Had a great experience here.I should have gotten the names of the two excellent young gentlemen helping us because they were awesome. We were shopping around for a new larger cage for our African Grey. Called before heading over to make sure they had something in the size range we were looking for. We were told they did so we headed on over. The store itself was clean and the layout made it easy to look around. I thought the prices seemed reasonable. I think it’s important to support a local business and if we lived closer we’d probably shop here regularly. The guy working behind the desk asked if he could help us, we told him we were the ones who called about the cage. He asked another young man who had a super cute Sun Conure to check on the sizes they had in stock. While we waited we checked out stuff in the store. Lots of birds as well as all the toys and perch accessories you could want.We wanted a pretty large cage and they did have a size that would work for us. They were super helpful with the whole process and gave my husband some tips on setting it up.We left with a new cage and a few accessories for it. Got it set up pretty easily when we got home.Us and our Grey are very happy with everything. We definitely recommend this store and will be back when we are in the area again.

Isa, Rick, Allison, everyone is great here! All of them knowledgeable and approachable. They have excellent customer service. Really personable and careful with the process in finding the birds forever homes. I’m excited to take my little one home very very soon!!I walked in the first time from being a part of a Facebook group for awhile. I then decided on my type of bird, came in to just learn and observe. I tried out the aviary and learned how to connect better. They recommend spending time with your bird before taking the bird home. Which I believe is awesome!I’m feeling like I can properly prepare for my first bird on my own. I had cockatiels when I was much younger, but this time I know I can definitely keep my companion happy and healthy! 😊My advice, be patient with the aviary process. Everyone is trying to find a forever friend. This service and process they have makes total sense!

Denise’s Parrot Place really cares about their birds a lot. They might be stricter than other places about their policies; but it’s all because they want to make sure the owner is well prepared, mentally and supply-wise, to take on the responsibility of owning a parrot. They are knowledgeable and friendly. Their baby birds are hand-fed and very tame. This is the place to go if you are serious about owning a quality parrot.

I really like this place I 3 conures and I loved them they were so nice but they were a bit scared which I understand and I gained a little trust by giving them nuts or almonds and they also had good toys and food and clean I would love to come here again.

Zoe was a bit sassy at the beginning but I gave her some banana chips and she was extremely excited. The conures were so playful but sadly can't really touch them. I enjoyed the vibes here and I do really want to cone back here again!

Please, for the love of god don’t buy a macaw or any parrot for that matter until you have spent a legitimate amount of time around them and have researched ALL of the aspects of ownership. These wonderful creatures can easily outlive you, even if you get one as a teenager…Yes, they can live that long. Macaws can live up to 100 years and longer in captivity! A they are a very demanding, intensive time investment companion if you are going to raise them properly. They MUST be properly socialized, fed a proper (can be very expensive) diet, mentally exercised regularly by supplying ample toys, wooden chews, perching trees, etc and a very strong steel cage for times when you aren’t there and preferably a whole room just for the bird where they can romp around and be…birds. If you can’t do that or at least properly socialize and feed one for decades then it’s a good idea to find another companion. You can get most of the same enjoyment and personality with a conure, or a Quaker parakeet. They are great first time bird parent birds and can help prepare you for a macaw, or help you realize maybe a macaw is a bit too much bird. There are sadly thousands of macaws (and cockatoos) across the country in adoption or rescue facilities. They were each given up by someone who thought they could handle it. That should tell you something. Some people can do very well with them, most can’t. Do yourself a favor and take the time to make sure you are prepared if you are determined to have one, as you will have lots of time afterwords regretting it if you don’t. They can make wonderful companions for the right person. Someone who is financially settled, home a lot, doesn’t smoke anything (smoke of any kind is terrible for their little systems to handle) is emotionally stable and *extremely* patient in nature. Birds are very in tuned to their person. More so than dogs even. If you are an uptight or mood swing prone person I promise you your bird will be miserable and pluck. I make this post not to scare away people from parrots, only to hopefully incite a moment of reflection that could help save yet another parrot from the adoption or rescue cycle. I give kudos to the owners of this shop as they are known for doing more pre-purchase vetting than most shops out there. Remember, Google is your friend. Spend the time researching until you feel confident, and then spend another week in “cool down” time. If you still feel confident after that, then go for it. Listen to your inner voice, it will tell you if it’s a good choice.

