What a great place for a wedding and family rendezvous. Many quality housing options. All are fantastic. Yes, thing$ can be pricey, but you are on an island where your hosts, everywhere, go that extra mile with service and a Personable Smile.Relax and just Enjoy,Roche Harbor and San Juan

Roche Harbor Resort USED to be my favorite place in Washington state. Unfortunately, however, the current owners have destroyed the views and its charm.First, over the winter they built new "cottages" on the hill by the original family COTTAGES by the swimming pool. Not only did they remove the ability to sit on this beautiful hill overlooking the water, but these new "cottages" are UGLY. They possess not a single architectural quality that should be visible for any structure at this resort.Second, the new homes they are building (or allowing to be built) are blocking (or soon will be) the view along the road from the airport down to the resort. In addition, as with the new "cottages" one or more of these new homes or structures is significantly lacking any architectural integrity consistent with the 1880s and surrounding buildings.Third, they don't seem to be satisfied with the number of homes they are building as they are popping up EVERYWHERE!Lastly, over the past few months the power company has cut down at least 100 trees along the powerline corridor stretching from Friday Harbor to Roche Harbor to "save" the power lines. Now instead of looking at all of those beautiful trees adjacent the roadway you are looking at stumps and chips.Spend your time somewhere else. Instead of honoring its legacy recognizing its responsibility and stewardship of protecting Roche Harbor, the developers and greedy owners have ruined it. Unless I need something from Dominique's store, it is highly unlikely I will visit again. Most recent visit 3/27/2024.

This place is so gorgeous, especially in the fall! We came the first weekend of the “off” season, so quite a few things were closed, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. There is a small store, a cafe for breakfast/lunch, and a restaurant for dinner still open. A few shops, restaurants, and a farmers market style shopping area closes at the end of September. Nearby is a large sculpture park and a short trail to a really cool mausoleum. We stayed in the main hotel building in the presidential suite, the place is historic but very well taken care of and tastefully updated. The bathrooms are shared unless you are in the presidential suite, but all of them are nicely updated and clean, including the one in the suite which had a claw foot tub as well as a walk in shower. Service and food was great too! Also appreciate the multiple EV chargers at the marina. My main complaint is the noise level, there was a wedding reception being held right outside the room so it was pretty loud until about 11pm (with no TV or white noise machine to use to drown out the sound).Nearby activities: Outdoor sculpture park, walking trail to scenic mausoleum, marina, shopping, restaurants, bocce ball

I so badly wanted to give a 5 star to service. One employee having a bad day thought it would be a good idea to be passive aggressive and place a post behind my car instead of directing me to where to park. Everyone else was awesome. The stay was pleasant and the weddings going on there sounded like they were off the charts fun. The food at the restaurant and cafe were very good. We will visit again and this time I know where to park so not to trigger a staff member. Training needed for one person. ;)Rooms: Very clean and get the end rooms with your own bathroom if that bothers you to share. It's an old place so it has a lot of old features. The beds were very comfortable.

This location is gorgeous! A little on the pricey side but completely worth it. We docked our boat out here and had some family stay in the Roche Harbor resort. We loved the little stores selling goods, but everything seemed to close really early (4pm on a weekday). Overall everyone had a great experience, and they were very accommodating. Perfect summer vacation spot!

*We didn’t stay in any of the rooms* but…My family and I attended my brother and sister in law’s wedding at the resort on 08/17/23 and it was amazing! The location was just breathtaking right on the harbor full of beautiful landscaping with great views of the marina. The staff were beyond excellent, meeting our every need with a friendly smile. The reception was in their adjacent parlor and accommodated all 60 of us perfectly. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I hope to return in the future to stay in the historic hotel.

The Roche Harbor Resort is a truly magical place. It is located in a stunning setting on a secluded harbor, surrounded by lush forests and towering mountains. The resort has a rich history, dating back over 100 years. There is a cool hotel and marina, with a wide variety of amenities to offer guests. The rooms at the Roche Harbor Resort have beautiful views of the harbor and the resort also has a variety of dining options, including a fine dining restaurant, and casual fare and amazing donuts & coffee as well as lunch time burgers and fish & chips at the Lime Kiln Cafe.In addition to its beautiful setting and nice accommodations, the Roche Harbor Resort also offers a variety of activities and amenities for guests to enjoy. There is a marina where guests can rent boats and go fishing, kayaking, or whale watching. There is also a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a spa - and my kids love the ping pong table! The staff at the Roche Harbor Resort are friendly and helpful, and they are dedicated to making sure that guests have a memorable experience. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, or a family vacation, the Roche Harbor Resort is the wonderful place to stay.

This is a great place to visit. It is a throwback to a time lost. It is an 1886 "company town" that was converted to a resort. You can get a sense of that as you walk around the property. The San Juan Sculpture Park is well worth a visit. Dining options do impress. Get in line early for breakfast at the Lime Kiln Cafe. Dinner at McMillen's will be served by outstanding staff like Jose. Lunch again at LKC is amazing. Don't miss their Cubano.

