I came in to return items I'd purchased twice by mistake. I paid cash for the items & came in to return them at the same store I'd made the purchase less than 24 hour before. I was treated absolutely horrible. First I was told I would have to take the money back on a gift card because it was over $20, then I was told by the manager that she wouldn't take them back because of the sand in the bottom of the bag I was using to carry the items in. Not one item had been opened, all sealed, & no packages even had been damaged, just a pinch of sand at the bottom of the bag previously used by my kids at the beach. I was glared at & treated as if I had the plague. I am anemic so I was already insecure having to go back in the store when I'm not full of iron. I can't believe Safeway would allow their managers especially to disregard store policy just because they didn't like the way I looked (its the only reason I can come up with). I pulled everything out of the bag, had all receipts, my ID, & my safeway card number, all of which were asked for, each time assuming I wouldn't have it. Yet still, she (Bonnie I think was her name) had her hands up in the air saying she wasn't touching anything I had in my bag. I returned the items at the safeway less than 5 miles down the road, same bag, same conditions, & was paid back the cash in full without a problem. I hope additional training will be available to employees whom behave in a way that makes customers feel insecure about making purchases from Safeway, it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, we must not forget that. It's VERY OBVIOUS CERTAIN EMPLOYEES THINK ITS PART OF THE JOB TO PROFILE AND DISLIKE THOSE THAT DONT CONFORM TO THEIR WAY OF LIFE.

I tried to buy the strawberries that were advertised on sale on my mobile app. I found them in the store among others of the same brand and size with the sale advertised, so I tried to purchase them. They rang up at the regular price, not the sale price. When I asked the sales clerk why, they responded, saying the sale was for only one pound, not the 2 pound size. I advised them not to stock the 2 pound sized strawberries in the sales display. I didn't buy them, and I resent the feeling tricked into paying full price for the larger size, if I wasn't paying attention.

This is now the 2nd time we have had a bad experience at the pharmacy. The ladies there are always so rude, short and talk to you as if it’s an inconvenience to ask them a question. Worst customer service I’ve had in town. I get y'all are short staffed & overworked, but that is absolutely NO excuse to have an attitude when being asked a simple question. All staff in the pharmacy as well as at the customer service desk need to have their rude, disrespectful attitudes towards customers addressed, we will never step foot in this store again after today.

I have paid for the Fresh Pass but I am very disappointed in your app. It is down and not working more than 50 percent of the time. You really need to put some effort into making it usable especially seeing I've paid for a service that I have trouble accessing

I have favorite cashiers but won't mentione names! Some Safeway workers young men&women: stare w/a look as if u r not liked/welcomed, R rude & have an attitude. I shop more@ WinCo due 2 pricing but enjoy our local Safeway 4 selection, a quick buy or items on sale. Customer service is good 4 the most part. Thank u Delia 4 your alertness, kindness and taking care of customers in the correct order!

Safeway has been a member of Kelso, Washington for over 30 years (At different locations). However, this is also a problem when Tops was the only other grocery store in Kelso it forced Safeway to have a price war for their customers attention, since Tops left Kelso in 2002 Safeway has had the monopoly in Kelso for groceries meaning that the prices have been slowly raising over the last 15 years. In 2002 I recall the price of a double layer cake from the bakery at a price of $7.99, now it's nearing 12 or even 13 dollars, depending on the time of the week. Safeway fails to realize that their competition is winning over their customer base because of the options that they are offering. Walmart, Winco, and Fred Meyers all have installed Self Serve checkout after Safeway led the way in that field, only for them to know take it out and replace them with two "Express isles" which are never open when I go to get some food. There is more I could talk about, it's sad to see that Safeway is unable to see how they are losing the current price wars with their competition. The only reason I honestly go to Safeway anymore is to get my prescriptions filled and for the Sweet and Sour chicken. Other then that, I don't do my business there any longer. :(UPDATE 6/12/2017: About two weeks ago they reinstalled the self serve stations, which makes me scratch my head as to why they took them out to begin with. Hopefully, this is a turn around and maybe price drops will be next. Only time will tell.UPDATE 7/3/2017: On 7/1/2017 I went to Safeway to get some dinner, I was checking out the cold deli and they had a cut up sub sandwich priced at $4.00, I viewed this as a deal considering their all american subs are $6.99 so I grabbed it. I headed over to the checkout and when they scanned the UPC it came back at the price of $16.00, I told them that the sign said $4.00. I refused to purchase the sandwich at 4X the price that was advertised.Be careful, if you go to this branch of Safeway, make sure you visually confirm what the price is it seems that they are trying to trick people into paying extremely more for cheap objects.Pros: Self Serve CheckoutPros: Even though I didn't mention it, the pharmacy is decent.Pros: Courteous workers.Cons: Prices too high.Cons: Not enough open check out lanes.Cons: Major graffiti issue, also major panhandler problem. Can't get off the bus without being asked for cigarettes or money.Cons: The day before a major holiday, it's hell trying to get out of the store in a decent amount of time. Christmas Eve 2016, at 4pm, they had 3 lanes open on top of the self serve checkout, we only had two items and had to go back to the deli to cash out. Very sad.