So reading down thru these reviews, I must admit I'm a little confused. I've never experienced "bad customer service" from any of these employees and in fact I've been in there every other day visiting our baby parrot while it is still weaning. It's a very clean place, which I know is very hard to pull off in a bird shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. As far as knowledgeable goes, I have enough experience with birds to know that there is a lot of conflicting information out there, even with this staff. Parrots are like people, so you can't use a cookie cutter and say this parrot is nice because it's green and this parrot is mean because it's red. Nor is all the tips the staff offers you, is always going to work. You buy the bird and you figure it out. Their birds are well taken care of and the overall atmosphere is nice. And this store, like well-meaning stores, don't let you just buy a bird on a whim, you have to visit it several times and watch the bird's behavior. This is normal practice for exotic bird shops, after all, no one wants to hand feed a bird for months only to allow it to show up on Craigslist for 50 bucks. So those are the good points, but like any other, there are some minor negatives. One, they aren't cheap. The demand for these exotic birds are high, they're on Mercer Island and keeping the price high actually quells demand enough such that if you're going to spend money on your bird, odds are you'll take this creature's life seriously, vs say a Goldfish. So don't come in here asking for a cheap bird that can talk. I paid upwards to 3700 for an Amazon which is on the high end for this bird. Second, you don't get vet records and all sales are final. So we pay a premium price on a gamble that hey, this bird *should* be OK. If you want to be sure, tack on another 250 for a vet visit because these guys aren't going to the vet for you.Overall great experience, not my favorite, I have a favorite store, but I don't want to mention it in someone else's review. But when you're looking for a parrot, you gotta find one who likes YOU which can take a long time and a lot of searching. We just happen to find one here.

Ok, we all have to admit there were many birds there, it was pretty clean inside and also, they let us hold the birds. But one of the staff were kind of impatient, so I give it 4 stars. I recommend you to go there if you want a bigger parrot, not budgies. It's personally overpriced. I've seen lower prices. So yeah.

I got my Parrot Miss Penelopy from Denise's Parrot Place about 13 yrs ago. She is a Bronze Winged Pionus. Never had a bird before and they were great at helping me get set up and answering any questions I had on an ongoing basis. Very helpful anytime along the years I had a question. Fast forward about 13 years...Miss Penelopy started plucking her feathers out at a rate of all but her head, wings and tail had feathers left on her in a 36 hr period. She seemed fine before this happened. I had no idea what brought this on. After researching on the web and not really finding a diffinative answer I called Denise's Parrot Place and spoke to Hugh. Hugh spent a great deal of time through several phone calls of the possibilities and reassuring me that it wasn't something I did but birds just can sometime will do this in captivity for what reason we all are not sure and gave me some suggestions and ideas to help curb her from doing this...the possibly of why could be inviroment, nutrition, boredom, inactivity and a whole host of other reasons but he helped me with some ways to help curb her desire to pluck her feathers...she had a follow up visit to the vet coming so I had them check her out for any physical reasons but could not find any...so ruled that out. But with using alot of ideas that Hugh gave me and adjusting my behaviour patterns with her...her feathers are now starting to grow back in...keeping my fingers crossed at this point. A simple thing I did from an idea Hugh gave me for a home made neck collar I had some cotton tube rapping you use to put over a finger to cover it with...I cut a piece about an inch to and inch and a half long to use as a padding for under the collar around her neck, I slid that over her head...well I couldn't get the collar to work but found that Miss "P" would grab ahold of that rapping and pop it like a rubber band with her beak! That seemed to work! She would just pop and pop that band and pick at it instead of her feathers!!! Her feathers are at this point starting to come back in and with now literally finding no feathers on the bottom of her cage! I just want to thank Hough for spending so much time with me and talking about so many issues and ideas that it gave me a good base to work on to find a solution to this issue of feather plucking...I was and am still concerned that this is not totally over but at this moment things are improving and his help was invaluable to me and conversing with me on this issue. I have always been happy with their service I have gotten over the years at Denise's Parrot Place... but I now live in Missouri and for him to spend the time he did with me I just can't appreciate it enough! So Thank you Hugh and Denise's Parrot Place for everything! And pray that this hurdle is over...on that issue. .. only time will tell but all the attentiveness from Hugh had a great impact of the results so far! You all are the best! Many many Thanks!

Update: she crossed the rainbow 🌈 on 19th of july,2023...because of crop infection. This place is a highly commercial bird/parrot mill...I can't imagine how the families are dealing with the health issues of the birds once they become teenagers. It's so wrong to breed birds just for selling them like commodity 😢😥We got our cockatiel 6 years ago from here but the bird has ongoing crop issues. She is otherwise doing well but the crop swelling goes away and comes back from time to time. We have consulted various veterinarian on this issue and most have said this is a breeders issue of mass breeding and hand feeding techniques that are wrong, but nobody is going to accept it. I hope no one else sees their pet in so much pain, as we had to take her to emergency twice due to crop issues.

Really care for their birds, and are very knowledgeable about them. Will help you get setup (cage, toys, etc.) for your new bird as they require a 3 visit minimum once you have decided on your bird and there's no pressure or sales tactics. They honestly want their little guys and girls to go to forever, loving and healthy homes. The food they sell for the birds is top rate and very healthy. They board as well, and I'll definitely use them to take care of our birds, anytime.

Very clean. The store takes cleanliness serious. We had to wash hands before handling and they have an aviary to meet the birds. The staff seemed knowledgeable and will help educate you on how to take care of your pet. I usually don't purchase any animal from a "pet store", but I will definitely recommend this place for birds.

