Service was a 3 since they checked us in and out. No other service provided. Location is in Packwood so it’s close to the mountain. I’m not sure how this place gets consistently good reviews for cleanliness. The corner of the drywall is chipping off. The white sheets had a brown stain right at the top near our faces and there was a sock next to the bed when we checked in. The bathroom mirror had streaks all over it and the toilet has to be flushed multiple times to get any toilet paper down.Glad to be checking out and will not be returning.Rooms: Not clean

These people are so nice, so accommodating. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. I am picky about linens . The lodge has really comfortable beds, pillows and nicevlinens. Fine place to stay and a great location.Nearby activities: Close to Packwood...walkable. and love the elk that hangout in the field surrounding the lodge

I had a pretty good time staying here for a couple nights as it’s really quiet here and the check in process is pretty easy! The rooms were comfortable and there are food options around here! The gas station across is the best! Make sure to bring cash as some locations in town only accept cash! I have no complaints with this hotel as I highly recommend it when visiting Mt. Rainier! Look out for elk in the back!

Stayed here a couple times. Hotel is nice, rooms are nice. Packwood is a cool town. The man at the front desk is very rude however. Literally yelled at me in the lobby because I asked for my receipts to be emailed to me. I don't know if this guy is the owner but beware if you go here and the big guy is behind the desk, you're gonna have a bad time.I had to call today to make a correction on a payment for my stay last week. Again yelled at me over the phone. He seems very unhappy with his life.

Literal life saver! We struck out on our VRBO after arriving late and finding many spiders, we knew we would not be able to sleep. We were scrambling for a place to stay after 10 pm, called, and we lucked out. Great after hours service to set us up in a room, which was very clean, spider free, had a mini fridge with freezer, and 2 sinks! We are so grateful for the room, the wonderful conversation in the morning while packing up, and the gifted flyswatter for any future spider encounters. Thank you so much!

The rooms were tidy, but the beds were not too comfortable. The check-in process was a bit unusual, as the person assisting us seemed to be having an off day. He wasn't very welcoming and didn't offer much help when we had questions. Overall, it was a step up from tent camping, but not by much. Perhaps we will try it again in the future, hoping for better service.

Shabby place. The bed sheets were clean, and the rooms didn't smell. But that's it!Our bathroom door was hardly closing, and couldn't be locked.Things in the room and around were cracked. The picnic table outside our room was dirty, we had to clean it ourself. And no breakfast served in this culinary desert.

It was a great experience when we stayed in there. I am a person who pays attention to hygiene. The room cleaner do very nice job here, which makes a deep impression on me. There is a second sink to save time for those who are in a hurry to travel in the morning. The bed is comfortable and has enough size. From the back window, we saw the deer in the big grass outside the fence. The lobby is interesting, and various decorations record the history of this area. I will come again next time.

Welcome to loserville, Pop: Cowlitz river lodge.. We've been staying here every labor day weekend for years. We look forward to it all year. The previous owner was wonderful and all about customer service. The new owner...Not so much. This year we arrive and right off the bat were told they no longer serve breakfast ( which wouldn't be so bad if the new owners hadn't jacked up the price almost $80.00 a night. Then we find out starting next year you can no longer get a room for one night, there will be a 3 night minimum..at $230 a night.Still claims it's $166 a night onlline..not true. Hopefully their greed doesn't drive them out of business, or maybe hopefully it does...Judging from a lot of the reviews, it's the general consensus..

We have stayed at the lodge many times before but the new ownership is not service orientated. Elimination of the Continental breakfast........ no more...The room is very minimal decorated even the pictures are off the wall and the holes from the hangers are still there. No hairdryer in the bathroom but the holder is still on the wall. You will receive a bar of soap the size of a silver dollar. Better bring all your owen stuff.Unfriendly front office staff. I don't think it will be our stop again.

No more breakfast--no matter what your booking site or Google tells you. There hasn't been breakfast since September 2022. Greedy new owners have had plenty of time to update their profiles on Google and elsewhere but they haven't. They charge the same rates and you probably won't know you're not getting breakfast until you check in. I've been staying here for years averaging twice a year. I go to visit family. These business choices have lost my loyalty.

Good: Staffs are friendly. Lobby setup is convenient and offer free popcorn. Elks come to the backyard every morning and evening. Room is good size.Bad: WiFi is extremely unstable. Hair dryer intake is covered with thick layer of dirt. Coffee machine is dirty. Bedsheet has previous guest's hair. Quilt is not fully dried, still with moisture. For over $200/night hotel, I expected better than this.

