If you want micro plastics in your “compost”, this is the place for you. I’ve held off for two years on posting this review, but two years later, I keep on finding major amounts of plastic in the compost that I got from them. I tried to contact them multiple times to see if there was any way to get a refund or to fix the problem that they had every time they would say they would give me a call back and never did. Save yourself the trouble and frustration, and somewhere where they don’t sell polluted soil.

Great place for bulk materials 👍 friendly and helpful staff. I picked up four yards of the general soil mix for a new garden bed and everything is thriving . I have started to level my lawn with the two-way mix and will be getting a few more yards this spring .

We use playchips for our dog area in the backyard. Was able to dump the old ones that we had and pick up 4 yards of new cedar playchips. Quick one stop and no wait on a friday!

Thrilling I'm sure. Well when I first wrote this review I was just joking not thinking anyone looked at reviews for a topsoil place. My apologies. That being said I will update that I've had pleasant experiences both taking in yard debris and also purchasing topsoil from them. Prices seemed very reasonable.

Bought 2 yards of compost, spread about half on my garden and stopped because it smelled like ammonia and death. My entire 4 acres has smelled unbearable for a week. Must have gone anaerobic. Brought the rest back, owner wouldn't give any refund. Not recommended.

I am very happy with them. I bring my yard debris and dump that off and pick up my composted mulch in the same trip. It is green and much more economical than dumping at the transfer station. As for the extra goodies you find in the pile occasionally its the people who cheat (because its cheaper) and throw their trash in with "YARD" debris that it is near impossible to clean out on such a large scale. It would be very expensive to get good clean sifted through composed.

Very friendly and helpful staff; as a landscaper, I come in about twice a week to unload material and it is an easy process. Their products are good. I recently put in my own garden beds with their soil and compost and my veggies are thriving!

I have been a customer of Skagit Soils for over 25 years as well as an avid home composter for 30+ years and I have been happy with both products and service!! The problem of occasional garbage in the mulch is not due to lack of screening or sifting by the Skagit Soils staff. The process of breaking down the material received requires ONGOING screening over the 3-6 months of processing. It is the general public, who DO NOT pay attention to what they throw in their green bins!! WE need to pay attention and educate our neighbors and friends as to what can and should go into their green bins. This is an important service for our community that reduces the huge amount of waist that would otherwise go into landfill but we all need to do our bit to improve the quality of the end product!!

I bought 16 yards of mulch as we do every year. Never had a problem before. This year mulch is mixed with lots of shredded plastic bags, PVC pipe pieces, plastic cups like from yogurt, glass shards, I even found a BIG metal spoon. Is Skagit Soils not getting enough materials to serve their customers that they have to add all that junk to it? I am extremely disappointed. They have lost me as a customer. My yard looks like somebody littered all over. Not acceptable.

Took a truck and trailer full of yard waste after I discovered the mount Vernon yard waste dump was closed. It cost me $10 (2.5¢ per pound).It is kinda strange that you have to pay them to take the stuff that they use to make the compost that they sell. Hmmm...

I would give this company zero stars if I could. Went here today to drop off lawn clippings because the city yard waste facility was closed. The guy at the scale told me where to go. I drove there and when I started unloading, another guy came over and told me that is not where I was supposed to be. I told him that was where I was told to go. No he didn't, the guy said. Yes he did I replied. I also told him that I hadn't been here before. Obviously, he said. He was instantly rude and combative. When I checked out, I told the first guy that his employee was rude and impatient. He just said, yes he is. I have better places to go than to places where employees act like jerks to customers and others knowingly employ them. Save your money and don't go here.

Wish I had read reviews before getting mulch. Very bad, poor quality full of garbage, spoons, saw blade, wrappers, plastic bags, etc. will be picking crap out forever?😡😡😡👎🏻 How can you even put the word compost on this s**t not deserving of any star. Mrs. Jensen
