This is a nice trail that you can do before of after hiking Heybrook Lookout if you want to add some miles to your day. It's not a super popular trail, so you could have it mainly to yourself.

Great hike for beginners, especially if you're looking for a view. Trail in good condition. Usually not too busy and there is ample parking. No day pass required as it is a county park. Takes about 45 mins to get to the top and view is worth it!

Great hike! It wasn’t a clear day for us but still a great hike-enough tree coverage to shield us from the rain/snow. Lots of switchbacks, bit of muddy areas yet, no snow! Good workout for a hike-Avid hikers will be easy-new hikers-great starter hike! Great outlook at the top!

Short, relatively simple hike with great views. Can be snowy during winter, but low elevation gain helps keep it attainable. Views of Mt. Index are unbeatable, especially with snow on it, plus you can see Bridal Veil Falls, and other peaks including Baring. If the gate is closed, just park across the bridge by the Index park and public restroom.

Pretty nice easy hike, we took our baby and puppa up there. Route was fairly quite even on a Saturday afternoon. The view from the top was great and the actual hike was shaded and cool on a hot day.

Great hike to do with kids if you're bored of lowland forest hikes. We took advantage of the fake summer to enjoy the beautiful warm sunny day. Wanted to avoid the crowds of all the other usual suspect hikes that would be crowded madhouses. The trail was still busy with people, including kids, and dogs. Most people were conscientious and kept space and face coverings. Some great spots to stop asking the way, including tiny waterfalls that will likely be dried up by summer.Nicely made and maintained switchbacks will accommodate most hikers.A wonderful view up the valley at the end featuring snowy peaks, violently red flowering currant, and a territorial rufus hummingbird. We also saw garter snakes, osprey, and a variety of birds.

Took me 1.5h there and back, taking my time. It's a pretty easy trail. Pretty nice view at the top but there are massive power lines above the whole "summit" which sort of taints the natural scenery. They buzz loudly and it can't be good to be around then for too long. If you are sensitive to EMFs, you obviously should not do this hike. Not too many people on the trail even on a super clear, beautiful day. June 22, 2020.

This place was amazing! Quite the steep hike up but apparently we went the wrong way so if you find the actual Trailhead and go that way it's supposed to be easier...

A well maintained trail with splendid views for relatively little effort. I believe the best view of the ridge is about 3.3 miles round trip. There is wild life in the forest and no real views till the top. Unfortunately massive electrical lines are strung through the forest just before the view making it feel less natural. I've heard car break-ins are frequent in here so don't leave anything valuable for the thieves!

Easy place to get to and for beginning hikers a nice challenging hike. I thought it was a little weird that the end is around crackling power lines. Loved the view!

I hiked this trail on a sunny afternoon in September. The trail is pretty monotonous with a steady climb. The view at the top is much less impressive than it is from the town of Index. We were pretty disappointed.

Absolutely gorgeous, and not too busy. Making it up and down highway 2 is a bit of a mess but it’s so worth it to make it to this beautiful location.

Way nicer than expected. A steep trail with numerous switchbacks and a stream crossing. Spectacular views as a payoff.

Great moderate difficulty hike to very nice views of mount index and bridal veil falls. Hike through pine and cedar forest was impressive.

Nicer than expected and not crowded at all! Found parking easily during Saturday noon. The trail is just the right milage and elevation gain for our family and puppy loved it! Even it’s not very steep climbing you still get to see panoramic mountain view at the ridge.

They have a bench... Reminds me of Narnia for some reason. Except for some noisy power lines at the top :( great trail though!

This hike is pretty easy overall. The trail is mostly just compact dirt with some stepping stones here and there. It’s well marked and maintained with even a bench at the .75 mile mark if your tired. The view once you get to the top is stunning but my favorite part of this hike was the trail. It was very scenic and you felt like you entered a different forest several times. Overall a fantastic hike and hidden gem!

Great trail work! Good views. Not my kind of hike. I dont want to drive for 1.5 hrs to hike 2 hrs round trip, and not claim a peak. Id rather hike a peak out rt 2. But, you get stellar views, and it would be a great hike for folks starting out, or for folks with kids.

Came here on a weekday afternoon, no cars in the parking lot around 4PM. Hike was pleasant, not too steep, not too many things to look at either. View at the top was just alright, lots of power lines. We kept walking along the path but didn't really get anywhere, then just walked back down.
