Great spot to camp. Trash cans and water access available all through camp. Two large, clean, pit toilets in the center of camp. Sites are spacious with tables and campfire pits. Dog friendly. Group picnic area near adjoining raft launch. Parking lot near boat ramp. People seemed to car camp in this area due to sites being full.Restrooms: Large spacious pit toilets. No smell.Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly campground.Picnic area: Picnic tables and bear box at every site. Group picnic area with grills available near the raft launch.

Holly cow, this is heaven on earth. The most prettiest campground I’ve been too. I love camping. There are no fancy facilities but the location is wonderful. They do have trash cans and outhouses. No showers. Also have potable water. There is a river right next to the campground with beautiful turquoise water coming from lake Diablo. Smells like nature heaven

Small campground with 19 sites. Lot of privacy. A river on the campground which is beautiful to relax at. A small covered picnic section with tables and grill on the river. We went there off season and it’s first come first serve during that time. We got lucky as one family was leaving and we arrived just then. I do not recommend bathing in the river as the current is strong. Water is cold as it’s fresh from the glaciers. Fire pit with grills. Toilets are not flush so it’s only good for one day camping. Flush toilets at the nearby(5 mins drive) visitor center but they’re closed in off season.

Stayed at site 10 which is on the river but you can't see it with the overgrowth of trees and brush and close to Site 12. Site 12 and 13 have a small trail to a small private river beach with site 13 being the better of the three sites. Vault toilets are old but clean. Short walk to the other loop to have river access to take a dip in the glacier river. The river is beautiful and very cold. Soooo many mosquitoes. Bring bug spray and long sleeves or they'll eat you alive.

A smaller campground option across the river from the Newhalem Creek campground. Goodell has two very small loops just off Highway 20, 19 sites total. All sites are heavily wooded, and there are several right on the river. We stayed at site 19, a large site with a nice view of the river but no direct access to it. Sites were much larger and more private than the ones at Newhalem, which is why we opted for this campground, and we were overall pleased with the choice. The happy burble of rushing water helped immensely in drowning out traffic noise from the highway, which was a bit annoying as you got further from the water. The major downside to our stay was the outhouse situation. The larger of the two loops had a really nice, newer set of pit toilets, but the small loop where we stayed had much older toilets. The doors kept being left open so they were absolutely full of bugs, they reeked worse than almost any pit toilet I've ever used (probably why people kept leaving the doors open), and when we arrived the floor and toilet seat in one was covered in feces and the other in urine. This campground doesn't have an on site host and the restrooms seem to only be checked once per day, so we ended up walking over to the other loop to use the facilities. There is no firewood for sale here or at Newhalem Creek, so bring your own. The general store in Newhalem has some but the price is steep.

July 2020: all spots were first come first serve. Water supply and bathrooms available. There is also trash AND recycle available! Dog friendly on leash. Such a lovely place to stay. About half of the campground spots are river side which is amazing. You can walk down your own little path to a private beach on the FREEZING cold river. 10/10 will come back here

~The Flatlanders Visit North Cascades~We picked up our RV in Seattle and headed to North Cascades for our first national park adventure in WA and needed a nearby base of operations. Goodell came up many times in our search with favorable responses, so we booked a slip (Slip 19, to be exact) and were so glad we picked this. The pictures below are our slip and then the Skagit River, which sits just maybe 50 feet out the back of the RV. Absolutely gorgeous, extremely quiet, and probably our favorite stop during our 9-day trip. There are no amenities but we still had some 4G Verizon signal down by the water's edge (not enough to stream, but could send a few pics to friends back home). While we won't find ourselves in this corner again for quite some time, I assure you that you'd be missing out if you didn't add this to your stops if you're in the area.

Small Campground but very climatically located on the Skagit River. Very dense vegetation protects against the sun and rain and is green all around. A very nice but humid campground. The campground does not have a shower room, but the restrooms are neat and clean. Good place to stay.

We got a campsite right by the river, and it was so peaceful. The site had enough room for our camp kitchen, screened tent and 8 person tent. Vault toilets were as clean as a vault toilets can be, and had hand sanitizer.

Pretty spot on the river with a raft launch. Little Smokey due to fires but free for winter so perfect spot!

My favorite campground, but do not book number 9 if you can help it. It is across from and perfectly downwind from the outhouse. There was no place I could find in the camp to escape it. I seriously would have been better putting my tent Inside the outhouse… It would’ve smell better.:(

It's open! Camping here June 25. And the big surprise is that its free right now. I don't know for how long, normally it's $16 night. Best for tents and smaller trailers.

Great spot in amongst the trees (obviously dreadful for solar). Loved hearing the river at night. Good for a few days. Will be back

This is a really nice and vibrant campground. There's a beach next to it as well.

Great place that isn't really well known, so it is still a hideaway. Lovely place to get away, have a fire and be near the river. Depending on which riverside site, it is either smooth and calm water...or the sounds of rushing water just near your site that help relax you to sleep. Awesome lil' nook in the woods and very affordable.

Alpine Adventures

2020-05

Alpine Adventures meets in the parking lot at the entrance to the campground where there is a turn around and a boat launch.Guide Tip: The campground has pit toilets that can get kind of smelly. We suggest using the nice bathrooms 1 mile up the highway in the town of Newhalem. There are brand new nice facilities with multiple flush toilets located on Main St at the Skagit Information Center.

It is July 28th, 2020, today. This campsite is still first come first serve and free. We left Seattle area at 8 a.m. and arrived here at 11 a.m. There were still a number if sites available. We were lucky to take a site right by the river. There are bear warnings here. Tall mountains, tall trees and clear Skagit river flowing by, it is a very great campground to enjoy.

One of my favourite campgrounds. Many sites have direct access to the Skagit River. Clean outhouses, very private sites. Bears, lots of bears, if you don't know how to coexist with the wildlife safely then this place may not be for you. But if you can respect their habitat then they'll pass right on by you no problem. There is a seperate day use and campsite area. Also a boat launch. Less than 5 min away from Newhalem. The local general store keeps short hours so go in with everything that you need unless you get there early on a work day.

A good campground, at entrance to North Cascades National Park. Very convenient location.

Nice little site right in the North Cascades. It's a first come first serve site like a majority of the national Park sites. Water and outhouses are available at the and there is a raft / kayak launch if you're interested in going down the river.

Lush Campground with some very private sites and some sites near the river. This is a great campground in the shoulder seasons when the national park campgrounds are closed. There is a bathroom and water available. You are just enough off the road and in the vegetation that the road noise is muted.

This is a first come first serve campground. Newhalem on the other side of the river is reservable. Everyother camp spot has running wster. Very nice day use picnic shelter next to the skagit river. Has pit toilets, no showers. Better recycling options would be nice.

Great campsite. A little small with the tent having to be so close to the bear locker. Well located for North Cascades activities.

It was cold and raining when I was there in early October. No fee, as the water was turned off. Very shaded sites. River access. Nice spot not far from the visitor center.

Gorgeous. However, in the winter months the water is turned off but you can still fill a pan from the river and boil on the grill.

Pretty campground and picnic shelter by the skagit river. Stopped for lunch in the shelter. Today (August 18, 2015) it is very smoky.
