Chris was so awesome and helpful! My husband brought in ski boots he inherited and Chris tried all kinds of things to help them fit better, we ended up ordering new boots after Chris fitted him and recommended some options. He also took the time to explain and share tips about boot fitting. The boots were in store by the end of the week. Very personalized service :)

The experience I had at this location was utterly disgusting. As a dual military family that just arrived in this state, we went to this location to look for coats/jackets and were met with discrimination from the time we walked in the door to the time we left. The Caucasian gentleman with long hair and the older Caucasian female made us extremely uncomfortable. We returned in uniform and were treated like decent human beings (which is what makes it more upsetting). Discrimination is unacceptable whether you assume the customers have money or class, do better.

There are some very rude staff here. My wife and I were looking at sleeping pads and a middle aged female employee asked what we were doing. We explained and she asked what type of camping we would be doing. I told her just standard tent camping, and her response was if we weren't hiking in then we were just car camping. She then walked away without actually helping us.

Preston in the bike shop went above and beyond. Preston took the time to take extra special care of me. I was in with a flat tire and he got me back on the road with a tube less set up.

Tom was very kind to stop and help "install" streamers on my son's Strider. We were visiting from out of town and didn't have the tools to fit them in his handlebars.I appreciate the kindness of Tom and the other employees to make my son's day. It's the little moments.

Great REI store with lots of store space. While it can be more expensive then I would like their goods are worth it

I swear the employees here treat this store like they work at Gucci. I cannot comfortably walk around and look at things as much as I’d like without being followed. Don’t go unless you really feel like you need attention.

Came down for a pair of blundstones because it said that this was a place to go online. They only have shoes for women and they only have two styles. There are no men's shoes only unisex and they are way too small. Waste of time look someplace else

Firstly, let me say that I HATE shopping. Let’s just make that clear. But shopping at REI is so painless I damn near enjoy it! From knowledgeable folks keen to help with fitting backpacks to patient shoe department staff who encourage me try on ten different pairs of shoes to find the best fit to the cheery people manning the registers I’ve never had a bad experience at an REI no matter which outlet I’ve gone to all over the US. The Olympia branch is no exception to their standards of excellent and friendly service. Well done yet again, REI!

Got awesome gear during our visit and had helpful employees, but got asked like 5 times if we are members. Got a bit annoyed lol. Made a joke about it at the checkout and the cashier replied sharply “we are just communicating”

beautiful store but some people need to be retrained in customer service. also maybe don’t talk about paying customers in front of them very unprofessional. this took place during the evening of nov 11th the people on the tills are the ones who talked about customers not the people on the floor they on the other hand were very helpful.

Honestly, for as wonderful as a store is that is in the business of selling products related to the outdoors, and actively promoting folks to partake in physical activity, the staff can tone it down on promoting their membership as far as I'm concerned. I understand why they do it, it just gets old after being informed about it 4 separate times by the same staff member in one visit. Overkill? I think so. And unfortunately to the point where shopping at REI is becoming less of an attraction. To whom it may concern; The 2nd class treatment by the blue/purple haired cashier lady shortly after announcing my lack of membership was unappreciated, and left me feeling even stronger about thinking twice before going in for that new pair of wool socks.

They charge 80 dollars for a boot heat molding. That should put everything in perspective. Plus they lie and say it's free if you are a member. Overall lying to make a profit.

The staff here at the store is so nice!!! Every person I talked to was kind and helpful despite it being their big black Friday sale and being super busy. I walked in, and Allison was the first to help me. She made my shopping experience so much better by telling me the deals they were having and how I could become a member. Kat helped me find the perfect alpining backpack well within my price range. I didn't get her name, but the nice shoe lady helped me find two amazing pairs of shoes. Finally, the gentleman helping me check my stuff out was so nice and helped me get even more discounts by making sure I bought the right amount of trail snacks. 100/10 recommend, I feel really happy with everything I bought, and I'm excited I get to be a member! :)

Came in for the Wonderland Trail class. Was great. Check in was great, class and instruction was great. Super informational. My first class with REI. Will definitely be back to do more. Really enjoyed my time learning about the trail. And the store... the best in the area. Have been to the south center location and Tacoma. This location hands down, the best. It's much larger than the other stores with a larger selection on what seemed to be everything. While I'm not in Olympia that often I have found a new reason to be. Absolutely love REI and everything they offer.

REI sends me constant email and paper mailers and paper catalogs trying to entice me to buy stuff I Don’t need . Now in the store to appear conscientious they are BAG LESS. Don’t send me catalogs but please but sell us a paper bag to carry your expensive merchandise home.I am going to avoid this store in protest of the bagless policy. . Aug 21,23 I found another 24 page REI catalog I don’t want in my mail.

