Great spot for all your sporting goods needs, with an excellent selection and good prices. Heavily recommend going here for shoes, underrated spot for it. Big selection and better prices than most other places. They also have great ammo prices and a great firearms selection. The staff behind the gun counter are fun and helpful, and the ladies at the front register are just the same. Great spot.

Love this store!! The lady helping me with the boots was awesome too…. So much cool stuff, recently purchased a pair of Danner boots, little pricey but so worth the money. Went in for the Georgia boots, but fell in love with the Danners. Staff at the register are just as great very friendly store personnel.

Super great people! I found a gift card with no info on it. I brought it in, it was so old (2016) they had pull out an old book and look through it manually. BOOM it had $50 bucks on it and they honored it! What a fantastic way to keep your client happy. I spent the money a walked out with a smile 😃

Although we've gone in a couple of times and the store was out of stock on items we wanted to purchase, we've always had great interactions with the staff. They are exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable. We've purchased ammo, guns, and miscellaneous other items, and the prices are decent, so we will keep going back.

Great store. Staff is friendly and they have a decent selection. Parking lot is small but it’s a small town and one should expect that. If you’re in or passing through orting stop in and check them out.

BEST, local, small-business outdoor store in Pierce County, hands down! The people are always warm, inviting, and helpful, and there are tons of high-quality products, both locally made as well as nationwide name brands.

Stopped in to see what was available. They had every outdoor activity covered. If you forgot something when you left home, a starting a new activity or just looking to find tune your experience, I'd say they have the merchandise. We found a collapsible walking stick with a flat nib and a hidden ice nib. The handgrip was covering a thread so it can be used as a monopod for cameras.

Date is 10/27/2023 calling in the store around 4:55pm to look for an item. Women answer the phone and I explained what I was looking for and asked her to look for it to see if the store has availability. She puts me on hold for over 30 mins. She clearly just let me sit there and wait for nothing. If you hire employee like this, you will expect to lose customer. Just don’t complain when you shut down over Amazon better and faster service. Will never use ship there for wasting 30 mins of my life which I will never get back.

Decent stuff but ended up leaving with nothing because the place is so packed, couldn’t even get a single stroller down the isles to look at what I came for, then had stuff falling off the top of the shelf hitting me in the head because it was so packed.

This is a particularly nice store for outdoorsman and women. Situated in the old town across from the park it has a very wide selection of goods from high quality clothing to fire arms. Great place to shop for work ware. I like it!

Let's call this a long term review of Big J's stellar customer service.In 2018 I purchased a firearm from them, the transaction was smooth and they were friendly, that alone warrants the five star review.Today, they earned way more than 5 stars. I called them in need of a receipt for the purchase I made 5 years ago. They could have easily said "Sorry, that's not something we can do.", hung up on me, and I would have fully understood.Instead, they asked me for a ballpark date of purchase and sent me the receipt they had on file within minutes of my phone call. So, to clarify, they stopped what they were doing to go dig through their records for a customer from 5 years ago.What an incredible store, with incredible staff. Thank you!

Best selection of lures and hooks I've seen anywhere in Pierce County! Body armor in stock. Excellent selection for a small town store, I was extremely impressed. I literally went in for one item(the gamakatsu hooks in the picture) and obviously left with more.

It's been a month. AND I'M STILL PISSED!July 3, 2023 I went in to big j's to purchase ammo and see if any guns interest me. A customer was at the gun counter chatting with the clerk who has the heavy accent about future purchases, so the dark haired lady was kind enough to help me. 20 minutes later, I had 3 boxes of 338 Win. Mag, and 2 boxes of 300 Win. Mag totaling $450.00. Though she helped a lot she couldn't answer all my questions so I waited to talk to the gun sales clerk. After another 20 minutes some old timer who apparently knew the system, walked right up next to the current customer who had already been there over 40 minutes, and all three of them started chatting. The clerk with the heavy accent then looks at me and asked “Why are you here?” “To look at guns” I said, and he proceeded to tap away on his computer helping the guy who just walked in, completely ignoring me. I had been waiting patiently. My time is valuable to me, and the longer I wait, the more valuable my time becomes. Now I'm not a mind reader. Mental telepathy is not my superpower. The force is NOT strong with me. If he doesn't communicate to me, how am I suppose to know how long he's going to be with the new guy, even though I'd been waiting there. I walked out without the ammo I had picked out and purchased it elsewhere. Along with 2 boxes of 22 Hornet and 2 boxes of 280 Rem. I WON'T BE BACK!!

Great selection of hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor goods. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and seem to be a great team. I like how they have a knife sharpener in their store as well!Highly recommend for work wear browsing or anything associated with outdoor activity. I was most impressed that this is a feel good store with a family atmosphere to it. The store is a well stocked sporting goods store and I felt had knowledgeable staff. I bought a few items and enjoyed myself browsing. It is was a small step back to better times where trust seemed more valued. My hope is this store prospers, so many businesses are closing now days due to Covid and politics. Best wishes
