We had a great and relaxing time. Cottages are almost a 100 years old but well maintained and comfortable. Kitchen was perfect for cooking Easter Dinner for 6. Occupied Bald Eagles nest in a neighboring tree was an added bonus. "America". Staff were friendly and helpful. Walking distance to beach, store, coffee and more. Very dog friendly, and by the way all cottages are dog friendly not just the "Dog Cottage". Planning to book the whole resort next year for a family reunion.Noteworthy details: Friendly and quiet.

I'll be back soon if any openings are available when I look. Nice and quiet, short walk to the beach which is incredible, great clean and comfortable basic little cabins. Awesome owners, if you need something, they help fast. Very Nice people staying there. Very considerate and respectful to each other. Very dog friendly which I love. Don't go anywhere without them. It was a great little mini vacation for my wife and I for our busy life. Loved it, much needed. Can't wait for the next time. Hopefully soon.

I was asked to look up a dog friendly place to stay after offering to remove Ivy from the trees on a friends lot after seeing the pictures.This place feels like a warm hug from an old friend you haven't seen for a long time, very peaceful relaxing atmosphere just arriving here, you can feel the love of decades past. No shared walls in most all of the cabins with a few simple rules that carry hefty fines, Don't Leave Dogs Alone In Cabin, make it a retreat for them too. This place is quiet in all the best ways, the cabin we stayed in had a well equipped kitchenette with gas stove, long lasting hot showers, comfortable bed and couch for dog. We plan on returning again for more than two nights after discovering the garden and size of the grounds.Safety: Private Drive not accesible to the public.Walkability: Grocery stores a few blocks away, beach trail is probably 1/4 mileNoteworthy details: Extra towels to dry off wet dogs available by the office. Super cute and very well maintained. Older buildings with small cottage style rooms. Microwave, stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker all included. Very friendly/chill owners! BBQs available and a decent DVD collection for free (tiny charge for charcoal, pretty sure they don't make $ on the charcoal). Private beach access. Walking distance from a coffee stand. Stayed here a couple times and will definitely come back again! Also, if they got a couple hot tubs, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We first came here about 25 years ago, and we keep coming back. The current owners are very nice, and they seem to welcome all people. Dogs are welcome too.There are about 8 cottages surrounding a central grassy area with picnic tables. Barbecues are available in the nice weather months, but it’s a great place to visit any time of year. The location is perfect too; it’s a short walk to the beach on a quiet trail and a short walk to the stores in town.The cottages are clean and nice and well equipped if you want to do your own cooking. Each cottage has its own theme, which is a nice touch.

This was my second time staying at this place and it was very relaxing and peacefull. The owners are great people. My cottage I stayed in was super clean when I arrived. It's also great to have beach access along with a store right across the street. Will definitely go back and I highly recommend it to everyone wanting a place to stay and relax.Noteworthy details: It's completely worth the cost of staying.

This is one of my favorite places. Not only are the owners (Jeff &, Lillian homer) super great people but they make the atmosphere so nice. Beautiful property. It's like the garden of eden when you enter the property. The cleaning staff are very friendly and willing to help with anything. One in particular, her name is Kris.. she is the absolute best!. She is willing to help with almost anything. She has very vibrant red hair and a very friendly personality. Her smile is very intoxicating. I have learned that not only is she the head housekeeper but she also helps to keep the property so gorgeous. They found a gem when they found her. They have Cable and internet with separate cottages. It's a very nice and romantic place to visit. My wife and I absolutely adore it there. Highly recommended. Plus, they have a private path to the beach about an 8th of a mile. Very nice little stroll to the amazing pacific ocean. You will not regret going there.Rooms: The rooms are absolutely adorable and very romantic. Non connecting and you never hear your neighbors. The best place to getaway.Nearby activities: The beach is walking distance!. All the activities I need. However there many thing to do within driving distance.Safety: I have never felt unsafe here. They are off the road back in a very cute and secluded area.Walkability: You can pretty much walk anywhere in town from there. Nothing it too far away unless you want to hit long beach. The best part is walking to the beach. Private path, very nice little walk. Especially with a loved one.Food & drinks: They don't offer food or drink on the property but, there are great places to get food and drinks nearby. There is a coffee shop just down from them. About a 3 minute walk. Restaurants and shopping all relatively close.

