As for their meat counter they have some good products. But they should not advertise that they do slaughtering we tried since October to get someone to come out to our house to take two of our cows, they kept putting us off, saying it will be another couple weeks..It’ll be another couple weeks but four months past by. Finally we were referred to another place by a friend of ours and this place came out within a week, even the professionalism and organization of this place was very impressive. So if you have cows to slaughter, do not bother calling Farmer George or your cows will be way past the slaughtering time frame as ours was.

Can we give it zero stars? We bought some of the sweet and smokey beef sticks and the beef pepperoni for our office. By far the worst commercial smokehouse meats we have ever had. Not a single person liked or enjoyed either of these products.

Dropped off grind for sausage. Was told 1-2 weeks. Took over a month and even then only found out it was ready when I called them. Packages were saran wrapped and we're not consistent shape or size. 10 packages were damaged and on three they cut part off and gave me the smaller pieces. Very disappointed given the primary good reviews. Won't be back.

Excellent slaughtering service, very clean and good cutting and wrapping at a very competitive price. Could not ask for better service and knowledge when it comes to aging beef and everything else that goes along with quality meat processing. All of my beef customers are pleased with finished product, highly recommend.

Do you like meat? If you don't buy it here, you probably don't! This is the best beef in the PNW. Hands down, and pound for pound best beef in town!

Been going here for a while. I really love the raw dog food, the fresh meat for my family, and how helpful they are.

The best place for beef. Lots of exotic cuts, game, sausages and so forth. But the beef is fantastic. Go on Friday or Saturday. Splurge on a tenderloin. You deserve it.

After my first and second visit here I need to give my thoughts. 2nd visit. I wanted a WHOLE pork shoulder which on my first visit was assured they would have next weekend. So I asked for a whole shoulder. It was obvious when produced it was not. It was the butt end taken from a vacumn sealed bag of two. After convincing them that when I said WHOLE sholder I meant WHOLE shoulder. For those unfamiliar a whole shoulder consists of the butt end and pinic ham. They then said they could special order one for next weekend. I was smoking this the next day. So I purchased the butt. I was happy with the cook. It was good but not great. I had asked them the type of pork. I.e. Berkshire etc. They said just what ever the local farms they purchase from grow. I began wondering later if this was locally sourced, would it be vacumn packaged in sets of two? Perhaps but seems like they may get it from regular pork wholesalers.Second issue. I also purchased two one pound packages of their Lean Grass Fed ground beef. FDA says lean needs to be at least 90% lean. I fried up 3 burgers from one of the one pound packages. Although hard to really see in the photo, that is a lot of grease/fat for one pound of ground beef. I normaly buy either 90 or 93 percent ground beef from other places. Never have anything like this amount of fat.Third issue. The meat is weighed at checkout. The two came to 2.02 pounds. Weighing on my very accurate digital scale at home they came to 2.02. Ok what about the packaging? When removed and weighed the double wrapped wrapping from one package weighs 0.5 oz. So perhaps then a full ounce for both packages? They need to tare the packaging. Perhaps this even violates state rules?Forth issue. One the first visit April 13th I purchesed package of Potato Sausage. I now see the dates on the label. Looks like it has been in the freezer for over three months. Seems too long. I will update after I cook this later this week.

Bought some beef rope sausage, thawed it immediately, cooked it in steamer followed up in cask iron skillet to brown/ scored the link, got it to beef welldone temperature (flipped in skillet), ate most and got food poisoning. Both ends!I guess there is little quality control. Label seemed old. I guess U gotta use a magnifying glass to discern expired dates!Be aware!Dog fud was better...so my dogs say...

Great customer service. Just like the old butcher shops I remember as a kid growing up in Oregon. It is amazing the variety of meats they sell here. They also have a huge assortment of bones and chews that my dog loves - at very reasonable prices. I also appreciate the fact that this business greatly supports the youth farming program, 4-H! Thank you!

Autumn and Neeve were incredibly helpful. This was my first time buying a roasting pig and I was unaware of the size requirements for the amount of people I was feeding until after I placed an order. They were able to change it for no extra charge. Customer service was outstanding. Will never buy from anywhere but here and I recommend the same to you.

Dropped off a deer and a cougar for processing. Was told by several employees that I would be able to put them on the same order so I would not have to pay 2 minimum fees. Next thing i know they hit me with $140 for a whopping 35 lbs of cougar meat and $130 for the deer. The. When I received the meat the pork fat that was supposed to be 20% mixed was maybe 5-10 in some batches where the rest were 30-40% the meat looked terrible in the packages. They ruined my deer. I bring meat here almost every year simply because they are usually fair on price however, this is the last time I will ever go there again. The sad thing is when i picked up the meat, they even said I was right that they did tell me I could group the 2 animals but yet they did nothing about it but say sorry for the mistake and still made me pay for meeting the minimum. Next year I am processing my own meat, this way i will ensure they don't take half of my meat like they did. This time. Such a terrible company!! Avoid at all costs!!!

I was about to make my first pork belly dish, only to discover before I was started putting my mise en place in place that I'd left the fresh, thawed pork belly in the fridge at least two too many days. Farmer George's is the only place in town I know of that sells unsliced pork belly and I hurried over there. On this visit, I was acknowledged fairly quickly by a lady behind the counter, which I appreciated. I had already seen pork belly in the meat case and told her how much I needed, and that's how much she cut.So, Farmer George's saved dinner (the stir-fry dish turned out great) but although the lady was friendly, to provide better customer service she should have asked me if I wanted the skin removed. And since this was my first time buying pork belly from a butcher, I didn't know to ask since the pork belly that went bad had been bought fully trimmed. When I opened the package at home, the pork skin had nipples of one side and a layer of skin on the other side. I trimmed it all off as best as I could figure out. Only today did I look at videos which taught me how it could have been done more efficiently. So, that lapse in customer service earns Farmer George 3 stars, which is a higher rating than I gave them in my first review. But I'm more willing to visit them again to check out their other meats, like their popular skirt steak--a beef cut I dearly love.