Men’s bathroom has issues today. The layout of the store is like no other Safeway we have been in, making the entire, short shopping trip long and confusing. I had expected a larger Asian section since this community has so many Asians. Signage was better than most in some ways.

Good stock of variety! And lots of Manager in store sales where something almost every time you visit is put to $1-$2 on sale. It’s worth it to come in an shop on Friday’s where they have $5 $6 $7 $8 $9 $10 deals. The app definitely saves you lots of money too! Safeway accepts all forms of payment including virtual payments with you phone like apple or google pay.

Ordered a cake a week in advanced. I asked for a cake similar to the premade ones in the case, but with the candies around the edge so that "Happy Birthday Dad" could be written on the cake in the middle. When I went to pick it up, "Happy Birthday Dad" was written on the top of a piece of clear plastic that was sitting on top of the cake. This seemed very unprofessional to me, almost as if they had just taken a premade cake out of the case instead of making mine the way I had requested, but I was on my way to the party so I just let it go. Upon cutting into the cake at the party, it had the wrong type of filling. I was very disappointed.

It's a clean store and clean restrooms.Some of the best produce in the area, quick eat Chinese food is pretty good for what it is. The Bakery is dank though.Prices are a little high, but as always Safeway is not going to let up on their prices and caters to the upper echelons anyhow!.

Wonderful experience, there was no doughnuts at all. I saved $ by clipping coupons, to my phone. Some items are very expensive, but I got a free half gallon of milk . And got 4 packs of meat 4 $20. I wish you didn't have save coupons to phone to save. Other then that great store.

Have to buy two for discount of nothing. Prices not the same at the register as on the shelves.Check your receipt. If you check your receípt you will see your getting ripped off at the register every time. I have to take my receipt to customer service to have them waist my time correcting all the over priced items that are priced differently on the shelf then at the register as I mentioned. Don't shop there unless you like having paying three times the price while having to get two of everything so they can overcharge you twice at the till. Good luck. Hope you have lots of time to spend at customer service to have they honor the prices advertised on the self

Always good selection and when you use club card usually good deals. If you have the app their is even more ways to save with the digital coupons. Great happy friendly workers but sometimes they seem short staffed with like one or two checkouts open. But they are quick most of the time.

Not sure if he was having a bad day... but as a manager, you should know not bring your problems to work!Having gone back here, nothing has really changed. Shelves are always empty, the cashiers all seem very friendly. Management not so much.Customer service provides terrible customer service....Getting someone from the Deli takes a few minutes, if you're looking for someone from seafood/meat department go elsewhere, cause they run at the sight of customers with questions.

Prices are a bit higher than other options, but if you live in Kelso this is definitely the most convenient place to pick up the one or two things you forgot when buying your groceries. Staff are pleasant and the store is clean. I really like the clearance sections, wish more stores did that instead of letting things expire.

There's a lot of good deals here if you keep an out on the newsletter and app. The store is really clean and the bakery desserts are excellent, although they need to make more of the chocolate Boston cream cake.

Store is fine nice layout easy to find things store staff are helpful. Your pharmacist takes for ever to be found so I could simply pick up (5) antibiotics pills for my dentist after care. Recommend a different place for prescriptions

Don't order asian food deli items, stick to american stuff, deli asian is flavorless and not good texture. The staff is usually slow to responding to liquor items and customer service, so don't bother with the ordering of nicotine items.
