Stunning views, serene atmosphere, and stellar service! A beautiful inn tucked away in scenic Index with epic mountains looming just over the river. We stopped in for brunch on the porch with our dog. Not only was the food (and our lavender & blood orange mimosas) delicious, but everyone was extremely friendly. They made some great recommendations and brought out bacon for our dog & a surprise strawberry cheesecake because my partner mentioned we were vacationing for her birthday. A little slice of heaven hidden in the lower Cascades. Absolutely recommend.

My family and I ate here on a whim, with no idea what to expect. We were greeted with a beautiful and cozy atmosphere, that felt like being in the home of a loved one. Our waiter, Fabian, was so kind and accommodating! The food was absolutely incredible! The salmon was quite possibly the best salmon we've ever eaten. Our kids said it deserved 10 stars! Fabian made the entire experience that much more delightful. We cannot wait to be able to come back and enjoy another meal here!

We had an absolutely magnificent dinner at North Fork Kitchen. If you find yourself in Index, WA. It was an incredible experience, and we hope to visit again at some point. The entire staff is very friendly and welcoming. Several of them provided food recommendations and spoke with us throughout our dinner. Our server was Grant who also serves as the bartender, and he was so friendly and welcoming to us throughout our entire dinner! We chose to dress up to celebrate our 1st anniversary, but we enjoyed how welcoming it is for everyone - whether you’ve been hiking or exploring during the day or enjoying a fancy dinner out.The appetizers were absolutely incredible. We enjoyed the salmon cakes and the mushroom goat cheese flatbread. For entrees, we shared the ravioli and the steak. The sauces were incredible on each, and we really enjoyed all our food! Finally, we ended the evening with an incredible cheesecake topped with fruit. We highly recommend stopping by and enjoying everything - from the food to the staff to the view!

My daughter treated me to North Fork Kitchen in Index after a hike. The place is rustic and inviting. Our server was very friendly, yet formal. My daughter ordered steak and I ordered salmon. My salmon was seared and served with pureed vegetable sauce. It was divine. My daughter enjoyed her steak as well. The food was gourmet quality at a reasonable price. We will be coming back often.

Wonderful food. Came at lunchtime on a Monday and was surprisingly slow for how good this food was. I got the steak sandwich with a light horseradish sauce and arugula. The included fries were exceptionally awesome. My partner got the salmon flatbread which I'd also recommend. Finished with a cheese cake that had a lighter flavor but still very good.

My husband and I were so excited to visit North Fork kitchen for our wedding anniversary after it had been lovingly restored. The ambience was warm and friendly, the service was kind and attentive, and the menu thoughtful and balanced. We ordered some local cider and beer, a carrot and fennel salad, a chicken dish with rum sauce and rice, and a cod dish with roasted vegetables. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we also appreciated the nice touches like fresh flowers. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in Index or passing through on Highway 2.

We had such a wonderful meal at North Fork Kitchen. We’d gotten engaged earlier that day, they made the night so special with a congratulatory cheesecake to finish our meal! Everything we had was very fresh and delicious, the fries were a highlight along with the cod + root vegetables and flank steak. If you’re looking for a nicer sit down meal in Index, it’s a must.

Cute restaurant at the newly renovated Bush House hotel in Index. Super friendly and attentive service, beautiful views of the mountains and a great place to relax. We wanted to eat outside for the views and they carried a table to the front for our party of 5! Cocktails were delicious (get the cosmo and Negroni) and dishes were great. Kids scarfed down the burger - their FRIES are amazing!!!! Have never had fries with that cut before. Loved the small town feel and seeing the same people work at the restaurant, the adjacent outdoor adventures, and the hotel! It was such a delightful place. Wrap around porch was fun for people watching and hanging out. Quick walk back to our Airbnb.

After a hike we just wanted a cold beer. We found this lovely restaurant right in the little town of Index. Who would have thought we would find such excellent quality food in the “middle of nowhere”? We had a nice conversation with the chef. He has worked all over the world and is now in love with this little town. Give it a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed.Vegetarian options: We had a fennel and carrot salad, tomato soup and carrot cake that were all very good.

We've been here a few times now. This place is the Secret of Index!! The dining room is very comfortable, clean, and inviting. The service is personal, and the food here is scrumptious!!. There is no other restaurant like this for 50 miles, no exaggeration. We've lived by Index for several years and have tried every restaurant in the area including Monroe. We come from a place in our nation that has the finest dining at EVERY restaurant. Last night we thought we would try the hamburgers. The best I have had aside from my own homemade burgers!! I had the Black and Blue burger which is a combo of seasoning and blue cheese .For dessert we enjoyed the lemon pound cake...outstanding!! As always, they have good wine to pair with your meal. Amazing how this place is soooo delicious, yet not many people know of it..I have mixed feelings...I want to tell everyone about it, yet I also want to keep it quiet so I always have a table!!! Stop by on your way in or out of Steven's Pass and it too will become your favorite dining experience...the Secret of Index!!!

