The owner of this store is unfortunately not actually very knowledgeable about dog nutrition, and in my opinion could potentially be giving out harmful information to people about their pets. In the unexpected 20 minute conversation we had today he tried to convince me that dogs are carnivores that cannot digest any form of grain or plant protein.1) The protein found in plants and animals is the same thing, there is no such thing as a "plant" protein or an "animal" protein.2) Dogs are omnivores of the carnivora order; they are able to digest and absorb proteins from plants. Over the last 11,000 years they have evolved significantly in a divergence from wild wolves. Part of their domestication has included evolving to be able to absorb the nutrition they need from the foods that humans provided them.Regardless, all dogs are unique and despite what the owner of this store might want you to believe there is not a one-size-fits-all diet for dogs (or cats). If your dog does well on a grain-inclusive diet then you should feel comfortable walking into a pet store and asking for a product with grains, without being lectured for 20 minutes.

I've been shopping at About Pets the past 7 years and find items are in stock and prices reasonable: I prefer supporting small, local businesses rather than big box stores. I've found the operation friendly and sincere, occasionally quirky and even sometimes sharing a very strong POV, but Always consistently supporting natural, holistic processes while including main stream items for purchase.In one true medical emergency, I immediately located and purchased supplies within minutes of the tragedy, including a full assortment of hard and soft cones recommended by my vet. I mention this because on occasion I visit the big-box pet supply stores and consistently notice empty, picked-over shelves, none of the healthier, alternative-brands my household prefers, a lack of floor staff...and a consistent lack of cones-in-supply (really).

Thank you for telling and showing me all the different types of dog foods. Kalia #americanbully loves the Timberwolf brand. You can buy dog food here by the pound or the whole bag. Mix it up a bit for your pooches so they can live happy and healthy.

Came in for a brief look for certain food I've been buying, but was cornered by the owner and essentially shamed for buying only revolving proteins and not different brands every day. He preached high protein, and I started getting irritated and told him I had a dog that required low protein due to a certain bladder stone issue. He tried telling me my specialist vet was wrong and it was the minerals creating stones (wrong. This stone is linked to protein levels in the kidneys). I told him not all dogs need or even should have the highest proteins and not to make blanket assumptions but he truly will argue anything and everything you have to say. I have a pet store background and 100% do not listen to everything this guy has to say.Only 2 stars instead of 1 because he did give me a couple free food samples. Of course one of which, as many complaints state, is expired.

Went into this store awhile back but never got around to writing a review. We went looking if we could find our dogs food close by and not hugely marked up. Asked him about the brand and he proceeded to say he would never carry that brand and spent 45 minutes explaining how horrible we were for feeding our dog that brand and her skin issues were due to "toxins" in the dog food we were giving her.We actually switched to this brand of food because it helped with her skin. Guy has no idea what he is talking about and likes to shame customers as well as try to con them into buying his over priced expired food.I was too polite to tell him to shut up but should have so we slowly made our way to the door. As I was walking out I saw an entire stack of the exact brand and type of food we were looking for. Guy doesn't even know what he has in his store. Don't ever go here.

We walked in... checked it out. Nolan (store owner) has been in business for 32 years! That's proof positive that he's knows what he doing. I see lots of reviews here are mixed. I say go in and check it out.

Awesome pet store and the owner is super knowledgeable. I'm a cat person but unexpectedly took in a stray puppy recently and the owner was super helpful in recommending quality foods, bones and treats to chew on, a lovely bed, care items, etc. Highly recommend the store for all your pet's needs!

Nice stock save for the expired treats and food, check the date before you buy. Store owner also enjoys dishing out personal opinion as pet health advice. Stick to your veterinarian for pet health please, don't listen to a pet shop owner or anyone else without veterinarian credentials.I didn't like how he scoffed when I told him about my senior rescue dog's health, saying how I should have been giving her a specific item for her health and that it was "too late for her now" while rolling his eyes at me. I don't think he understands that a rescue animal normally means rescued from a previous situation. Overall interaction felt pretentious and left a bad taste in my mouth.

This guy likes to shame customers for feeding pets dry food. Happens every time I go in there over several years. Likes to quote all kinds statistics about how you shouldn’t be doing this or that. Very unprofessional. Not going back.

I stumbled upon this place because I was going to the Starbucks next door and ran in to kill some time. What a hidden gem! The man running the place was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and you can tell just from talking to him for a few minutes that he has a passion for animals and truly cares about the quality of what he's selling to his customers. Ended up buying a product he recommended after chatting with him about an issue I was having with my dog. It was a fairly inexpensive item but it was a total a game changer! This business definitely gained a new customer!

Certainly not what you may pay on Amazon, but way higher quality options that someone local vouches for. My favorite recommendations were for smaller companies making better products, always better than the big brands.

Love this place. Wanted to try something different for my dogs. The owner is so knowledgable about his brands that he has. I love that I can buy a smaller bag just to see how well my dogs take to it. He has a great selection of various proteins per brand. I can buy treats in "bulk" and reduce the use of plastic.

