A quaint spot for your coffee and pastry needs. The raspberry mocha had an excellent balance of flavors. The lemon bar was delicious with a great texture blend of soft and firm. The cherry and apple strudel had homemade filing that was absolutely excellent and paired with a wonderful pastry dough. The atmosphere held antique charm. We will be back.

Beautiful old building with a fabulous feel to the inside! The ambiance was wonderful. We ordered some food for the road(ham and cheese croissant, almond croissant, quiche and an old fashioned cinnamon roll). Food was not only excellent quality but packaged with care and warmed up without asking. They treat their food with the respect it deserves. Can't recommend enough!

My scores reflect BOTH inputs from me and my wife. She loved her food while I simply wasn't impressed with mine at all. The restaurant is a unique vibe, two dining floors, which I love for a restaurant to have. It's attached to an antique shop which is a good time to pass time while waiting to be seated. It is quite busy especially on weekends. The tables are small, very low to the ground, and the chairs were slightly less than comfortable. Our waitress was quick to get us our drinks and our food order. The menu is big so I decided to get the soup/salad/sandwich combo. I chose clam chowder and the grilled cheese (add bacon, no tomato), and garden salad thousand island dressing. My wife got French toast with bacon. The food came out quick. My wife loved her French toast (HUGE size) and she said her bacon was the best she's had in her life. My grilled cheese was missing the bacon, and the amount of cheese was pathetic. I know I only got half the sandwich but look at the picture, it's two little slabs. The pesto was nice on the sandwich though. The clam chowder was not the best. Being from Boston, the clam chowder capital, I'm a harsh critic but this didn't pass the test (other than the potatoes). Not thick enough, no bacon bits, not enough clams, lack of creamy flavory. The salad, however was absolutely delicious! You can tell the veggies were locally sourced and fresh. The thousand island was good not great. Overall we enjoyed our time, we will be back. Perhaps I just need to focus on breakfast foods, or try something else on the menu.

My friend and I had brunch here and had an awesome experience! It was extremely busy but we were sat quickly and served in a timely manner. Our waitress, Claire, was super nice and kept checking on us and refilled our drinks often. The food portions were great for the price of the meal. We had the salted caramel latte and black Scottie vanilla chai were both delicious! 5 stars and would definitely come back!

We visited Mount Vernon today for the tulip festival and stopped by Calico Cupboard for brunch. This restaurant is large and we were seated quickly. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is thoughtfully decorated. The scramble, PNW breakfast sandwich, and breakfast burrito were all good with filling portion sizes. I was not a fan of the biscuits and gravy, there was almost no sausage in the gravy and the biscuits were very flat, I would not recommend this dish. The passion fruit iced tea was very light and refreshing. On our way home we stopped by the front desk to order some fresh pastries. I enjoyed our visit despite the less than satisfactory biscuits and gravy.

The food is so fresh! I loved my egg sandwich with avocado on focaccia bread. My niece got the Potatoes Rancheros, which was so delicious! The potatoes tasted freahly cooked and so natural! We also sampled the freshly baked cookies! The lemon snickerdoodle is a must try! Very unique flavor and so soft! I love clean food, and this cafe was very impressive on quality. It was a fun stop for food on the go for our trip to see the tulips before heading to Vancouver! We highly recommend!

I wish I lived here so we could make this our go-to coffee and bakery/lunch spot! Usually we have to do fast food in our trips along I-5, but this lovely place is worth planning into our trip. I had a chicken pesto on focaccia sandwich, and my husband had the garden burger. They aren’t excessively cheap, but the price is reasonable and the quality of the ingredients is quite high. The berry mimosa qualifies as a serving of fruit as well as being extremely satisfying. We haven’t even tried the pastries yet! Next time we will—

The biscuits and sausage gravy were the worst I have ever eaten. The biscuits were hard and dry. The gravy had 2 tiny pieces of sausage no larger than a dime in it. It was thick and had a dried skin formed on it. Very odd tasting as well. I gave it a 3 star because the eggs and bacon were tasty. The coffee tasted like burnt dirt. Very bad.

Breakfast bowl and Italian sausage scramble were both very good. Nice rustic meals with a little shop connected while you wait. We went during the tulip festival season so it was pretty busy but didn’t have to wait very long. Lots of pastries available for to go as well.

Amazing pastries! I love that they use locally sourced ingredients and make almost everything in-house. The rustic and cozy atmosphere was very inviting and the staff was great. This place is popular and very busy, so there is always at least a little bit of a wait to be seated and a wait for food. The wait is worth it! Dad's smothered omelet was done to perfection, and my salmon scramble was delicious too. The homemade clam chowder is on my top 3 favorites! Hubby's cinnamon french toast had under-done egg in the center, which made 1/4 of his meal unappetizing. This is why the 4 star review instead of 5. The flavor was great, though!

