3 stars is giving them the benefit of the doubt because they were so nice and I know that they are working on updating things. I think this motel will soon merit the 4 star average that it currently has but I don't think it is there yet. I'll start with the bad but read to the end to hear the good. I was in room 2 (which I give a 1 star rating) and it was in bad shape. It had fake wood paneling on the walls, the carpet needs to be replaced badly, the window shades are falling apart, half of the outlets next to the bed didn't work, the lamp next to the bed didn't work because it was plugged into one of said outlets, paint is chipped and scratched, furniture is pretty beat up, I had to kill a spider and there were flies in the room, and the motel is so close to the highway that you can't park your car perpendicular to the hotel or it will stick out into the highway. This obviously means that there is road noise in the room, luckily there is not much traffic. On the bright side the floor in the bathroom is new and the shower was clean and the bed was comfortable. On the even brighter side if you are going scuba diving this place is about as close to the water as you can get. They also have a warm room to hang up your wet suit in between dives. There is a hot tub to warm up after your dive. The visibility in the winter (I went in December) was great. There are plenty of places to keep your gear. There are lots of cool things to see just off shore. So although I was in a room that had not been renovated yet I would go there again if I was going diving because it is so conveniently located and has such a beautiful view.

The beds in the renovated rooms are incredibly comfortable!! Don’t expect fancy breakfasts or huge rooms but their amenities were plenty for us as we dove from their immediate access and Sund Rock. The new owners are very nice and flexible with needs. They have a drying room, outdoor shower, plenty of parking, air fill ups, and BBQs! This is a great hub for the diving community.

Payed over $200 for a room that included the $20 non refundable pet deposit.The T.V. was beside the fridge in the kitchen and you are only able to watch it on the far side of the couch.American hotels-motels usually provide you with the choice of viewing T.V. from the bed.The sunrises are beautiful any time of the year there from the balcony.

First off this place is set up for people who dive. I do not dive myself but I can blow some mean bubbles given a glass with liquid and the proper straw. Look past the superficial stigma most motels have and you'll see the quality in how simple and relaxing it allows you to feel. It's hard to explain really. It feels like home with a shell beach and salmon hatchery view. ITS BEING REMODELED. The construction looks great the coffee and espresso bar is pretty good but the best addition ive seen the woman who works the front desk. An actual person with a welcoming smile and 0 attitude if you bug her at night for stupid things like wifi password or plastic forks. If you read this review just go rent a room my words don't do it justice.

Definitely get a remodeled room.Biggest thing to remember, big truck traffic rumbles by your room starting at 5-6am.Real comfy bed, nice sheets.But this place is All about the sunrise view over the water.

Avoid at all cost! This place is falling down - no joke. The floor moved at least an inch when we walked on it - we got video. In some spots there were holes in the floor that were poorly patched with a rug or another piece of plywood. Roof sagging in many spots. There was mold on the walls, the toilet and sink leaked in the bathroom. The smell was so bad, we had to buy an air freshener. Absolute nightmare. We ended up leaving as soon as we could.Only good thing was the view of the water and the people were friendly.Rooms: Smell of decades of smoke and mold.Safety: You constantly feel like you're going to fall through the floor. The balcony wiggles when you touch it. I cannot believe they are allowed to operate like this.Walkability: Not walkable at all. Right off a main busy road and not really sidewalks to walk on. Dangerous.

Came for my open water scuba certification. The staff was super nice and knowledgeable about the area. It was amazing being able to exit my room and be three steps from the stairs to the water. None of my dives were longer that 25 minutes, but in that time we saw a giant pacific octopus, plumose anemone, crinoids, sea stars, a sea bat, flat fish, and a variety of other fish species so there is lots to see right by the resort!

First off, the view is amazing. All the rooms on the water. It's priced good at $175 after taxes for the remodeled room. You can tell they are putting effort into increasing the places value, so I gave the room 3 stars. The service is amazing. Friendly front desk, the groundskeeper was super kind. No complaints. The hot tub is 1 unit for all rooms, it's in a good spot, but it isn't working well (jets and heater). I enjoyed my soak though so I am not complaining. Had the rooms been busier I can see not having access to the tub and it was the selling point for me. Maybe add another for a "suite". This place has some amazing potential. I needed to rest from my Olympic road trip and found this place perfect. If they changed a few things, I'd label this top notch. Great job guys, keep it up.