Best meat around! Best sausage, best burger, and absolutely the best pork steaks. I love this butcher shop! Since I have started coming here 3 months ago, I havent wanted to buy regular grocery store meat. They have great prices, excellent quality, and good customer service-they are helpful. And I cant forget to mention the meat packs and great selection of packs available.

Fresh Cut Meats on Friday and Saturday but we bought 3 Chuck Roasts that were not frozen. If they taste as good as they look they will be wonderful. I also bought a package of frog legs!😊

I love Farmer George Meats they have alot of great things there. There has only been one or two items that I didn't like. The customer service is very friendly. The prices are sometimes a little high but its justified by the quality. Every now and then you may have to wait a few days for a specific order to be cut, its worth the wait. They make the best summer sausage. I feel fortunate to have Farmer Georges in Port Orchard. Its my favorite butcher shop.

Every year for the past 20 years I buy a 1/4 of a grass fed beef. So I know what the meat s/b like, always the same, for the most part. In 2018 the person I buy from started using Farmer Georges. In 2018 my hamburger looked normal, dark red, grass fed meat is not normally too fatty. This year, 2019, hamburger is very pink, very greasy when cooked, cooks into a very fine, strange texture. It is very poor quality. The other meat from the cow is absolutely delicious, roasts are good and not overly fatty. The company assured me no pink slime is added, and offered to trade some of my meat for what they sell at the shop. That meat is not any better.I am in the process of getting a lab to test the meat. I will post the results if it does have additives.

When moving to Port Orchard last year, I found Farmer George's shop. I have special needs as I have leukemia and need only grass fed/ grain fed meats. My health in the last year has improved eating the meat from Farmer George's. My iron levels and immune system have strengthened and my doctors love that my body is getting stronger. My animals eat their meat, and now my extended family in Seattle also eats their meat. I will never buy meat in a supermarket again. Their selection is top shelf, their spices are fresh and aromatic. They even carry local honey which is necessary to fight allergy season which seems to go all year long. I am thankful to have this market so close, and accessible 7 days a week.

I will not go back and I can't recommend this business. I ordered a half pig, was told that the fresh meat would be ready that Friday and the smoked meat 2 weeks later. The following Friday ( 1 week after it was due) I called to find out were my meat was. I was told that I could pick it up on Monday. When I asked the guy why it was 1.5 weeks late, he rudely informed me that they don't have pigs ready. That Monday when I picked up the meat they didn't even have it ready for me. When I asked about the smoked meat I was told I would have to wait until 2 weeks from that day.2 weeks later I called to find out about my smoked meat but the lady couldn't find my order. She said that she would call me back, but didn't, I had to call her back. She still couldn't find the order and said that she would have to call back the next day because she was the only one in the store. The next day she called back, leaving me a message that I could pick up the smoked meat on Wednesday or Thursday. This was 2.5 weeks after I was last told that it would be 2 weeks. At least I finally got a call from them.If I didn't keep bugging them, I feel that I would still be waiting for my meat. When my wife picked up the smoked meat, she wasn't offered a discount or any extra meats to make up for the issues. We never did get any pork loin, cottage bacon, or ground pork which makes me wonder which cuts they kept and how much they skimmed.I'm just glad that I didn't order half a cow like we were planning on. I'll be looking for a more trustworthy meat butcher that cares about their customers.

Love this place. Great selection of smoked foods and their bacon is amazing and natural. Their cottage bacon is also fantastic! I bought venison shoulder from here recently and smoked it for awhile then cooked it in the crock pot. It turned out great.

Super friendly family business. Fantastic selection of various cuts of meats including Elk and Bison. It was explained that their beef, lamb, pork and chicken is raised on their own farm just outside of Port Orchard. Once described I realized their farm is only 5 minutes away from our house, or about as close as Fred Meyer or QFC - Hyper local. If you're looking for boutique cuts of meat or want to feed your smoker the cuts you see on food network shows then give this place a shot. They also said they get exotic meat like frogs legs and Python.

Purchased Goats milk and Elk JerkyRaw goats milk from Left Foot farm 11.99 for half gallon. If you want fresh, home grown quality meat than this is the place to go. They have alligator, camel, frog legs, beef,Turkey and much more. The building could use a little tlc and inside updating could be done to make it more esthetically pleasing to encourage more shopping .

So glad the tornado spared them. The meat is spectacular, and the prices are similar to the very-questionable stuff across the street. I asked for a Chuck Eye & she had the guy cut me off something that looked more like a Rib Eye. Like just chopped it off the dead cow right there. Staff is completely professional and fun. (Picture a deadpan version of the Pike Place Fish Store. No joking around when they are wielding giant knives.)Eating a fine elk-burger right now.

Great deals. I've been looking everywhere for decent priced bones and pig ears for our dog! Only $1.99 per bag of ears and 89 cents per pound of knuckle bones. Cool little butcher shop 🍖

We used to buy meats from the grocery store but that started getting really pricey for meat that was not worth it... So we tried some steaks from here, a T-bone and NY Strip. They practically melted in our mouths. The flavor was phenomenal. So many options here too. We now only go here for our beef.

Went to Georges, they had an excellent selection of Meats, Picked up some Buffalo Steaks (awesome) Beef Bacon (delicious) FireWeed Honey (makes me Jaded about other Honey's), and picked up some bones for the pup. All in all very knowledgeable staff and very clean, with good fresh products. Farmer Georges have earned themselves some Regulars.