I absolutely loved eating outside the delicious, nutritional meals at this scenic hotel. The perfect view of the harbor with the delicious, interesting dinner made for a wonderful evening. There was a flag ceremony with small speeches before dusk that people enjoyed. This hotel had a store with good prices.I would highly recommend going and staying at this hotel for the food, atmosphere and sights. This is a super must-see !

Came from Oregon to stay in this hotel. I am always looking for a ghostly 👻 experience. From googling, haunted hotels, this one came up. The Hotel Del Haro. There at Roche Harbor Resort. That is where we stayed. I believe there is some kinda presence. The feelings, thou, were not of evil. Some don't believe. which is fine. I definitely felt the history. I am a sensitive. Their is something lingering, for sure. The door in the picture, that is circled. It is in the hallway on the second floor just before the room we stayed in. With-in 1 hr of being there, this happened. As I was passing this door. It creaked open slowly. Definitely felt the energy at that moment. In the lobby, you can feel a lot of energy. My clothes were static clinging against my back. Definitely more than one spirit there. In my experiences with the paranormal, they always let you know they are there in some way. Lots of sounds. Tons of feelings. Only got one night. So, I didn't get much time to experience more. I will return to this hotel. Definitely will stay longer for more ghostly experiences. A must to check out the mausoleum. 😬😁

Highly recommend! I left a huge winter coat and a dress in the room closet by mistake and the hotel shipped these to me free of charge. Excellent customer service and staff. For the hotel being built in 1886, it did not feel dusty at all. Historic but clean and comfortable! Exceeded expectations :)

I was pleasantly surprised with the high level of customer support, professionalism and value at this business and is worthy of a definite 5 star rating. This was my four visit to this fine hotel in the last 26 years. We have never been disappointed.Food & drinks: Menu lacks Vegan options.

Idyllic spot to enjoy with the quirkiness of old construction of the late 1800s I believe. Two great restaurants near by. Excellent Marina.Great escape worth several day stay. Check out Duck Soup Restaurant off premise.Nearby activities: Swimming, hiking, boating.Food & drinks: Fabulous indoor and outdoor dining can be had at the resort. Upscale without being pretentious!

Lots of great reviews of this place discuss its history and ambiance. I assume I don't need to do that.I've never stayed at the Hotel, only berthed at the marina. The marina is excellent although it's lately become a bit on the snooty side with all the giant Luxury Yachts that moor there. They have great restrooms with showers for those of us more on the prolly side who don't have hot tubs on our boats.Other than that, I love the scenery of the SJIs and this is no exception. If your yacht is too big for the proletarian FH Marina, stay here.Or, if, as in our case this time, you're bringing a family member out to visit WA State for what may be the last time in their lives, and you just want to walk around and absorb the scenery - you should do it.Nearby activities: Pretty much everyone else has mentioned things in this category, so I'll keep it short.Just enjoy the beauty and walk around the pier. Check out the Hotel - the lobby is virtually the same as it was 100 years ago. Also check out the town's chapel, to the North and slightly uphill from the Hotel.Safety: As mentioned in Walkability, the landscape of this property is mostly vertical. If you're going to climb up and down the hill to visit nearby sites, be careful. Watch your kids - this site is not ADA compliant in almost any way but hey, it's over 150 years old, so not sure what anyone would be expecting.Walkability: This is only really walkable at sea-level. It's at the bottom of a huge cliff, so if you're an old geezer like me and not interested in wheezing your way up and down the hill and risking a heart-attack, park at the bottom in the "day-use is free" zone.Food & drinks: The Cafe out on the pier has better fish-and-chips than FH but they will cost more.Noteworthy details: The Marina parking lot(s) is(are) free for day-use - you only have to pay to park overnight whilst staying abord your Luxury Yacht. They have a Level-II charging station just south of one of the old kiln sheds. Non-Tesla people - rejoice! Some kind of charging station! Tesla-people: wow, only a Level II. Big Whoop.😏

We love working at Roche Harbor with their amazing staff, venue and couples! Every wedding is a unique experience with 5 star service. The landscape is stunning year round and we always look forward to what is in bloom. The beauty of the resort adds so much to our content and compliments the love stories we capture for our couples. Every wedding we have covered at Roche Harbor has gone off without a hitch, we truly love working there!

We have come here for years to the main hotel. Seems to be a wedding destination now. Great place for it but the parting until 1am out on the balcony wasn’t. We didn’t have the energy to join them. Management didn’t care.

Visited this resort in consideration for our wedding venue. Had a lovely visit and tour with Laura. I was then referred to Ashley for contract negotiations. Was ready to spend $15,000 on a dinner but when I politely asked why some chips and guac for a small wedding party was going to cost $700+, Ashley suggested I find another venue. So I did!