This place is very close to my house and it's very convenient. The guy who works there is beyond knowledgable and helped me out with all my questions for our new golden retriever, puppy. The prices for their raw bones are very reasonable and my pup is destroying it as I write this. Also, you can buy small amounts of food and test which food the pet likes. My dog refuses to eat one product but loves another!!! I'm glad I didn't buy an eighty dollar bag of that. Great place and very nice people.

If you want to learn about proper nutrition this is the place to go. Although the owner is not a warm, fuzzy type of guy he has extensive knowledge about the pet food industry. In a conversation with him I learned that he has taken many pet nutrition classes that were not sponsored by big pet food manufacturers. He is always aware of the latest issues concerning pet food. If healthy nutrition for your pets is your priority this is where you need to go. Take the time to talk to him and you will be as impressed as I am. It is well worth you time.

I am incredibly grateful to discover this store. I am helping my cat toward Health after a series of stresses and heath challenges. The owner, Nolan stayed open an extra 5 minutes for me to arrive. Everything that I had learned and more through research about healthy nutrition for my cat was confirmed by Nolan's vast knowledge and passionate shares. Nolan carries the best raw foods and took the time to help me understand many things....

Shop owner is a blessing and a curse. Very knowledgeable about dog food and the only place around that carries what my dogs eat. He can talk so don't be in a hurry. Only giving it 3 stars because I just bought the most expensive flea medication ever. $67 for a 3 pack of Frontline and I found out after I got home Amazon has for $28. Watch your prices if you shop here.

Went in to grab cat litter on the fly, saw me looking over all the choices and recommended something that was accompanied by a ton of knowledge behind it, and why it cost more, but the results were obvious almost instantly.The proprietor is extremely knowledgeable and shares our desire to keep our furry ones safe and healthy. Pick his brain, he has the answers and you'll love the results.

I've been shopping at about pets Lynnwood for about a year or so, the owner is extremely knowledgeable about pet food, and the truth about the pet food industry! The store has a great variety of QUALITY PET PRODUCTS! The owner has gone above and beyond to really help me out in a pinch too! So Thank you All About Pets! I hope that with the shelter in place order that the government will deem you a necessary business as you most definitely are! Our pets need better than grocery store isle "food"!!

Guy at the store front tried to sell me a cat harness I didn’t want (typical... okay), and proceeded to argue with me about the size and how it was too big and that he’s NEVER sold a large in that brand for 10 + minutes. I have a large and a medium, and two cats that are 15 lbs each. I told him 12+ times that I have tried both on each and only the large fits (barely). Wish I weren’t on a tight timeline because I wouldn’t have bought it here.

I just moved to the area a few months ago, and got tired of going to places like Petco. About Pets is less then a mile from me which is very convenient. The young lady that helped me was very knowledgeable and helped me a lot with my Boston Terrier who is my service dog. She took the time to not only help, but listen to me. We were able to get 1lb a food for my girl to try and she loves it. She also enjoys the elk antler. Will come back and recommend to others.

Stopped in to browse to kill some time. The guy working here was very chatty and friendly. But what I think was meant to be helpful (unsolicited) advice quickly became a tirade shaming certain brands of foods. I agree with other reviews that this guy seems very knowledgeable, but he sure seems eager to prove that to customers, in a very righteous way. I know my dogs, and I made a point of saying I know from experience about their particular special needs. They're very healthy and happy dogs. All I got was argument and condescending superiority from this guy. I won't be back.

The owner seems to have very biased opinions on many products, has that "my way is the best way" attitude that I don't appreciate. He gave me his negative opinion on a couple things I shared with him regarding bird nutrition, the information I have came from an avian veterinarian, go figure.

The gentleman that helped us was very knowledgeable about various types of harnesses for our dog, and he gave us good advice that we ultimately followed. The prices seem very reasonable for a boutique pet store.Their selection for dog food is outstanding btw!

Seriously double check the expiration dates on the products you buy from here. Found cans of wet cat food on a display rack that had been expired since 2016. All the guy could say was "Yeah, I know.". Wanted to help support a local small business, but this will not be the one.

Very knowlegable and friendly owner who stocks ONLY THE BEST dog foods. This is an understatement. I buy a brand from him called Timberwolf. I think he may be the only one who carries it locally. It smells amazing and my dog loves it! I highly recommend this store as well as the Timberwolf brand dog food.

I asked was for cheap dog food cause I'm out and I'm really broke right now.But it felt like he was trying to make me feel bad about the food I gave my dog. I'm sorry I can't afford excellent food for my dog sir. I really wish I could. Not everyone can afford it. But you don't have to make people feel bad for purchasing cheaper dog food. Maybe rephrase the way you say things in order to make it seem less offensive.

The place carries the best dog and cat food money can buy. And as for Nolan? Well which is more important to you, someone who is friendly and affable but ignorant? Or an grouchy and sometimes obnoxious introvert who can answer any and all questions related to the product/industry?As far as I am concerned friendly but ignorant is useless. It's nicer, sure. But my dog doesn't need a smiling face asking me about my day. He needs the best food I can get him. And Nolan is hands down the most knowledgeable person I have ever met and probably ever will meet. Who else knows that much about dog food? Petco? Please.Put your animals interests ahead of your discomfort with a grouch. They'll thank you for it with kisses.
