Simple: they make the best fried fish I've ever had. The halibut especially. It's not rocket science, but so many places overfry, or use the wrong batter, or freezer-burned chunks of mysterious whitefish. This isn't overdoing it at all: in an age where expensive equates with quality, and lunch is at least $20, ordered on an app without interaction with staff you are oddly expected to tip, do yourself a solid, make a trip to Al's Humdinger and transport yourself back to the 1980s, sit on the tailgate of your truck next to the river in the gravel parking lot, and bask in the glory of baskets of fries and clams and scallops served piping hot. No touch screens required. Don't sleep on the tater salad either...everything is great here!

Not a fancy place but they have the best burgers!! Be sure to ask for extra napkins because they are deliciously messy. The staff are friendly and quick...and constantly cleaning. Can't wait to take the grandkids this summer.Parking: Parking on either side of the building...can park in back and watch the river as well.

Update,I stopped by on Saturday afternoon after fishing at Lake Aberdeen, and they had the two items I wanted. I got a large mushrooms and a large buzzard. They were hot and delicious. A bit heavy on the salt, but good with ice-cold lemonade.=========This is a nice pit stop with a good selection of fast food. However, on our way back from Seaside, Oregon to Seattle, WA my wife and I tried calling multiple times before stopping by no one picked up the phone. It was Tuesday around 3 pm we decided to stop by for two things; fried mushrooms and gizzard. They ran out of gizzards. So, we ordered the mushrooms and headed home. It was one of those things/ days, it took us a little over an hour or so just to make it across the bridge. Traffic was heavy.I would have given this place another star if I got the fried gizzard and a restroom for the customers to use. The long trip there is not worth it unless you are on your way to or from the ocean shores. This doesn't make any difference, but the waiter took food to others sitting in their cars. Ours, the waiter made some gestures for us to go and get our food from the little window, knee-high.We love their food and will stop on our way to the shores or when we go fishing in the area.Parking: Free parking from the sides, and back of the restaurant, but it's limited.

This place reminds me of the little old hamburger stand of a time gone by. At first bite I was brought back to child summer memories eating a burger in the tall grass.Great food, mushrooms are done right. Fries could stand a minute more in the fryer to get crispy but it's a cute little place. It's a small place, you go inside and place order then need o wait in your car for order to be done then they knock on the window to get your attention then you go get food. Lots of choice on the menu too. Great little find.Parking: You may have to park in back but that's fine you will have a nice view.

The halibut and chips were two very small pieces of fish. Saw a sign on the building that they were voted "best fries", I don't see how because they were mediocre. The fish was at least good quality and fried perfectly, just a really small portion for over 15 bucks. The raspberry milkshake was just raspberry syrup and vanilla ice cream, waste of money, and not even worth the calorie splurge, I just threw it in the garbage you also got a single bite of coleslaw with the halibut and chips "dinner". For size reference, it was served in a small condiment sauce container with a lid.

4.75 stars I love the burgers we had onion rings and fried mushrooms as well. Disappointed in the size of onion rings. I'm pretty sure I just paid a dollar per onion ring got 5 onions rings on the small side. My advice, great place to eat just avoid the onion rings. It was the only disappointment we suffered. Great food and friendly people and good prices, again just stay away from the onion rings.

Don't let the small, simple look fool you, this is one of the best places to get some old-style drive-in food. Burgers are excellent, fries always hot and salty, and milkshakes are tasty. Prices are incredibly reasonable! The line/wait can vary, but they do take phone-in orders if you're in a bit of a hurry. Views of the river and bridge from the outdoor seats as well.

While it is true there is no dine in, there is an outdoor table with a lovely water view. This is your basic all American burger, fries, fried food with excellent milk shakes. So far, I've had the Bacon Cheeseburger, Haliwich, fried mushrooms, banana split; enjoyed everything but the mushrooms, but I think that was my fault, I only enjoy mushrooms so much and this was the first time I've had them fried. Plan to be back, looking forward to the clam strips, prawns, and a malt!

Very fast service, along with being very friendly and helpful. Food was quick and made exactly to order. Burgers have a thin patty that packs some flavor along with all the toppings and sauces. Make sure to keep it in the wrapper to avoid a mess!

Ehhhhh, typical high school fry house. This place was not worth the review hype as far as we all were concerned.Fryer dose good but they fry everything in the same oil and you can taste it.We got a clam strip basket (good but run of the mill frozen). Chicken strip basket was good and run of the mill, coleslaw is good. Hot dog, its old school hot dog sandwich style and run of the mill. Onion rings are blah...no flavor, not very crunchy and bland for some reason. Last but not least...the bacon deluxe burger, bland and overdone bacon. The window service girls are friendly and good service but the older lady with the short dark hair was just impatient and very rude! Banging on the window and being short with people waiting to het there food. You have to try new places but this one.....NOT recommended.

This place is an awesome classic Burger stop. The burgers are not anything to die for in my opinion but definitely are well made. The fries are great and the fries Sauce is definite must try! The strawberry shake was okay and the chocolate shakes were spot on! The size of the shakes i would say are not a large. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get a solid meal at a reasonable price and looking to support a local Mom and pop business! We stopped by on our way to Pacific Beach and were not disappointed!

Great food and lively service, I love their seafood options and their fish and chips are the best in town for sure!! Great burgers and fries as well and they have great desert options my favorite being the milkshakes! Also being next to the river gives great views whilst waiting for your food.Parking: They have a pretty decent parking lot.

Great old-school burger walkup. Ordered a humdinger with cheese, small ring and a green river (On tap! I know, right?!). Got the burger with "everything" and took me a minute to figure out the sweet flavor (sweet relish). Very happy with everything.I would personally toast the bun a touch more, and next time I would skip the sweet relish, but to each their own.

This is the coolest old-school drive in. It's not a drive thru, you walk inside to place your order and then wait outside or in your car until they wave to you to come get your order.I had the Hum-Dinger burger, onion rings, and a chocolate shake. They offer quite a few things besides hamburgers, so everyone can find something they like. They also have ice cream that seems to be popular on its own.I was there during the dinner rush but no worries, the place is a well oiled machine, old school style. The folks taking orders and doing the food prep were getting it done! My order was ready in about 3 minutes and everything was made perfectly and delicious. Great experience & great food.

Classic greasy spoon, loved it! Walk up order counter, quick service on burgers and clam strips for four. Took them across the street to eat in the playground park and then came back for milkshakes. Cute old school diner in small town America.
