Everyone in our group loved the food! We got the Deer Haze, Victory Garden, and kids grilled cheese. The customer service was probably the best on the island. Guy was super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place. The bread and fillings inside the sandwich was amazing. Definitely a different kind of sandwich but one I would go back to.

We came here for lunch with friends that live on the island. There are many options for salads and sides, soups, and sandwiches. There is also an area offering local goods and products as well as interesting housewares for sale. I stocked up on some Christmas gifts while we waited for our sandwiches. The porch is a perfect spot to people watch and soak up the sun while we ate our lunch.The food is high quality, fresh, healthy, and tasty from scratch with lots of varieties for everyone. Look for the special of the day and soup options.

We we're pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and quality of the food!This crowded place first looked like a nice deli with outdoor seating, but their food is really delicious, well prepared and made-to-order sandwiches.Make sure to poke your head out into the garden for some quieter tables

Cute little store with fresh food and provisions. I got the Italian bean and sausage soup, and my husband got the Turkey blt. Both meals were delicious. We also got the chocolate chip cookie which I would totally get again. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The store has a small patio for seating outside. Highly recommend for a quick bite.

Holy cow, this place is delicious. When I travel, I love eating from as many places as possible. So it's high praise when I decide to eat at the same place twice. In the case of Market Chef, twice in the span of 24 hours! Both times I ordered sandwiches. Their Spicy Italian sandwich was my favorite. Delicious meat, fresh ingredients, incredible bread. You must go here!

Really solid sandwiches, and great fresh baked cookies (for real, the warm chocolate chip cookies changed my life, don't tell my cardiologist). The roast beef sandwich was great, but the warm turkey sandwich stole the show. The bread was delicious. I think I'll go back for lunch today.

Long overdue gushy review of The Market Chef. From drop in / swing by pick up to catering - these guys do it all with quality, professionalism , great service and most importantly outstanding flavor and presentation. They use the best ingredients, have the most classic yet innovative dishes. Overall just wonderful. Our 4th of July menu featured their fried chicken (yum), Corn salad with feta and dill (yum), Cole Slaw (yum) and a gorgeous charcuterie platter (YUM). Weekday favs - the mac and cheese is better than grandma's! Fantastic sandwiches!!! Wonderful market goods (seriously great!) and the baked goods! One of each cookie, please! (Key Lime Shortbread?? Who knew??)Thank you, Laurie and Tim, you make SJI even more delicious than it already is!

One of our go-to spots soon as we arrive in Friday Harbor. We pick up a few sandwiches, snacks, and salads to take with us as we explore the beautiful island. All items are freshly made in house and such care goes into all their dishes. Check hours before heading in as they may be closed whenever you’re not expecting it!

I wish this restaurant was in my town!! Fresh ingredients, delicious flavor combinations, great atmosphere and excellent service. We had the turkey sandwich, veggie sandwich and multiple deli sides. Everyone loved their meals! Triston took my order and remembered my name and checked on us multiple times. Excellent all around!

Place is legit! If you walk into a deli on the San Juan islands this is what you would expect, gourmet and cool atmosphere, great service. Went with some mixed sautéed veggies that were heated up for us from the deli and they were fabulous.

Roast Beef Rocket! Yum. Fresh bread, fresh ingredients, mix of horseradish with olives and marinated onions. My favorite. They have more than sandwiches. Don't let this tiny place w a friendly wholesome heart fool you. They have daily specials. Bit different than the norm. Fresh Ingredients. Burst of flavor. Great staff, friendly, hardworking, and helpful. Dont be afraid to try something out of the norm, haven't had anything that hasn't tasted amazing. A bit pricey but the quality is there. Keep up the great work!

Great sandwiches, ambiance and employees. We had the hardwood smoked ham sandwich, which came with sharp cheddar and a delicious honey mustard chutney. Also try out their cookies; we tried a key lime iced shortbread cookie which had the right amount of sweet/sour/buttery flavors.

Stunning Sandwiches. We got BLT and spicy Italian sandwiches to go. The latter was one of the best I've ever had. Magnificent choice of sandwich bread.. We also had a tuna macaroni salad and a half pint of summer roasted vegetables. First class. The food here is excellent. Too bad they're not open weekends.

Market Chef is my go to place in Friday Harbor. Was turned on to it about 4 years ago. I was in Friday Harbor on holiday. They prepared the box lunches for our kayaking trip. Excellent! Have been returningever since. I now live in Friday Harbor and often have lunch there, great location fine staff. The crab cakes are a thing of beauty and flavor. I only wish it stayed open for dinner..but one can get food to go. Definite favorite!

Omg I love the Korean fried chicken! The grandparents love it too! Great place to check out in town with lots of variety in what they offer from deli to shopping. Saturdays for Korean chicken! Also love the options on the HUB.

The food is creative, healthy and delicious! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere pleasant with fresh flowers on every table. The restaurant is also very clean. We will definitely be back on our next trip to SJI.