The updated rooms are so pretty! They are making their way through all the rooms. Great spot for scuba. Look for the sunken boats and cool sea life. The staff is so friendly and love that they are dog friendly.Nearby activities: Great spot to put in for beginner scuba divers. Cool life to explore. Also walking distance to town, though you have to walk along 101 it's very convenient.

This place is a dive!!!! No pun intended. We were looking for a place to stay that would be great for scuba diving and that’s the only thing this place has going for it. You’re right on the water gorgeous view extremely easy access to the water and the diving is decent. As for the motel it is horrible!!!. No AC, Stains on the carpets the walls need paint smells musty. We did stay in the cheaper room that wasn’t remodeled. The remodeled rooms are probably better I would recommend getting them. The worst part is the walls are paper thin!!!!!!! Our room was right next to the Highway and traffic blows by all night long and kept my wife up. She didn’t sleep for 2 days. The people that were outside you could there conversations which also kept her up. You could also hear the neighbors tv. It was like we had our doors and windows open when we didn’t. We will never stay at this place again. It’s a shame because it’s got a wonderful view. And the staff does seem to care about the place. If the walls could block out the noise this would be a great place.

What a great location and fun atmosphere. Yes the building is old and furniture may not match, but it is extremely clean new mattresses, new bed linens very nice quality and new towels. They even provide propane for the grill. This place is so fun you meet others and watch the divers take their class. Seals are swimming as well. I just loved our short stay and plan on staying here more often.

Friendly and easy booking and check-in, zero wait. Room was equal to the only other hotel I’ve stayed at in the area, or nicer because of the dark curtains and lack of bright sun coming in (nobody in the area has AC and it gets hot in the summer, but this room was comfortable in early July).I didn’t get to dive while here, but they have easy access just steps from the room to the water.Short walk to the main town area with a grocery store and several restaurants and tourist attractions.

This was a last minute booking but I ended up really enjoying the view. The rooms were clean and nicer than I expected. I loved that it had stairs straight into the water. Only down side is it was kinda pricey with no food included. But overall I had a good time.Noteworthy details: Water front rooms

We had a great stay. Quiet an peaceful. We needed a night away from the norm an this was it! The room fridge and bathroom were very clean.😁😁 Small shower an bathroom, single king bed sparse furniture, but more than adequate for our needs. The table in the room could be bigger use the dresser if your sitting with a plate of food.😂😂 You're not sitting at the table in the room and eating dinner.😉 Tons of TV/cable channels. Good internet speed. The hot tub was great an relaxing. Wonderful view from both room an hot tub. I was surprised with the noise from the highway just outside the door it wasn't bad at all. Blinds kept almost all the light out.😉 An the last two items but not least by any means. The bed! Wonderful slept great an longer than we have in what seems like years. Watch the bottom part of the frame it's a shin killer👍😁 An the best for last. Dot an the staff were very polite an accommodating, amidst trying to do many more upgrades. I don't know if I would bother with room upgrades for ones that people want their pets with them. We've stayed places that didn't allow pets inside with ours. They slept in the truck.😁 You've just got to be diligent about letting them out to go to the bathroom or a drink. Good luck with all of your repairs an endeavors.You don't know how hard it was to check out an not just stay another night this morning.we would have if at all possible. Wonderful little place we will be back. This place is a gem!It was exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking. The views are amazing and the hot tub could not have been more perfect.We stayed in one of the old rooms that had not been remodeled yet. It was nothing to write home about but the beds were surprisingly comfortable! I imagine once the remodeling process is done the rooms will match the view.The staff was extremely helpful and all of the women who were working were amazingly friendly, hardworking and efficient. I could tell that they all seem to enjoy their job.We enjoyed it so much that we paid the extra fee for a late check out and enjoyed every last minute of it! They were even kind enough to provide guest laundry facilities with complimentary soap and dryer sheets.We can not wait to come back and bring the whole family!Book this place. You will not regret it.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. But the room we got was in a very bad shape. The sofa-bed was not made ready for us (2 adults and 2 children), so we had to do it ourselves. But clearly no one had slept in that bed for decades. The madras was non existent and it felt like sleeping directly on hard metal springs. The room smelled really bad. For the price we paid the room standard was nowhere near what to expect. We cut our stay short by 2 nights and booked a Best Western nearby.