Shop was immaculate and Staff very knowledgeable. Our bird was finger trained and understood "perch please" to step off. Hugh spent a lot of time handling the birds and offers support and help with your bird training. Denise's parrot Palace is not your average bird store! Highly recommend

Very welcoming to visitors, and some of the sweetest feathered friends around! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I didn't buy anything so I've got no basis for that part of the experience. The staff was knowledgeable and even though they don't have budgies, they even had a recommendation for where I could find some that have been hand fed since they were babies (my experience is that they're far friendlier and just deal with people better and as such live longer, better lives). Even though I'm not in the market for a parrot, when it's time to get another bird, I'm definitely going back here. Oh, and it was definitely worth the 2 hour trip to get there by bicycle/ferry! Such a fun place!

I got my bird from this store about 4 months ago. Very clean, friendly, and a lot of toys, food and everything in between. I never had a problem with coming in with my bird or without him. I like to take him in so he can see his old home and some of his old friend who helped take care of them.Well, I went in a couple of days ago. The normal staff I know, wasn't working. End up meeting a new staff member, who wasn't as friendly as the other but still greeted me. But was more questioning on why I was there. He was helping a family with picking out birds. He had out a beautiful eclectus. All the times I have met a bird in store before getting my little guy. A staff member would hold the bird and enter the free flying cage and than would hand off the bird. Well, I guess they don't do that now? This poor bird was flying all over, flew into the widow not...once...not twice, but three times!!!! Before the staff member that going into the flight care will be a good idea! I am sorry, but anyone could have walked in, at the time the bird was flying and he could have flown out of the store. Let alone, the bird could have hurt himself, flew into a cage and scared another bird to hurt itself.I will go back to the store but if I wanted to get another bird from there...it might be on hold since I saw this. I will always call and see who is working at the time before going in as well.OVERALL, it is a nice place but keep in mind to go a couple of different times before making getting a loving bird.

I never write reviews but this place is so amazing , I’d give it 100 stars if I could.. The gentleman working there (forgot his name) is so helpful. He returned my emails right away and was very patient with my 8 year old. All the birds seemed happy , healthy and loved.. totally worth the drive from Everett to Mercer island. I’d recommend anyone interested in purchasing a bird to check this place out. They are amazing !!!

I don't recommend this place, I called in today and they said they had parrot birds in there and when I finally drove up 2 hours to pick up the parrot they said that I had to go there 3 times instead of telling me over the phone. This place sucks, do not buy anything from them guys. not worth it.

The owner and staff were very accommodating, patient and professional during our visit. Unlike other bird stores we visited, it had quality products and was kept clean. This spoke volumes about the care and health of the birds they sell.Without a doubt, one could feel confident about buying from these folks.ThanksCe

Back in May of 2021 our daughter picked out a cockatiel. This was the third bird for her. And yes the other birds are alive and well. The oldest being 2. Anyways the bird she picked ended up being sick and was put down so they offered another bird. Well its been a little over 3 months and she passed away. There is a 3 day health guarantee. And we are out. We will never purchase a bird from Denise's Parrot Place!

A month ago, we took home our cockatiel, whom we had visited for a month and a half once a week. The bird was kept with love and he immediately became super sociable. Our parrot's name is Master Chirikawa and yesterday he started speaking in human language.

Everyone here has always been very good to me and to my bird. It's also very convenient to have a place five minutes from home when I need to board my cockatoo. They always take great care of her, and are very friendly.

Very disappointed in my experience. The man working at the desk is very condescending and rude. He interrogates you on your experience with birds. What is his point? They lost a sale that day and will not go back. He gave conflicting information that was different than what the female said over the phone. We ended up going to Wings of the World in Bothell and they were very professional and kind.

(I don't want to use my real name)I love Denise's Parrot Place, I bought my lovely Timneh Grey parrot from her establishment. I also got a spunky little lovebird as well about a year later. While talking to the gentleman who works there, we somehow got on the subject of rope perches, and I expressed reticence towards them because my lovebird accidentally ingested some fibers from a rope perch and died.He promptly informed me that if my lovebird was "dumb enough to eat the perch, he probably deserved to die".I really wish I was kidding, but unfortunately this employee ACTUALLY said that to me. Under the guise of natural selection and mother birds knowing which birds wouldn't make it and kicking them out of the nest as babies. So essentially, reading between the lines, he was basically telling me that they sold me a lovebird that should have been kicked out of the nest, a bird that I loved for over two years, a bird that suddenly woke up one morning and ate his perch and deserved to die.In the same conversation he practically bragged about putting any new bird that he gets right into the cage of his other birds because "if they can't get along they're out of there". Telling a customer something like that is incredibly irresponsible and seems like a recipe for disaster. I have two parrots and if I followed his advice and put them together, I guarantee one would be dead within ten minutes. So thanks for ruining an otherwise great store. I love the products they carry, their birds are all healthy and beautiful, but I can't really go back to the store without knowing when he's working, because I don't want to deal with a man who thinks that my lovebird deserved to die because he was "dumb".

We bought a Senegal there about 9 years ago. We also used to board our birds there. I concur with some reviews about some staff putting on airs about being parrot experts. Parrots are very complex creatures that are very individual. They also charge a lot for boarding and the birds get very little interaction. We board our birds at Wings of the World now (much cheaper). The people there know our birds and interact with them.