I went there to buy a national park pass and Washington state pass. I had to ask for help with understanding which would be the best option for what i was getting. Also I needed help with the membership pass. Kat was amazing at helping me. I was really impressed. I told her my travel plans and she took out a map and explained some hikes in the area. It made me feel really comfortable with my trip. It’s nice, like a true hometown hiking tour. Full of knowledge and enthusiasm. I will definitely be back and continue to shop at REI as I really felt very welcomed. Thank you Kat.

Buy most of my clothes here nowadays. Lots of great socks. Good selection of North Face. If they dont have something in store check their website. Usually shipes next day. They have a bigger store in Seattle also. Great selection of camping equipment.

Malcolm is knowledgeable and honest. I bought a Jet boil set up and misplaced my receipt, he went beyond going the extra mile finding my purchase information and exchanging it. I was extremely happy with his service and skills.. thank you Malcolm... seriously if you need anything ask for him a get the membership... trust me.. if I would of at original purchase, I wouldn't of had to put him through it...

Absolutely awesome customer service! Don’t listen to reviews that say staff is rude or unhelpful! They must have been having a bad day or just go through life angry. I was helped by three great employees in the shoe section, but Ethan especially was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Not only did he help me with several different shoes, he was also helping another person at the same time, and he was similarly impressed by him. We both left very happy. I wish they got commission, but they don’t. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the one color I wanted in my size, so I wasn’t able to buy them today, but they had a huge selection of awesome shoes in many colors and sizes. I can’t say enough about this place. That guy deserves a raise.

Frustrating experience this weekend at the store. Went in to purchase a discover pass and was told that they are out and having had them for months. They weren’t able to say why or when they’d get them in again or tell me where else in the area might be carrying it. I was needing my pass for a hike this weekend. I did do a Google search to see where else I could purchase it but I’d expect all staff members at REI to know that info considering they are suppose to be one of the top outdoor retail suppliers in the area. Also had the same experience at the Tacoma REI.

They mixed up men’s and women’s clothing upstairs. I have poor vision due to an autoimmune disease. I had extremely difficult time to navigate around the clothing section. Horrible experience. When I mentioned it to an employee the guy just turned his back to me and walked away.

What a phenomenal experience! It is apparent that employees love working here. Ethan taught me so much about shoes, it was extremely helpful. Highly recommended the REI membership. This shopping is not fast food, it's fine dining. Be patient and take your time. It's worth it.

Great store with a huge selection of gear and an amazingly helpful staff! Daniel helped me get sorted with a new day hiking pack which is by far the best I've owned along with getting squared away with some camping gear ahead of my Mount Rainier trip.Chase was great as well and got me sorted with some awesome new hiking boots that were perfect for the dry and rugged terrain of the area. Thanks all for being awesome and helping make my trip great.

This is actually a pretty big REI given the population nearby. Excellent staff, where everyone is always ready to go the extra mile to assist customers.Don't buy shoes anywhere else until you check both of the re-supply points here. There are some amazing deals!

I was having awful foot pain in a pair of snowboard boots I purchased from REI years ago and could never figure out why. Kat helped me by asking a lot of questions about the areas I was experiencing pain, then she passed along my issue to Phoenix while my boots were getting molded so he was aware as well. He helped me adjust my binding as well and checked my stance to see if there were any other adjustments we could make to help. This Saturday for the first time ever while snowboarding I never pain in my feet. I'm super bummed when we bought the boots here in 2016 2017 we were never told that our type of boots have a liner that has to be molded but because kat and Phoenix did such a great job of helping me figure everything out I am very pleased and happy with the service and product 😀

I went there Monday September 12 2022 around 3/4pm. The employees downstairs were polite. My family of 3 were there to try on running shoes and determine which brand we would like to purchase. The 1 male worker in the shoe department was helping another gentleman. He did not acknowledge us, but we waited patiently for him to help us next. A woman walked up after us, looking at the same shoe we were interested in. The male worker approached her asking her if she needed help. Even after she said she was just looking, he completely ignored us the entire time. We hung around for a bit, but it got awkward so we just put the shoes down and left! I don’t know what kind of vibes REI has been putting out but this was very unprofessional and embarrassing for their store, we will not be returning.

Been a member for decades. Honestly I don't shop here a lot but when I do I usually buy Big ticket items because of their return policy. I mean come on you could have issues with an item you purchase for up to a year in return it. Honestly I've only had to use that option a couple times over the years. But it's nice to have just like Costco.Downside is always been price. It's never been the cheapest place to shop. But I love shopping there every quarter when we get the 20% off coupons which start tomorrow...yippee! You can pretty much guarantee we will buy things four times a year just for that coupon.Overall, love REI. Feels like such a Pacific Northwest store.. especially Olympia.