My wife & I are thankful to have found this charming restaurant - and it was open for Christmas evening supper! We certainly did not sample everything on this nice menu, but the homemade pot roast and farm salad were both outstanding. This is such a quaint, rustic but in a clean modern sense and, I would say cozy place to enjoy good food. We were fortunate to have the owner Fabian be our personal host, waiter, bartender and likely chef that night! He and his wife are good people, globally travelled, who have character and a passion for what they offer at this restaurant.I did enjoy a glass of wine and it appears they have a well stocked liquor cabinet. We will make this a regular destination as the ambiance, the historic building and the personable owners make this a perfect retreat from the cold and frenzied world. They do have a real espresso machine and it will go great with their Basque cheesecake :)Kid-friendliness: Unless you want a $16 burger for your kids, I'd recommend this as a better date night with your spouse, or a place to enjoy with your adult friends.

This place was such a hidden gem. The Bush House has been so beautifully restored. North Fork was simply delicious. We were spending a birthday weekend in Gold Bar on the river and decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed at all. The salmon was outstanding and the chimchurri skirt steak was equally as delicious. If you are your family are ever passing through and have an empty belly, I highly recommend stopping in.

Talk about a hidden gem! This place is amazing. Fabian, the chef, has cooked all over the world and uses what he’s learned in Mexico, France, Turkey, Spain, Africa, Houston and Seattle to create an incredible menu full of diverse, rich flavors. Well worth a short detour off Highway 2, or even a drive from Seattle, to get a fabulous meal for very reasonable prices.

Swung by this place for lunch after skiing at Steven's Pass in the morning. The food was exceptional. Fabian, the chef, came out and chatted with us, then went back in the kitchen and made one of the best burgers and (country farm) salads I've had in the Seattle area. Additionally, they were able to accommodate our picky toddler with some off menu food (amazing hot cocoa and toast with peanut butter). We will definitely make this place a regular stop on our ski trips. Behind the inn there are amazing views of mount Index and the Index wall. This place just rocks.Kid-friendliness: Perfect for kiddos, especially if they are picky with food.

Stopped by here last weekend after a motorcycle ride down Rieter Road and had a great experience! I ordered the Mushroom Swiss and jalapeño burger and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were all very nice and attentive. Everything was clean and the restaurant has a warm cozy feel to it. Would love to make a reservation one day soon, it would be a great place to rest after exploring the surrounding wilderness.

Kids loved to play in the backyard corn hole game and shared a cheese sandwich which was pretty big and more than enough for kids.I got a Chicken basil pesto sandwich which was delicious.Parking was a little bit challenging on the weekend because of hikers in the area but still street parking was an option with some walking.

Having dinner here on a random Monday after some spring snow sporting with a family of 9 was an unexpected treat!A delicious meal and conversation from the Sr. Executive Chef, Fabian Arana, whose skills had us debating spending the night in the inn after our food coma began to set in...We highly recommend finding yourself in the area to experience this hidden gem for yourself 🙏

Excellent food, great service. We dined here on a warm Sunday evening while waiting for US 2 traffic to abate. When we arrived, many patrons were at small tables out on the veranda.Note that one must turn off US 2 and drive one mile north in order to reach the town of Index.Parking: Lots of street parking right in front of the restaurant.

We enjoyed a FANTASTIC NYE dinner at the North Fork Kitchen . The basil ravioli's sauce is sublime (and you can drag your roasted vegetables through it). The Basque cheesecake dessert is perfection...purely fruit sweetened, beautiful presentation, perfect serving size. I want one every day! 🍰Vegetarian options: Always a seasonal vegetarian option.

This place is a hidden gem just a mile off Highway 2 in Index, WA. Had an excellent meal here - hard to choose from all of the great looking items on the menu, with several seasonal vegetarian and pescatarian options. I ended up with a delicious meal of buffalo cauliflower (with gorganzola and shaved celery!), a roasted mushroom and bleu cheese salad, and roasted vegetables. The drinks were wonderful, too! There are definitely options for the meat-eaters, too - my mouth was watering for the peanut butter and jelly bacon burger! The service was superb, the ambiance was cozy and inviting, and we were tempted to have another glass of wine and stay the night in the Bush Inn hotel instead of driving the 1.5 hours to Seattle. Decided to push on this time, but we'll be back when ski season opens to try the brunch menu and visit the historic hotel!Vegetarian options: Lots of creative vegetarian dishes, like buffalo cauliflower and a roasted mushroom and kale salad. A roasted mushroom entrée, and some interesting salads with shaved root vegetables looked appealing too!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options, vegetarian, vegan
