For some reason, I presume because of thief. They only have one door open for customers. I would think that because of emergencies, they would need to have more than one door open for the whole store. They do not have any other emergency exits close to the closed doors. I do not understand why they believe that will deter shoplifting. Since no one is allowed to stop them from stealing, how does a door locked and blocked prevent theft? The employees that I have met are all super nice and helpful. I don't blame the employees, this is a bad decision by the management. Hopefully nothing happens to the customers if they have a fire or other type of emergency that would require people to leave the store quickly.

Safeway needs to seriously get on their quality control. Different Safeway same problems. Turkey club and they don’t have the Aoile that it’s supposed to have on it. Take it off the menu if you’re employee’s are to lazy to make it. Bacon cold, the lettuce that is not on the recipe wilted, bread a bit stale. The lady making the sandwich taking 25 min who clearly doesn’t want to be there but I get it, too old to be making sandwiches. Still don’t take it out on the customers.

This used to be my family's favorite store. Where are all the checkers? I can understand self check out for a couple of items but to expect people to check out a cart full is ridiculous! I feel bad for the elderly folks trying to scan and bag, with no help in sight. Today there was only 1 checker and a line down the isle.Do better Safeway, even Walmart has more then one checker.

I tried to address this by private message but I'm still dealing with an issue with Safeway and the manager they got me in contact with isn't doing anything to resolve the problem.The Safeway located on 11501 Canyon Rd E, Puyallup, WA 98373 allows their employees to smoke right by the entrance / exit. I'm a veteran who was exposed to burn pits in Iraq. I have lung issues that make it difficult to breath around smoke.This specific Safeway closed all their entrances but one. This is the only way to get in and out of their store. Their employees don't have to smoke there. There is another designated smoking spot away from customers, but they choose this one because it's close and they're lazy.These employees are inconsiderate. They don't care if you have asthma or other lung issues. I've seen them smoking right as kids are coming in and out.Their store director Michael Lent sent this email,"I have and addressed this with my staff and was unaware that this was continuing to happen. I will readdress with all my employees to make sure they are in the designated smoking spots."I tried to contact him again to let him know that his employees continue to smoke near the customer entrance, but he doesn't seem to care and hasn't responded. My next email is to the health department because smoking this close to an entrance / exit is against the law in Washington State.

Update 12/18/23: this safeway is failing its customers...one register open, a line of 6 people, and practically NO ONE in line at self checkout. This safeway has had issues in the past only having self checkout available and zero lines with real chekers. People do not want to self check their own goods...we don't work at safeway and a lot of us have too many items to self check...PLEASE do your customers a favor and open more real person check stands!

Safeway is going downhill. I'm out of fuel and have ran myself to the "can't go any further" point trying to get a better deal from Safeway. Got here to buy fuel, had to wait in line for an exceptionally long time being rush hour on a Friday and when I finally got to the pump I was screwed. I only had cash to buy fuel and Safeway, during rush hours on a Friday doesn't see the need to have an employee actually working on site. Safeway is trying hard to loose me as a customer of 50 years now.

Rushed over and took 20 minutes to get here on an unexpected store run. About to locate one of the three small items I needed when I am approached directly by an employee stating that I 'need to either grab what I need right this second or leave the store.' This interaction immediately followed an announcement over the store intercom that there are just 10 minutes left before the store is closed.Not typically coming in so late, but the whole attitude of the employee was rude enough that I just left. Great customer service Safeway. Nice.

As usual safeway treats me well! But I'm telling you though I'm loyal to Safeway they could do a better job on competitive pricing and inventory availability. Depending on the neighborhood I find these things very which begs a question or two. Ever Fred's attempt to buy them they seem on hold. I see after Albertsons was acquired it became so fun gown. It's sad. All the people they lost jobs but the customers they serve were cheated too in the name of corporate greed and shareholders profits.

2024 Update: I’ve noticed an influx of people bringing their pets in, large and small dogs in carts and around the meat/deli areas. I’m very reluctant to shop there due to safety concerns for myself and my service dog as well as food contamination from dogs around these spaces since service dogs are expected per the ADA to be well mannered, clean and under control, which the pets here often aren’t.Overall well organized and clean in the times I’ve been there however employees and people who are associated with the store need to work on how they interact with service dogs. Multiple workers have tried talking to or even tried to touch my service dog so other handlers be aware of this if you go inside.

The store itself is good. So why 2 stars? Because of their drive up and go. I am a Doordasher. I went to pick up an order and the clerk was so rude. When asking “Michelle” about it, she very rudely snapped, it was canceled when I went to get it this morning. My cousin even placed an order (not through 3rd party) and when she went to get it guess who the clerk was? Rude, snippy Michelle. Watch out for her. She’s very snippy and rude

The best grocery store bakery ever! I drove to 3 Safeway’s looking for this particular one. Sooo many compliments on the cake at my 2 year olds birthday party and the price was unbelievable! Thank you so much again Ms. Mabel!

This is by far the cleanest nicest Safeway in Puyallup. The young man who helped me today in the deli was so courteous so helpful. I want to thank him. When I checked out at the self check the little Gal There is so friendly. She has a beautiful hello and goodbye. The store is so clean.