We returned to Shakti Cove Cottages again this year and again enjoyed our stay immensely! We stayed in Bear Cabin which is set off by itself giving an extra degree of privacy which we both enjoy. The floors have been redone in the cabin and look great. There is endless hot water due to a tankless water heater. The kitchen is small but serviceable and although plates and mugs are limited, it’s certainly enough for two. We were even able to bake chocolate chip cookies in the cabin. It is all very wonderful but I think the next upgrade should be a new mattress as it’s seen better days and tends to sag in the middle. I will certainly stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Very cute property. Walking distance to the beach, they have a clam cleaning station and the owners were SO nice! I called them serval times with questions about clamming and what to do in Long Beach and they were very helpful. Best part it’s dog friendly! Can’t say enough good things about this place! I had a very nice peaceful 2 nights. Everyone is very nice and helpful. I walked to the beach with my dog. Gave her a paw wash before entering my cottage. Read a book and watched a movie. Just did nothing but relax, slept in later than usual in the comfy bed.The studio was clean and equipped with enough kitchen items to cook a steak dinner. They also have BBQs in the front yards along with picnic tables and cozy chairs to sit and relax,I explored and found giant mushrooms, wild flowers and huge tall trees.I will be back to enjoy another mini vacation.Dog friendly too.

Amazing hidden gem, off the beaten path. The owners are down to earth, real people and their hard work is very apparent. Clean, cozy, and comfortable. Being a professional cook, I am super critical about kitchen units. I am very impressed by the fact that they have ovens, and outdoor charcoal grills, and lots of cooking tools. I don't have to drag my whole kitchen from home to get the culinary experience that I enjoy. Thank You!

We love this place and have went back several times. Walking distance to the beach is about 10 minutes but nice, romantic and simple. Has a great store a few blocks away that has everything you need. Definitely not updated but clean and fun, we liked that. If you are looking to get away from everything and go for walks on the beach this is a great place to stay.

A serene oasis just a moment's walk to the beach. The owners, Jeff and Lillian, are very friendly and helpful, and respectful of your needs, be it privacy, pets, or your enjoyment while in Ocean Park. Their whole family exudes tranquility.The cosy cabins, each with a different theme, offer comfort balanced perfectly with simplicity, we spent time in and around them as much as out.It is situated just a short walk to the beach, but right by Ocean Park, so you can access both with ease. We love this place so much that we've made it a yearly ritual.

Owners were so welcoming! The cottage was very cute and had every thing we needed such as utensils, linens, comfortable bed and seating. Best part was the private walk-way to the beach which made taking our dog out each day easy and enjoyable for all of us. We brought our firestick so we had more access to channels and entertainment, but there was many board games provided if we wanted. Perfect getaway!

This place is such a cute concept, but needs major renovation.Here are the pros:The private walk to the beachThe gorgeous sceneryHere are the cons:I can only attest for my cottage- The Goddess Cottage- but it was rotting and smelled of mold. It hurts my sinuses and I got so sick that I woke up three times with a searing migraine from the odor. The bed is dingy and old and the whole cottage has this forgotten basement vibe. The counters for the kitchen are peeling and you can see mold growing in the corners. My poor dog is a beagle and he was up all night because the odor was so foul.I did bring this to the attention of the owner, who alerted me of the dehumidifier. His response was "this is coastal living, all the cottages would be filled with mold if we didn't provide the dehumidifiers. Anywhere on the coast the homes will be filled with mildew." Well, I had two problems with this response:1) Along my trip, after this location, I stayed at many coastal hotels and none of them had this problem. Please take ownership of the poor condition of your rentals.2) The dehumidifier ran all night. It started at 85% and woke me up at three am beeping to say that it was full. After hours of running, it only got down to 65% and was so noisy it woke me up.I did not enjoy my rest here, It was not worth the money. It IS a great concept and a beautiful piece of land, but it needs major work.

Wonderful hosts, live onsite! Pets gladly welcomed! They even loaned us an extra leash when we forgot ours at home. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The walk to the beach is pretty. There are fire pits, charcoal bbqs, lawn chairs, picnic tables. They even have 1 car covered parking for each cabin. We rented the 2 bedroom cabin, which only had 1 couch otherwise I would've rated higher. Everything was very clean and we felt safe. Bring bug spray there is a lake/pond near and some mosquito's at night

If you're looking for a peaceful unpretentious retreat, then this is the place. Rustic cabins that are quaint and charming. All situated in a cove of trees and a generous path to the beach a short distance away. Slept like a baby! And they are dog friendly!

The new(ish) owners have really improved this place, with new TVs, combo DVD/VHS players (big selection of VHS tapes in the office), dehumidifiers, and microwave ovens.The units are rustic. Retro, even. Built at a time when small bathrooms were the norm.There is a trail to the beach, about a half mile & a very pleasant walk through woods & beach grass.So if you want a low-key Long Beach experience, this place will be fine.

I am trying to correct a mistake I made when asked by Expedia to review my check in experience. I gave it a sad face because unfortunately we had to cancel our trip very last minute due to a family emergency.The sad face was not meant to be any reflection on the cottages, just us being very disappointed not able to visit.Shakti Cove Cottages deserves nothing but the happiest of all review faces. They were understanding, empathetic, and very gracious when explaining my circumstances. I wish I could change the sad face review to the biggest smile face review. I am very sorry about the misunderstanding.