Great spot on the Hood Canal. Water side, water view. New ownership working on remodeling the property. It's also a diving resort. Outdoor sitting furniture was nice for the sunrise view. Outdoor hot tub (covered) with an awesome view. Gas grills. Pretty neat property. Can't wait to see how the full remodel turns out!Rooms: Room was clean with microwave, small refrigerator, TV with streaming apps. Washroom was small. We liked the soft bed linens too.

Honestly, it was a great location for our scuba diving club to hold a weekend-long event. 4 units were rented - 2 that were already remodeled and two 1 bedroom kitchen units that were not. The units not yet remodeled were old but clean and perfectly serviceable. The bedding was quite nice. The remodeled units are very attractive! You can request a specific unit if you call to make your reservation.It was great to be able to have air and nitrox fills on site and then walk straight into the water for scuba diving.In the lobby are espresso and pizza options. Pizza was delivered to our rooms. Our rooms also came with small coffee pots.What you're really going to appreciate here is that incredible view. Each of the units had full water views and balcony or patio seating options. Hottub is also right along the waterfront, as are the bbq units. The staff are fantastic and readily share with you what's been updated and what's next on the renevation agenda.If you're into diving, snorkeling, or fishing, this place may be right up your alley. Did I mention the bald eagles, ducks, and harbor seals? We will surely be back.

~This review concerns the newly renovated rooms and ownership~Loving the renovated rooms and can't wait till they renovate the kitchenette ones. The new owner is awesome and super helpful and is really dedicated to making the place awesome. Had a Scuba open water class this past weekend and can't wait till the new dock gets approved and installed! The old boat that was there is now an underwater wreck (yay). As always, really good air fills on site!!

My wife and I have stayed at Sunrise Resort several times now and our visits have always exceeded our expectations. If your looking for a Hilton-type experience, this is not for you. If your looking for a hotel in a beautiful place that feels like a cabin in the woods, this is the place. If your a diver, this is a great place to dive and then relax in the hot tub. There are several sunken boats to see and a map to help locate them. There are a lot of dive schools that use the resort so its good to call 4-6 weeks ahead of time to book a room. They provide tank fills on-sight and there is a dive shop close by. The room we like is maby 40ft from the stairway leading into the water. The owners are always attentive to our needs and ensure that our stay is the best it can be. They are working on remodeling the hotel to make it more modern but I love the feel of the older rooms. The only con is the parking. You must really be careful pulling in and out of the parking spaces. We plan to continue staying and diving at Sunrise. Thank you for always making us feel comfortable and welcome.

Room was a pretty simple and standard and normal motel room.The dive site was a lot of fun and convenient and the staff was excellently helpful.Our tanks were refilled minutes after we got out of the water then being able to rinse our gear and warm up in the hot tub under the moon light made for a fantastic time. Will likely be coming to stay with them again!

There is a beautiful view from the motel, and staff at check in were very helpful and welcoming. However, the room I booked was desperately in need of some renovation. The bathroom was moldy, there was no A/C, no bug screens on the windows that were difficult to open. Everything was shabby. It was not a good experience for me.

When I first pulled up to the place, I was taken off guard because it didn’t seem like what their website or pictures made it out to be. It looked a bit rundown and they were doing renovations in the front office so the manager just came out to check us in and brought us to our room on the backside, facing the water. The grounds were pretty bad back there too… run down, in need of maintenance and updating. I got the Delux King room and it was clean and nicely updated. It looks exactly as pictured. The bathroom is very small… sitting on the toilet is a struggle because of how close the wall in front of it is. Either way, I enjoyed the room. The bed was actually the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on! The people running the place were nice and there is a dock out to the water that had a seal lounging on it. The morning was beautiful when the mist came in and it completely made up for any downfalls of the property. Like I said, they were renovating so I think the place will only get better. Keep in mind there aren’t many restaurants nearby and the ones that are have mostly fried, cheap food. I was surprised at the lack of seafood in the area… that’s not the resorts fault, but just something to keep in mind on location.
