problem with potholes is an understatement and I can't believe the Forest Service views this as acceptable. I fully intended to mention it at one of the ranger stations however they were all closed, on a weekend, during the summer (hard to believe). The condition of these roads definitely put a damper on our trip around the lake.

The rangers at this station are very helpful! They quickly provided all the information needed for a great backpacking trip and answered all the questions I had about the area. Midweek (not necessarily the busy time) they were able to issue a permit and get me out the door for my hike very quickly (<10 minutes).

Stop by and get recommendations on things to do in the park. All the rangers were friendly and helpful. Be patient as there are lots of people coming in at all times of the day and you may have to wait some time before you get to speak with someone.

Access to the wilderness couldn't be easier or more friendly than at this joint National Park and Forest Service ranger station. And they've got the bear canisters you require so worth the visit for sure!
