This past Saturday, my husband and granddaughter visited Goldendale Reindeer LLC in Goldendale, WA. They had a wonderful time as hosts Dan and Tanya showed them around the property, introducing them to their animals, sharing interesting facts and figures, and making them feel very welcome. Their farm was filled with healthy animals whose personalities were as different as the many breeds.Elvis was a large male reindeer with big antlers. There were three calves that had all been born in April, and Elvis was the father of all three. I wonder if he charmed the ladies with a song? 😊Many of the chickens were comfortable with people and could be held. There was a big turkey who had an unusual proclivity – he loved being held and let you know. They kept him in a fenced off area with other birds, because he would just jump into your arms, ready or not!It was obvious that they had a passion for sustainable living as they shared the many ways they were working towards being completely off the grid. Their story of transitioning from emergency room RNs in Chino, CA, to the owners of a reindeer farm in the Pacific Northwest. They had a great time feeding, petting, and walking with the reindeer. Seeing the assortment of birds in their flocks, learning about beekeeping (yes, they even sell the honey!), and seeing their lone bunny was a fun experience. Here are some fun reindeer facts that our granddaughter excitedly shared when they got home.• Reindeer have 3 layers of fur. Their skin doesn’t get wet when they swim.• Their hooves make a clicking sound as their tenons cross each other as they walk.• The velvet coating on their antlers has blood vessels running through them. When the velvet is gone, so are the blood vessels.• The growth rate of their antlers is 1 to 2 inches per DAY!• The large make antlers can weigh 25-30 pounds.• They have fur all over their noses. This protects them from frostbite.• They use their feet and lower legs to cool themselves down during the summer. You can see them with their feet in water to cool them down.• They have a matriarchal society.• They are the only animals that can see ultraviolet light.• They can smell lichen under 3 feet of snow. It is one of their favorite foods and can keep them alive in the winter. Our granddaughter was 14, and she loved it. It’s a good alternative to phones and video games. Any age would enjoy a visit to this farm.

We had a great time on the farm. 11 month old son was wide eyed the whole time, loved the reindeer and the turkeys too. We took our grandparents and they enjoyed as well. Pics with Santa was a nice touch and Tanya and Daniel were very pleasant hosts. Plenty of fire pits to stay warm and tons of games do all the kids to enjoy. Highly recommend.

Amazing memories created and fun had by the whole family. Well worth the scenic drive from Seattle. The owners Tanya and Daniel welcomed us and we learned so much! Their passion for reindeer and living the dream is irresistible. Cannot wait to go back and bring more friends to share the magic.

Our family of four attended the Believe Experience at Goldendale Reindeer and it was the most joyful part of my entire year. Our 3 and 6 year old daughters hopped right into the chicken/turkey/bunny coop and were permitted (under supervision) to feed the animals. The Reindeer Chat was fascinating and the passion for these beautiful animals was evident. Every detail was considered. We can't wait to visit again!

Wow!! I had gone to this Reindeer Farm before to take a reindeer tour, but this time it was for a beginner bee keeping class and a hands on bee keeping class. We are getting bee in 2 days and I am blown away at the amount of information I learned in both classes AND the way it was instructed! Bravo Zulu to Dan and Tonya for making this interesting, fun, and filled with information! Their Farm is beautiful and it was a special treat to be able to see turkeys, pigs, chickens, and yes, even the reindeer!

Goldendale Reindeer is a magical and unexpected place! Not too far from the little town of Goldendale is this unique experience of a lifetime. Most of us will never have a chance to encounter a reindeer, much less engage with one up close and personal. The proprietors are knowledgeable characters that bring the entire event together in such a special way! Highly recommend this to anyone, at any age!

Absolutely loved our experience with the reindeer! We had 4 generations present and all gleaned knowledge about the amazing animals. Owners did great at tailoring to all ages. It was also very inspiring to hear the owners’ passion and love for the animals and not feel like they were just in it for the money. We booked for 45 minutes but ended up staying about 90 minutes talking and learning about the various animals on the farm. Would definitely recommend this to any family staying in town to see the observatory shows as another quality educational experience.

I can't say enough about how wonderful the Believe In The Magic of Christmas event was! Kids had so much fun with all of the games, visiting Santa, making Smores, drinking hot cocoa, and of course, seeing Reindeer! The owners are incredible and it's so easy to see that are truly doing what they are passionate about. We will definitely be going again!
