I originally gave this place a low rating because I kept getting expired or rotten food from the produce, but something changed recently and the store looks great. Cleaner, more organized and seemingly better stocked. I wish the two stores in this town could get their cooling/freezer units fixed, they both seem to have issues with frozen foods still. But I see them improving so much. Recently the store looks great, cleaner and I've had less issues with produce and expired goods.

Good prices on the tilimook cheese and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The donuts and fritters looked really good and at $1.19 each is a good price. My husband is a conisiuer on apple fritters, I asked Danny if they had lots of apple in them and he said yes so I bought 6. Sorry Danny to say, not one chunk of apple in them. Just dough and sugar. The outside is crispy and the inside nice, not too doughy, just the right texture. I would have given 5 stars had there been apple in them. My friend bought a 1.75 bottle of vodka for $10 plus $4.00 tax. Not sure of the brand. Prices are a bit high overall so would not make it a regular stop and continue to Omak for any serious grocery shop.

Super tired of buying very expensive produce only to get it home and this. Other reasons from prior visits; Getting charged for 11 heads of lettuce when I bought 2, key stroke error? Expired milk products in dairy case (I should have looked before I put it in the cart so I didn't complain then, but now it's becoming a 'thing'). How do you justify rotten produce on your shelves? Very disappointed that I can't just grab and go with this store. Everything has to be scrutinized.Update Oct 2023: I see a marked improvement in the store lately. I think they are trying harder, the store looks cleaner, better stocked, less issues with expired or rotting produce. Still wish they'd fix the freezers. Hard to trust food that's been thawed and refrozen so much.

Sad that in a small town, we have self checkout. I have seen 3 people just standing there, watching people and directing them to self checkout. All they do is watch to make sure your are not stealing, Sad. Would never work there because I like to be busy, not stand around. Good selection but will NEVER use self checkout. Left a cart full one time because I waited too long for a checker..

The store has good & fresh produce. But their frozen section and dairy needs allot of help. Bought Tillamook cheese and found it had been warm enough to start melting and then was firmed back up again. The ice cream is the same way.

Great selection of products. Not an extensive produce section but enough to work with. I found my Grass Milk and even some very cheap chicken for the dog. The people there are very friendly.

This is a large grocery store so for those unusual items I will go here. I prefer the mom and pop friendly personal service stores and though nice I don't get that here. It's clean, organized, super great produce section, has a hot deli and some miscellaneous items aside from food. It's connected to the Country Store and that makes it convenient as well

Nathan who is an employee was so rude and couldn’t have been a worse example of customer service. Kept speaking bad on customers and thought no one could hear him saying those negative things

Well.....how lucky do you feel??? You a gambler? Every purchase of frozen foods from Akins is a gamble. Came in this week after being gone for a few weeks. Couldn't help but notice the new check out stands. They do look nice. Must have cost a bit of money. This highly disappoints me . Been watching the freezers go out on a monthly basis for over a year now. You can even bet on a sale on frozen foods right after the freezers are back up and running. I wouldn't recommend it tho. Been sick a few too many times from buying refrozen food items here. Seeing the new checkouts instead of freezers was a last draw for me. No thanks, taking my business elsewhere.

The store looks good. The new check stands not bad but many items need assistance to check them through. Selection is even decent. Lots of personal turnover means dealing with new inexperienced people a lot. And the high prices still make it worth the trip to Safeway in Omak. I used to do 90% of my shopping in Oroville. Now it is more like 10%

Worst shopping experience I’ve ever had! No cashiers, only self checkout available, making produce, ice and wood difficult to buy, terrible selection throughout the store, extremely unprofessional staff! I would NEVER shop here, except I have family in Oroville and visit regularly. I’ve never had a pleasant experience here, these 5 star reviews have to be employees, or family of employees.

The selection could be more varied, and the costs are high, but there are lots of things we can eat. Some Costco/Kirklanditems that are still the best price even if inflated by 1/3, such as kalamata olives, bath tissue, paper towels, coffee, vanilla extract, etc. Food Land store brand has good prices. Alcohol selection is expensive, but relatively varied. Frozen vegetables selection is good. Fresh vegetables are minimalist.

mask mandate is back in effect, so why am i seeing employees not wearing masks? it’s extremely unprofessional and insensitive to your customers and other employees to not be taking this pandemic seriously. a lot of elderly and people with terminal illnesses in this town, so why not do the bare minimum to ensure their safety? i wish i could say i’m suprised but i’m always getting dirty looks from customers and employees when i walk into this store with my mask on, which is what we should ALL be doing. fix it.

Went on vacation. Came back and half the checkout lanes have been changed to self checkout. It would appear they eliminated employees, too. Managers were working through registers that were still open. I would think with less employees there wouldn't be a need for as many managers.

Only one cashier on duty after the installation of self check stands. Savings in employee expenditure is not translated into savings for the customer either apparently. 50 Cent's a leaf for collard greens. If it was not New Year's Eve and I had not forgotten to pick them up elsewhere I would never pay such a price. Still saved me an 80-mile round trip by having some in stock.

My wife and I like their meats, much more tender than other super markets in the area. We can order in the internet and pick up at the front of the store. Very convenient

Do you like feeling abandon and forgotten? If so go to walmart! If not, this is the place for you. Talk to your neighbor, browse the vast selection and purchase from a store that doesent suck the life out of everything with a big yellow smile.

everytime we go to the deli to eat they are sold out of everything they have and what they do have looks like warmed over left overs if your going to have a deli have fresh food and have it available all day people eat lunch at different .i tried to buy chinese food the other day and there was some in the case and i was told i couldn’t buy it because it was saved for someone why does your deli hold food shouldnt it be available for every customer.im deciding if i ever want to eat here again or take my business elsewhere.

They have just about everything. Very clean, nice people, and they now have atleast 4 self chechout stations. And they are right on top of any help u might need. Either finding items or at the checkout stations.

Extremely helpful people...in both Akins, and the attached Country Store...BJ, who works in the Country Store part, ALWAYS goes above and beyond in every single customer interaction that I have observed...and Hunter, working on the Akin's side, is ALWAYS ready with a warm smile and wonderful customer service skills...not to mention that you can find just about anything under the sun between the two stores....in my opinion...a total WIN-WIN...!!!!Most sincerely, Wendi Wiggins

This is the tourist trap grocery store, its way over priced. Lactose free milk in canada is 5.99. It's also 5.99 American at this store. Ice here is $2.50, if you go across the street to the gas station it's only $1.50.

Very friendly, but I wouldn't buy the meat because of the lady with purple hair that works in the meat department is not sanitary.