We stayed here two nights when visiting Rainier. Loved the place. They provide a good breakfast. I only wish they’ll let you pack some of it if you need to leave before 7am. Would recommend this place!

Very nice and cozy place to stay if you are visiting Mount Rainier area. The rooms were nice and clean. We were greeted well at the reception and offered coffee and popcorn as well. The scenery is also good from here so you can spend a quite evening in the lawn area. Gas station is right across the street which is open 24*7 and has some options for food in case you come back late. Really liked the vibe of the place. We also spotted some Elks sitting in the lawn. Definetly recommended!

Walking in the door and approaching the front desk was a bit of a bad vibe. We were not greeted in a friendly manner at all and I get the feeling it was because we were wearing masks. They actually have a sign on the door that says masks are mandated in Washington, but it’s your choice to wear one or not. This is simply NOT true as masks are mandated in the state. The lobby is on the small size, but very nice. The complimentary popcorn was not that good. The breakfast room was very small and a sign stated that the health department is asking people to take their food back to their room because of social distancing violations. The breakfast was adequate. As someone else stated, this is not a lodge. It’s a motel with outside doors and the second floor rooms must maneuver outside stairs. Our room had comfortable beds and there is a second sink outside the bathroom which is nice. Our sink outside the bathroom had an ice cream bucket under it that was half full of dripping water. The bathroom light fixture was missing one of the (4) lightbulbs. The TV should have been bigger for the size of the room. The room furniture was adequate and I did like the fact that the refrigerator had a top freezer. This comes in handy to put our freezer packs for the cooler. The back window and screen were very dirty and the window sill needs replacement or varnish. The carpet is ready for cleaning or replacing. Overall, the room could be a lot sharper.I can overlook some things if the staff is nice and accommodating. Obviously, we did NOT meet Cindy.

This place met our needs and we will be coming back, but don't expect too much. We (wife and kids) stopped by here after hiking through the mountains and spending the weekend with nature. The room seemed clean, but don't look at anything too close because there was a layer of dirt on all low touch surfaces like the coffee maker, TV and lamps (minus 1 stars). Walking up to the room is not the most welcoming as light fixtures were covered in years of dead bugs. (minus 1 star). Beds were nice and room included a mini fridge.Mountain view from the front is nice. The view of the battered barbed wire fence and motor homes in the back was a nice touch (minus 1 star). They could address this with a wood fence and planting some trees and shrubbery.

Low budget. Not close to Mount Rainier. No where to eat or drink except one bar and a coffee shop and a truck stop. No elk on the lawn and front desk was unpleasant, grumpy and NOT helpful. Free breakfast was terrible, fake eggs, weird sasuage. Location was also within 10 miles of major Goat Rocks forrest fire. Whole area smelled like burning trees. Stay in Ashford or in the park itself. Room was clean but there was no view of anything except grass

We enjoyed our stay at Cowlitz River Lodge. The room was big enough to move around, very clean and wine every night in the lobby between 6-9. Quaint lobby and very nice folks at the desk. Would have give 5 stars except the room had a queen bed. Location was perfect to visit both Mt St Helen and Mt Rainier. There was much room for a king bed which would have fit nicely. Thank you and we will be back!

Very clean comfortable rooms for our family of four. Nice soaps, shampoo, lotion and facial wipes. There was a Keurig coffee maker with service for four and ceramic cups. The room also had a microwave and mini fridge. The extra vanity outside of the main bathroom was a bonus with a family of four. The breakfast was very good and the lodge was decorated in mountain decor and was really cozy. The beds are a little firm but the pillows and bedding were very comfy.

Fantastic location outside the park. Good proximity to restaurants and groceries. Room was clean with nice furnishings and a great bed. Breakfast was good. Complimentary wine time was a nice and unexpected touch. Hotel staff was kind and helpful. Would highly recommend. Looking forward to our next stay.

We checked in late night and found the toilet seat littered with urine!! Didn't find anyone for help. Since we had to use the toilet, cleaned it ourselves. Next day when I showed the photo of the toilet seat to the lady at the desk, I was promised a partial refund. But after multiple follow ups, I was told the management didn't believe the photo was authentic and that there wouldn't be any refund provided. So very unprofessional!!Breakfast arrangement was chaotic- no Covid protocols in place. Not fit for family stay.