Only one door open, and it's narrow, causing a jam up. They also barely have any of the smaller carts. I rarely go to this location because of how bad it is. Since Albertsons owns it, they should just close it down.

This Safeway deli moves at the speed of slow. I’ve worked customer service. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. But some people working here move so slow it’s like they’re trying to get fired. And the daytime manager clearly hates her job as every time I see her working, she’s complaining about opening up boxes. Don’t waste your lunchtime here. We’re talking 5-7 minutes per order of sliced meat. And that’s after waiting in line for 10 minutes. Brutal.

Unfortunately this Safeway is not the greatest to shop at. They only have one entrance opened and I’ve stopped multiple times when there are no carts or hand baskets available to use while shopping. The store itself was not overly busy at the time so, where their carts are is a bit of a mystery. This caused me to leave the store and shop elsewhere. Staff are friendly but either corporate or management doesn’t care to provide the necessary equipment for the store to be successful.

I've had a day at home, going grocery shopping sometimes can be my way of talking to another human even if it's just for a couple minutes while they ring up my groceries. However, if you go to the Safeway at 9 PM, there's nobody working those registers. Yes I should've flat out. Asked the lady will you ring me up and I didn't, next time I will if I end up going back, but I did say to her, is there anybody working the registers? I don't know how to ring up my bananas and she took that to mean oh let me show you even thought I could care less. And I'm thinking "no, I don't want you to show me, I want you to do it for me, so I can sit here and say mindless small talk while you do your job, cuz I don't work here, you do!" I put them on the conveyor belt and then you do the rest then I pay ...what's wrong with that system? You guys are so fricken money hungry. You are also the most expensive grocery store in the area. The more I think about it I hate Safeways. The only thing that Safeway has over Fred Meyer is the bakery, that's it tho; other than that, you guys suck!!I left my whole cart in the self checkout so you could then actually do some work and have to put back those groceries, hopefully the frozen stuff didn't melt!This is for the owner….Let me just add one thing to this; please don’t respond to this and tell me that I have to do yet another thing myself when IT’S YOUR JOB!! . You go to your website and and contact the Director, this is totally on you not the customers!

Wish I could rate a 0 star for tonight , came to grab some chicken around 5pm wasn’t much in the case so I asked do you even have an 8 piece in there ? Young white kid behind the counter says yes we do and starts bagging it up , i wasn’t really paying attention to the pieces he was grabbing as I was looking down picking out some rolls from in front of the hot case to go with my chicken.. I get home crack the bag open and the chicken is literally so old and nasty the bones poked straight thru the soggy nasty breast , then I get to the legs as my children only like the legs and it’s literally a bone in the bag with the chicken all off the bone at the bottom of the bag .. AT 5pm that’s pretty unacceptable he should have just said no everything left in this hot case is disgusting and saved me and children the ruined dinner thanks Safeway 🙏

Stopped for gas. .50 cents less then most places. Ran in for coffee but.... Good sale prices turned into a lot more. Friendly staff. So much better than the RUDE person at Albertsons on canyon the week before. The folks there all smiles, kind made sure I had what I needed. Upselled me into buying a lunch there instead of stopping at a fast food place. Was a wonderful salad and sandwich. Better price too.

Just like all the other Safeways. A good place to shop if things are on sale but can be rather expensive. They have good pop sales sometime. Buy 2 and get 2 free but those are usually like $6 for a 6 pack of bottles, so it's like 4 for $12. So $3 a piece. So, without the sale, would not buy them there. But the store is always clean and the employees are always very nice and helpful. Always enjoy shopping here and finding the sales.

A bit larger than most Safeway; decent selection of fruit, lately do inspect more closely as quality hasn't been the greatest as in some fruit has shown signs of mold which is not god quality to buy. Staff is friendly for most part, catch most of everything on sale and save a much as you can. Customer service is upfront and accessible, deli, starbucks inside, plus fuel station. Very busy at times. Always remember to bring your own bag to avoid being charged a fee for a bag. Other than that its your typical safeway grocery store.

First time shopping at the Safeway.They had most of the stuff I was shopping for stuff that they did not have they were out of stock.The aisles were nice and wide stores was clean shelves were stock properly with labels facing out makes it a lot easier to find what you're looking for. Cashiers were polite and very friendly overall enjoy shopping at the Safeway. No I haven't changed any still a great store big store not busy and everything I was looking for but a couple things other than that a good store to shop at

Safeway has been and always probably will be my favorite grocer. Their meats are top notch their produce is second to none their customer service is top of the line their app is fantastic at discounts and u love the rewards can’t be beat thanks so much Safeway

I am so tired of this store not opening all their doors. Everyone tries to park by the main door. One door open there. People coming in at out through the same door. Is that really stopping people from stealing? The only Safeway around that does this. Do you think Albertsons had less theft? All there doors are open.

Love this Safeway, very close to home and they have almost all your grocery needs.Only downside is sometimes their lanes for checkout are crazy long and go back down the aisles. But the cashiers try their best to get them moving quickly and are usually very pleasant to interact with! The employees here are some of the nicest I've had the pleasure of interacting with compared to most stores.