Always delicious. Gets busy so expect to wait for a seat during weekend breakfast. You can always do take out. Friendly staff. Great offerings of bread, pastries, and more ready to go. The peanut butter bar is divine. Let it sit for a bit and the filling is so soft and creamy.

Went to have brunch with my sisters. Food was delicious but I also ordered a caramel nut cinnamon roll to go. Which I clearly pointed at the menu. I don’t know how they messed that up in the order. They brought me a latte instead I told the waitress that I ordered the caramel nut she took the coffee back. Came back with another drink and walked away. My sisters and I were shocked. I don’t know how u could possibly get a drink and a roll mixed up.

We were rushed placing our orders because the "kitchen" was closing soon. They didn't tell us until seated and they didn't tell us the table area was closing at 4.We thought we could have a nice late lunch and carry on a conversation between the 4 of us. Well that didn't happen. We got our meal at 3:40, started eating and discussing where we were going next. Then the waitress comes to the table at 3:50 and said we had to leave at 4. Then they were removing finished tableware as we took the last bite or drink. They were rude about all of it. Especially as 3 of us use canes as we walk and one of us being 91 years old cant just jump up and run to the door. Other people dining were very upset because they were treated the same way. They said they were reporting this as well.

20yrs after my first (and only) visit, the chai is still amazing. I had Linda's BIL Hash, very tasty. My partner had French toast that he sent back.Highly recommend a stop here and maybe stick with the specialty dishes. Staff is very friendly yet the operation appears to run inefficiently.

Great place for brunch with friends and family! Very nice farmhouse like ambience with good selection of vegetarian meals and beverages. The portions are quite large and good for sharing. We had to wait for half an hour for a table, but it was worth the wait. Three of us tried the pesto scramble, brussel sprout scramble and the smoked salmon eggs benedict and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good service too. Will come back for sure!

This place has gone downhill fast. It used to have a great reputation and delicious food at reasonable prices. Not anymore. We waited almost an hour for a table at 10:00 a.m. Our server acted like she could hardly be bothered to take our order and serve us. The pancakes were soggy and my “omelette” was scrambled eggs with unmelted cheese on top of a pile of bacon bits. McDonalds would have been a better choice.

Got the Farm Burger. It was kinda messy so I had to eat it with a fork and knife but delicious! Our server was super nice as well :) Thanks! This is not the first time I've been here and I will be back for sure.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options for many of the burgers and sandwiches.

This was our first time in the Mount Vernon restaurant. The atmosphere was awesome, We were seated right away. After 10 to 15 minutes we received our Breakfast, Upon delivery of our food I had asked the waiter for more coffee, He says sure be right back, He had walked by us 3 times without any more coffee. By this time we are halfway through our food and a waitress was walking by I said excuse ma'am, ma'am excuse me 3 times as she walking by but i could tell i was being ignored cause her eys looked over at us as she was walking by. I Finally got someone's attention from a waitress who was cleaning the table beside us and she came back and gave us a second cup of coffee. Our breakfast looked awesome, Portion size were great. We did not see our waitress again after she had taken the order, the rest of the time we were there she never came over and asked us how our food was in fact no one came over and asked us how our food was, if they did I would have received the 2nd cup of coffee and I wouldn't be giving a bad review. We were very disappointed.

I would give Calico Cupboard 5 stars if there were more vegan plant-based options, but the few items they do have are delicious. There's the Skagit Hash that can be ordered without cheese, the Vegetarian Chili in bread bowl that can be ordered without cheese, and salad. None of the pastries are noted as vegan. Coffee and espresso can be ordered with non-dairy milk. The waitstaff are exceedingly friendly, and it's a local favorite so prepare to wait for a table.

Made me feel like a kid again. I ordered Swiss mushroom burger off menu, mistakenly thinking it came with fries, and a soda, $22. The burger came with small unopened yellow bag of Lays chips. The burger was school cafeteria level quality, it was ok I Guess, I will concede it was food. The atmosphere was great, staff super friendly. Don't really recommend except maybe for coffee.

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTravels. We have had the pleasure to enjoy this establishment a couple of times and always enjoy. This trip I had the Cobb salad and Diane had the salmon tacos. The tacos were on toasted tortillas and full of flavor. The salmon was perfect and seasoned well and the slaw had a flavor that was a perfect compliment. My salad was full of ingredients and fresh. Nothing left in the bowl 😎. We have also tried their breakfast and pastries in the past and the only complaint was that the scrambles can't be done with just 2 eggs, only 3 and they are huge. Not a bad problem to have. We find the staff friendly and the service good. Big thumbs up 👍👍.
